How about just unhooking the cellular antenna / card so the system can't get the shut off code it's no loss as you are not paying for the data link and getting no data over it anyways.
amd desktop cpus can use ECC. Intel needs xeon and Intel xeon cost more and have less io then desktop i7 boards aka only 1 pci-e x16 slot / some don't even have 1 full x16 slot.

lodgenet has the game hardware and movies on site / in the box so bandwidth and lag is not as bad as some thing like this is.
How about user maps and mods and LAN play?
talking about lag LAN play is still much better then on line play even if you have a low ping.
