Only because people are not routinely filling for them because unemancipated minors only need to be with an adult who has a FOID car in their posession. I am guessing that babies probably don't receive FOID cards that often but it is probably not unheard of for teenagers to receive them. If the gun owning parents in Illinois are anything like the gun owning parents I know, I would trust thier decision on if their child is mature enough to handle a firearm more than I would trust an arbitrary age that a state would come up with.

I was replying to a person that stated "a child can't own a gun", unless you would call someone 10 months old an adult, the state of Illinois disagrees. According to the FAQ the only thing you need if you are under 16 years of age is parental consent to apply for a FOID card. There are age restrictions on buying long guns and pistols but not possessing them.http://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/firearmsfaq.cfm

How many times should the government be able to tax one product?

If you fill out the right paperwork the product only gets taxed once at the end of the process.

Presumably taxes were paid on the stuff that made the bio fuel oil in every phase of transaction. The farmer paid taxes, the producer paid taxes, the McDonalds paid taxes, those who bought the fries fried in the oil paid taxes, etc.

The farmer would pay taxes on the farm equipment bought to produce the crop, the oil is not taxed yet.

The producer would pay taxes on equipment used to turn the produce of the farmer into oil, the oil is still not taxed.

You are correct that McDonalds would pay taxes on the oil. There is no tax on food in ohio but, However; if there was Mcdonalds would not pay tax for the potatoes because they are reselling them in the form of fries

People consuming fries do not pay taxes for the oil, the taxes for the oil would be collected from McDonalds buy the organazation selling the oil to McDonalds. Some people would argue that the people paying for the fries pay the tax but that is incorrect, because buy the time you pay for your fries the state has already collected thier taxes.

Well, you're out of luck there if you can't wait a couple minutes. But once I do, I can do more than put it on a floppy (if it'll even fit). I could put it on an external hard drive, a thumb drive, a CD or DVD, or put it on a shared network drive or email it. The Mac Plus doesn't offer most of those options.
I am not an expert on the mac plus but according to the article they had the os for the mac installed on an external scsi hard drive. They also mentioned that the computer was capable of networking. The USB standard did not exist at the time and the scsi bus might be to slow to feed a cd burner, but I am fairly shure that some sort of adaptation could be made that would allow for both. The low speed of usb is 1.5 Mbits/s and scsi had an initial throughput of 5MB/s which leaves some room for any extra that would be needed to encapsulate the protocol. CD burners could use a 700MB buffer that way the burner would have all of the needed infromation before starting the burn.

I sort of agree with the article that just because we have the extra resources dose not mean we have to use them. If they had a full blown version of word running on the mac plus then why can't a pda which has the same or better specs run a full copy of word? I believe that would end compatibility issues, and the more modular they make word the easier it could be to keep the extra feautres without the running in to storage space on the pda if the sync feature could recognize and only move they needed modules when syncing the pda.

If that won't work how about downloadable cd, dvd, or usb images of the base system.

Those ideas take care of testing hardware. For software they could have a form to fill out for distros where they can say that if dell gives them one of each model early they will install and test thier particular distro, and then send it back. When dell recieves the computer they can image the hard drive to install on any computer ordered that way. To make support easier on the distros after the units start selling dell can give send the distros a handful of computers proportionate to the number of installs they had.
