I wouldn't say killing as so much left it festering in the grave for a while longer.
As much as I hate social websites this could be handy to people like me who have just relocated and are looking for a new group to join. BTW: Anyone need a level 20 mage?
Conversely, since words are merely oral/written representations for things, thoughts, feelings, or concepts, is saying "Oh gosh and golly gee" to convey the feelings of annoyance any different than saying "Shit" to accomplish the same thing? I hear people all over the place use swear word substitution (crap for shit, gosh for god, fudge for fuck, etc.), and it's easy to tell that they did a translation of the word in their head. How is that any better than using the most relevant word? Is the sin the symbol or the thought?
Because of where we as a people have placed the taboos in the language. "Crap" doesn't have the same sting that "Shit" does. With these words being less harsh versions of the curse we're now able to to add more to less weight to our expressions. By calling the servers pieces of crap we can tell I don't think they're total shit but still pains. The sin is in the thought, but also in the degree of the curse you apply.
If you played bloodlines, you'd of asked for a little more dev time for them to work out the bugs on what was such an awsome game. Better to take their time and do it right then rush the product and us be left to feel cheated.
As much as we kill it around here, we have a love for its strength. You can say exactly how you feel and be sure everyone knows how you feel. Unfortunetly, that sometimes requires the use of taboo explatives. By removing the taboo we remove their strength. I'm not sure about you but when the server crashes "Oh gosh and golly gee!" Does not express my feelings at the time. Then again, I don't want small children to hear me as I'm working on said pieces of crap.
As a DBA part of what I do is actively monitor outside query executions to relation to server performance. Really wicked looking monitors display this information constantly of the external system, internal users come by asking if I'm able to see what they're doing and I give them the honest answer of "Yes... But you guys aren't that interesting." They automatically assume that because I can be big brother that I AM big brother. I only monitor specific user activity if they complain of performance problems. But, the monitor for external user activity is always up so they think I'm always watching them. It's all about perception.
During highschool I took part week long in a faux state goverment. Health Deparment got a huge budget and we where told to spend every cent of it so that next years department would have the same size budget. It was a pain, we where giving huge grants to hospitals, city parks and what not to make up the difference. If only real world worked that way.
There's a reason so many of us hide behind fake pictures and psudonims online. It's because we don't want our activities online to reflect back on our lives else where. How many times have you signed up for something Bob Bobington?
As A DBA, when they bring new highers around to introduce them and they have to stop and say "...And I have NO idea what he does..." To me that means I'm doing my job as a DBA right. I'm the stage crew to this little dog and pony show. The less joe-user knows about the day-to-day operations of the database the better. They see me, code, and the many monitors I have running. It looks impressive enough that they know well enough to stay away and that works for me.
I've lost weight from DDR also. But it wasn't the ONLY thing I did! MY diet changed, I've since joined a gym. Many of us who cliam high weight loss from DDR have to remember DDR is not the ONLY reason. This is good news. Get the kids moving, but it's only a pebble in the lake of the problem. So, toot your horn but remember playing DDR is part. Putting down the cheetos is the other.
He has a windows CE enabled phone and we could place this app on his device while he's here and enable him to the BES and when he leaves uninstall it. It makes perfect sense to me.
I just read through 50+ pages of SQL white page documentation...
I don't think MS has a problem with the number of pages...

Lots of fuss over Google handing data: maybe they shouldn't be keeping the data in the first place?
First time a sig seemed insightful...

I get through the article and realize it's from April... I feel so out of date.
I'd love to see them walk on a treadmill and try to send email at the same time.
Granted, IT would get called to fix the treadmill if it broke.
