Or you can install Firefox mobile with Adblock and Noscript and just add shortcut to desktop? As a bonus - if you switch to "Desktop view" you can even read messages without Facebook Messenger. So far I found 1 website that does not work with this combo - NewsThump...

You connect second router (or access point) to one of LAN ports and switch on wifi power saving on the BT hub. You have access to free access points and you do not share yours. Which doesn't matter all that much as those BT WiFI and OpenZone hotspots are slow and suck donkey's balls. 3G is faster than most of them and with better coverage.

I also find it annoying. If you add that thick bar in Win 7, and then Ribbon from Office and some assorted stuff like window borders and status bar, there is suddenly no space to do any work. That is so ridiculously silly. I cannot call it progress, rather walking backwards.

Then there is netbooks' 1024x600. Thanks to MSFT for mandating max specifications for netbooks.

It only works like that on Windows. I think it's mostly about bad system design. I have no such issues on my Linux machine, but lots on my wife's Windows one. Both are the same Thinkpad laptops, so fault can only be on OS side.

I'm a foreigner in England and found that I know grammar and spelling better than most of my English friends. We're talking about people who passed through basic education system here, and at least half of them also through higher studies.
If you ask them about grammar, apostrophe rules or spelling they will just say they never studied this. Nobody ever though them this. Then you wonder why all this is in total shambles.

Problem is that all kids are prepared to pass those stupid tests and outside them they know jack shit. There are exceptions, but general population is similar to Idiocracy one.

Actually not. It is going to store quite permanently only some files used to speed up system processing. There is not going to be any journals, and the filesystem will be highly optimised for this kind of usage. That is from press release I read somewhere. So even MLC will last long time as writes will be very limited. Only issue is that to drive costs down controller is also going to be scaled down so no great magic as with SSDs. So if somebody hacks that flash to use as HDD it will wear quite badly and quickly.

  20. Re:Not so sure on Intel's Braidwood Could Crush SSD Market · · Score: 4, Interesting

"(...)if it becomes commonplace, most PCs will eventually have it (...)"

Which opens an interesting hole. That flash on motherboard will hold some data to speed up system startup. That means first n opened files. With that flash big enough it will also hold quite a lot of user documents. Unless documents can be marked as "not to be cached" it will add extra headache when getting rid of old systems. We have it already with 419ers buying old PCs and smartphones, gangs dumpsterdiving, etc.

Also try to explain to customers that they will need to erase flash they cannot see in system (and will most probably not even know about it!) or destroy the chip before throwing away old system. With HDDs it's quite hard and those are big, visible and has been around for ages.

If they come with right chipset those would be brilliant for HTPCs and quite powerful embedded devices (no fans!). Problem with Atom is that almost universally it comes with very crappy chipset/GPU which limits it's usage considerably. Since that is AMD they can use ATI integrated GPUs which can lead to some impressive performance.
