Arizona is not fit for human habitation. Best plan for Arizona is for all the people of Arizona to move to places like Pittsburgh, where there is plenty of water and nice homes for dirt cheap prices. That will be lot more green, enviro friendly etc etc than this nonsense about 220 mph train that connects two points in the desert.
Or...do most people just put everything in My Documents?
Nah. Lots and lots of people (mostly brain dead dumb programmers and installation script writers) dump everything in c:\Windows folder, hardwired, by default.
When it encounters a ODF 1.1 document with formula arguments separated by commas created by the MsOffice2007 SP2, does it throw up a really really big nasty warning dialog that says, "MsOffice2007 is using ODF 1.1, please contact the vendor and urge them to start supporting ODF 1.2. We will be nice this one last time and hack around the commas and make them colons. But best if you could persuade the vendor of ODF1.1 docs to upgrade to ODF 1.2"?
I have nothing against comic books, and it is possible that I have been unfairly dismissing them as childish. But why is there a review of a comic book in slashdot?
If you are cynical, you might observe that if Excel 2007 SP2 allowed Microsoft/CleverAge ODF Add-in formulas to work correctly, then SP2 would need to allow all vendors' formulas to work, since the other vendors are using the same legacy namespace. The only way for Microsoft to make their legacy ODF documents work and to exclude other vendors would be (hypothetically) to specifically look in the document for the name of the application that created the document, and allow their ODF Add-in but reject OpenOffice, etc. IANAL, but I think something like that would look very, very bad to competition authorities.
This should easy to test. Take a ODF doc created by OpenOffice, edit and spoof the authoring tool and claim it was written by Office97. If Office2007 reads and acts correctly then we have proof that it is deliberately being incompatible.
Let us get this proof or shut up.
We definitely need a compliance monitor tool like acid test for html and make sure we hold the feet of all the vendors to the fire.
Like AcidTest for browsers, is there a standard test that will test the export/import compliance with standards for the Office documents? Mod me paranoid, but I am worried Microsoft will implement ODF export/import deliberately in a buggy way to damage the reputation of the ODF format.
What is 11 billion to our Federal Government? It gives 10 times that much money to bail out AIG every quarter. Almost.
When Christopher Columbus was trying to get funding for his expedition, he finally persuaded Queen Isabella and Ferdinand that the cost of three
ships, provisions, crew pay all put together is less than what Her Majesty Q Isabella was spending to entertain visiting aristocratic guests for three weeks.
It is like the brand spanking new Harvard MBA starting to work for a railroad discovering, to his utter horror, that all the rolling stock in the railroad adds up to just 1/100 th of the track owned by the company. He smartly addresses the over inventory problem by tearing up and selling for scrap all the excess track!
If true, this might, trigger a reaction in USA, like the launch of Sputnik by USSR did back in 1957. Suddenly science will be "in" again and it will shake America from its lethargy, self absorption and provide some kind of common unifying goals.
Start using Foxit or some such pdf reader. Everybody and his brother wants to be a browser. Why the hell did Adobe add javascript and the ability to open internet connections and hypertext links inside a PDF reader?
It is believed that it is the very same senator who entered the Republican Senate Caucus emerged 30 years later unscathed, unblemished, eh, in the pristine form, entered the Democratic Senate Caucus. Who would believe such a theory? Senators are not bullets made by Western Case Cartridge Company.
You ask for a TDR to test the patch cables before using them. The cost of TDR and your pay grade may not make sense for your employer. But take that TDR to your local bar, and boy! What a chick magnet that cool thing is!
A girl, a girl with a boyfriend and later a husband actually meddled with Linux. Fanatasize about such things, but if you want to post them, please do so at the appropriate venue like Penthouse./. is for real down to earth stuff. bah!

The planet Zorran, neighbor of Tattoonie, has an interesting biology. The left handed chirals evolved into the plants and the right handed Zorrans evolved into animals. How do the animals digest the plant matter you ask? Well their mitochondria is actually ambi-chiral called mitachloreans. Thus the light reflected by Zorrans has both left and right handed chiral-photons.
The ships do not want to carry fire arms not because they don't want to kill the pirates. Carrying fire arms is a safety issue and a legal issue. Some countries would not let a ship armed with machines into their ports. Guns and ammo are dangerous in a fire. And they would attract vandals and thieves who want to steal the guns and ammo. So it is to protect the ship and its crew, they don't want to carry a gun. If they can kill the pirates without guns, they would do so. It is not a question of trying to be humane to the pirates, just sensible precautions to protect the crew.
It's a high-powered directional loudspeaker that allows a ship to hail an approaching vessel more than a mile away. And it comes with recordings of useful phrases, like "You must leave the area immediately," in Somali and dozens of other languages.
One of the most often requested phrase was "All your bases are belong to us". Followed by, "The Red zone is for loading and unloading only. The Green zone is for dropping off and picking up passengers".
Looks like the Swedish court system is rotten. Next thing you know, couple of judges will open a private juvenile detention facility, rule the government detention facility to be inadequate, harshly punish all juveniles appearing before them to long detentions, send them to their own private detention facility, bill the government for millions of dollars, and whoop it up in some Caribbean island. Nah. The Swedes better look up at the American Judicial System (TM), The Best Justice Money Can Buy.
Post all the details of your project requirements, benchmarks, test cases, unit test modules and everything in Slashdot and ask for advice. You see, most slashdotters are jobless fellows who salivate at the idea of working their tails off to solve other peoples' problems. When you reap all the benefit of the contributions and laugh all the way to the bank, make sure your minions do not waste their time reading slashdot. Great Idea, Fellah.

These sheep provide some dating opportunities, not otherwise available, to some of the really nerdy developers.

2. Wait for a disaster

You need physical access to the machine. Cant be done remotely. So nothing new.
