Perhaps the malware site checks the headers as well and serves up a different page for detected AVG scanners, making the entire thing even more pointless.
I gotta agree with the GP, I understand list pages are hard to define, but I wish you would have at least ignored the "April 19" etc. pages, because they kinda ruin it. I found the shortest path from a computer game to something else and it went through the April 19 page, not even because the game came out on April 19, but because some random magazine wrote a random article about the game that day.
All in all it's awesome watching the links between different topics, but whenever I see a list page, I can't help going: "Well, no real connection there then."
Are you sure the other person doesn't just forget whether he has a dot in his e-mail address sometimes and accidently gives your e-mail address out instead of his own? Or people trying to contact him forgets?
Well said! And since children are starving in Africa, does that mean I'm not allowed to complain if I get served bad food in a restaurant? Dvorak may be an idiot, but seriously, how did the GP get 40% Insightful, 40% Interesting and only 20% Flamebait?
I have decided to live my own life and not worry too much about other people who are not as fortunate as I am, because I don't like feeling guilty everytime I enjoy something. But if someone wants to live their lives for starving children, then I respect them very much for that! However, how can that person then sit on Slashdot and complain about other people complaining? I can really only think of one thing to say to that:
You have the temerity to use electricity when a sizable portion of the world is unable to grow crops because of climate change?
Oh, you already said that. I have nothing to add then.
At some point, we will hit diminishing returns. Do you know of any studies that test the limit of resolution for a person with 20/20 vision? (It probably can be approximated from eye chart information.) http://www.carltonbale.com/2006/11/1080p-does-matter/
Have you seen this? I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're talking about, but it does show that 1080p or even 720p can certainly be "as good as it gets" depending on screen size and viewing distance. The chart appears to be accurate as well, I checked it out on my 1080p 42" with 1:1 pixel mapping and the distance where I could no longer tell each pixel apart matched that predicted by the chart very well.
Well said, when you're winning, you feel better and then you do better. That should be the only advantage there is to winning, none of this: "Wow, good job killing everyone on the other team, here are some better weapons, to make sure there'll be absolutely no challenge for you in the next round!"
You're saying Microsoft talked with ACID guys to change the official ACID web site that specific day for IE8 to pass it? Hairy conspiracy theory pretty much? No, he's saying that the test was broken and Internet Explorer passed it anyway, meaning that they're not really W3C compliant, they just made sure the smiley looked right on that page.
So he's not saying the ACID team had anything to do with it, just that Internet Explorer shouldn't have been able to pass the test while it was broken.
And I don't agree with any of this, just explaining what he meant.:)
Having linked to that, I think you're taking this way, way too seriously and I would like to remind you that other people might laugh at things you don't find funny.
Which leads me to the question... Why do you have to make lenses bigger to see objects that are farther away? When I go to get my eyes checked, they've never said: "You're going to need bigger glasses!" They just make the lenses more or less concave or convex. Seriously, how should I know? See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lens_(optics) for some pretty pictures.
So when we need to see something far away, can anyone explain why we need to make the actual lenses bigger?
What happened to the slashdot I used to know?!
It's Slashdot, Jim, but not as you know it.
That does raise the question though...
No, it BEGS the question! Goddamnit, how many times do we have to go over this?!
Perhaps the malware site checks the headers as well and serves up a different page for detected AVG scanners, making the entire thing even more pointless.
Because that would be sooooooooooooo boring? :)

No, I mean... Ah, damnit, I walked right into that one, didn't I? :(
My identical twin IS a chimp, you insensitive clod!
Wow, that's actually pretty good, someone needs to mod that higher up. :)
Won't someone PLEASE think of the... fish?!
Wouldn't a mirror do the trick?
Dude, that would have been hilarious if you had done it with a jwales quote instead. :) Come on, it's not too late. :)

If you're using Windows, just add an English keyboard layout and press left Alt + left Shift to quickly switch between AZERTY and QWERTY layouts.
Brawndo's got electrolytes!

Well played, many of us didn't see that one coming. :)
Thank you.
That answer then raises the question: Can't we make more sensitive equipment instead of increasing the lens size?
Missing something? Nope, you pretty much nailed it.
