Hmm, is the test be administered liek the DMV does? those test are soo brain dead even a stupid person can pass with perfect score with no problem.

    Well, people need to contribute more to these projects intstead of just downloading and taking something that is free. OSS and FS are at their best when many minds help out with it. Anyways, I can see that commercial marketing can coexist with OSS say as a project matures a spin off that is close source is made and the open source version is used as a test bed for new features and ideas.

    To receive encrypted data is legal, to decrypt it is also legal, but the line is drawned when you use it to commit crime... eg. ID fraud/theft.

    I fear the day when DNA fingerprints will be used to screen people based on their possible getting cancer or some other genetic controlled disease. Employers and insurance companies should not be allowed to have such power as someone could be discriminated agiants with out ever having developed that they fear will happen. --chris

    That is not right. I have a record on usenet (groups.google.com) that can make me look like an idiot that ask too many stupid questions about computers. My point is you should judge a person on their past postings on usenet because people can change and become smarter.

    Infinite loops are useful like in software that doesnt need to exit once loaded. And the problem with recursive routines is that the programmer didnt design an appropiate limit to stop the process from overflowing and running amok. Ok, what I suggest is that most "magicians" like it when people cannot figure out how it works as that leaves them at their mercy and coming back for more.

    Hey, 384/128kbps is faster than a 56k modem :) If it always on, then they should throttle it to 56/33.6k to entice buy ing higher speeds.

    What would the intrinsic dangers of a runaway fusion reaction that would cause the rapid shutdown of the plant to fail? Imagine if the magnetic feild bubble used to constrain the hot plasma gasses collapse. The resulting explosion would make Chernobyl or three mile island took like nothing. I would prefer the reactors be run from the moon or orbit and the power generated can then be transported in super high capacity batteries by rocket lander/shuttle.

    Even if they have no programming skills, their input and opinions of how the software project should be done is invaluable to the team members of the project.

    Linux install is not as reliable as the windows installer imo. When I had redhat on the viao laptop it was not detecting the usb and pcmcia card (ethernet) and had to install a seperate driver for it. but still haven't got the usb ports to work. and the reason I went back to winxp home editon is becuase it at least doesnt lock up and mess up the file system when you are forced to reboot. I noticed that with windows update turned off the machine is lot more stable and can get more done with computer. --chris

    Even on fiberoptic cable the rules for ethernet transmission still apply. An A/V HiDef user can easily swamp the border routers at the average ISP so no other traffic can occur (collision errors etc). Better to get the teletube feed on seperate medium from your data access paths. --chris

    They need to come up with a wifi/AM/FM/TV/MP3/CDMA cellphone. With data storage flash drive (access via NFS of SMB) so you can use it like a floppy disk... Wifi and cdma bouth work on similar frequency and I bet VHF/UHF reception would work as well with out too much drain on battery. hmmm. (dreaming)

    Online scams are easier to occur becuase of the design of the clickable interface. In offline cams you would have to actually walk the reply to the postal box or go into the bank.

    Could a fancied up hueristic scanner and code debugger. I bet this system will have false positives going undetected. How can the software tell if the user is running a legitiment disk maintence tool verses a program that modifies programs own devious purposes. --chris

    Otherwise known as electrolysis, get a large plastic container of water with metal electrodes inserted and attached to car batteries. the result will be hydrogen gas bubbles. capture it and feed it into your car... --chris
