more money. People are more likely to donate to a local hospital, its just something they can attach to more, ya know? So if there isn't a single hospital in your state on Child Play's map, head on down to the nearest one and help spread the word. And even if there, if it is not very close by, find the closest hospital and tell THEM.
If you tell them now, they will more than likely be ready for 2007's fundraising.
From what I call recall, the whole scope was changing and they would be moving to private meetings in hotels. I guess either that is gone or it is splitting off.
I'm actually looking forward to the job fair portion, could prove to be very interesting.
I seriously hope they have a student version of the suite that would be very awesome and helpful! Most students I know end up buying the "education" discounted version.
2 tiers is a step backward, not a step forward. Internet companies didn't create this content, in fact the content is the reason people pay them, to be able to access it. If you couldn't access the net for the stuff that you want, why bother with it? Companies that do this run the risk of users migrating to companies that don't, but not everyone has an alternative(ie, the whole wikipedia/qatar thing recently)

The cable and telephone companies have fought net neutrality with a lavishly financed and misleading lobbying campaign
A good reminder that every politician is in someone's pocket, regardless of political affiliation.
Then again, nobody can really judge this because we don't know about the games they were suggesting. MS might have been right in not signing off, the game ideas may really have been that bad. Or In-Fusio might be right about MS ignoring them.
Have to wonder where this one will go.
Lucky him, he has some more ammo
The issue won't really be settled once and for all, does violent media create violent people, or are violent people attracted to violent media. Personally, I believe the latter.
It isn't necessary to completely move to an 'online' desktop. Desktops as we know them now have their place, they have their own significant advantages, and I am sure that with time we will all be using both. A lot of people can't imagine an "online desktop," but the next batch of netizens will probably already be accustomed to the idea, and will use it, alongside a traditional desktop OS, be it a linux distro, Mac's OS, or Windows.
As for losing all yours emails, shit happens. Anything you have any use for should be:
a) copied to own harddrive
b) if important enough, printed out
A very decent human being, was the only president to not have been elected to either of the executive positions he held (appointed by nixon to VP, later president in wake of Nixon's resignation). Apparently, elections make candidates into jerks.
You can keep making the shinier graphics, but eventually (like whats happening these years) it really, really, REALLY, doesn't really matter much, in comparison to games with poorer graphics.
Lower standards! But seriously, don't you feel as though that happens? Your in class with some fairly intelligent people, and a pile of writhing idiots, and they somehow pass? I have a lot of friends that come to me for their searches, they know I can find practically anything online. The problem is searching for information is never stressed at a young age. You are presented with information in standardized book form, and despite any and all other sources, if it isn't in the book, it is an incorrect answer/solution/etc.
I mean, I remember all the yahoo commercials years ago, but I don't recall ever seeing a Google commercial. And despite the ads, google came out top. Now, if there were google commercials, I haven't seen them, but I've used it since I first of them, it was a "clean" site, unlike the messy yahoo page full of crap I didn't care about.
I was under the impression that they eventually want the same functionality in the Wii browser as with any browser. We can just hope that they throw in this functionality as well before they release the final version of it.
If not, we can wait till someone installs linux on it.
Whoever created the DarkFloppy.A worm appears not to have heard of e-mail, instant messaging or P2P systems, as the propagation methods they've chosen to spread this malicious code is... floppy disks. Not much chance of a massive epidemic then, is there?
Oh, well, I think they underestimate just how stupid some people are. I wonder who the unlucky person was who first nabbed that one.
Just goes to show, the internet is the "wild frontier" and that probably won't ever change.
I cannot agree with you more JNighthawk. I am approaching the halfway mark for my own degree in Game Art & Design.
When someone finally heads off to a college, no matter the college, no matter the field/degree, there will always be people with no motivation, no passion, no drive towards success. The trick is to make sure you aren't one of those people. Then it really doesn't matter what you do or where you go.
Also, do not count on your degree for anything other than what it is, a piece of paper. Go out there and start on projects early on. There are plenty of mod projects that would love to have a programmer/scripter. Failing that, make some small games on your own.
They have a page with banner graphics. Donating is great, but if your site/blog whatever can have a banner, place one of the Child's Play banners for a while. Already did that with my own site. It's great if you can donate money, but really spread the word, so more people can donate. I plan to put up a few flyers as well at school.
Wow, extremist...lets forget the chance that new ideas may be incorporated into current ones to create something great. Just because something new comes along, doesn't mean everything else must be destroyed. Take the best of everything and blend it together.
I know some people must have seen this comming, but you'd think they'd act before this became such a big issue. As time goes on, I am sure some new method of distributing stuff or new forms of media will eventually cause this problem again.
If they didn't think of this being a problem all those years ago, what lies down the road in 10, 20 years time?
Thats odd, people complaining about it being/.ed, but I can access the page just fine (on computers other then my own) I sent the link to my friend, he can access it fine as well.
Though I did find that if you middle click the link (opens in a new tab) it gives the error. Normal clicking makes it work fine.
Just what iv'e been experieincing since I initially responded.
that buffer is fucking huge. Laptops awesome, wonder when they'll actually work on a regular size one though.
Then again, seeing as it's gonna be the first batch out the door, potential issues from what is practically a new drive type will scare me, and my wallet away.
I wonder when/if a linux version will be released, because I believe they ended support for the apple version of IE a while back. Most likely not, because I see a linux version of IE being good for Linux, maybe encouraging them to switch. But of course, MS doesn't have a problem with crossplatform MS Office and in the past IE, on a Mac. What's their attitude towards linux (besides hostile)./typing out loud.
Why don't valve just make it so HL2 on the Xbox is as moddable as the PC version. So mods would run natively on both?
One can only wish this were true, but mods are the reason I love PC gaming, and the reason I don't care about console ports of PC games. Also, ignoring keyboards, consoles only have a limited number of buttons to work with.
Was ubuntu. Sure, I installed KDE afterwards (basically Kubuntu), but that fact is that it is simple enough for myself, a first timer to get the hang of it, and I have gotten a number of people to give it a shot as well. I am not yet near using it as my primary OS, but it managed to get me in the linux world as no other OS was able.
The four flavors of Ubuntu are enough to appeal to a lot of people and groups.
Plus, the community is so awesome and helpful, and I personally expect a lot of growth of Linux Desktop users over the coming years.
