Thank goodness for Adblock Plus. Facebook can tell the world I'm a lesbian, but I will not see their ads to share it with advertisers.

Office 2007 has refused to update itself on my machine since March, so I'm not worried about losing functionality. Sorry, i4i, I will still be violating your copyright unwillingly! :D

good lord.. I am speechless. 35,000 people thought it was a good idea to give this company their SSN *and* their mother's maiden name? And people wonder how come identity theft is so rampant.

And if they do this, people will head right to torrents and usenet for their entertainment consumption. The media giants fail to realize we WANT to watch legitimately, but if they are going to force our hand, we're going to just pirate it.

And I could say this exact thing about "drugs". Nobody is forcing you to go out and pop 500 pills against your will. Oh wait.. addiction is addiction whether its drugs, food, alcohol, tv, or video games. Good thing I have no mod points or your post would be modded troll.

They are intimating that you can end up in Federal "Pound-You-In-The-Ass" Prison for making a dupe. Nice! The industry just needs to realize that it's free advertising and treat it as such instead of endorsing child rape.

  11. As Long as my Bandwidth is Capped... on Adblock Plus Maker Proposes Change To Help Sites · · Score: 1

As long as my ISP insists on capping my bandwidth, I am not going to use it to download ads. For all intents and purposes, I *am* paying for the content. 44.95 a month.

But, with that said, if I visit a site often and their ads are unobtrusive (i.e. small and unmoving), I would consider enabling them.

Fine the OS vendor for every virus that infects its OS.

M$ would be the most secure OS on the planet in a matter of weeks. I seriously think they do not fix the issues to support the Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware aftermarket; which they are now members of (OneCare).

  13. Re:They have done far worse on Klingons Cut From Final Star Trek XI Movie · · Score: 1

Speaking as a hardcore Trekker (and a female one at that), I don't much care that this retelling isn't 100% Pure Canon. Nitpicking about McCoy not being the original doctor is just silly. You could just as easily whine about Kirk not being the original captain, which I noticed you didn't do, or the fact that Uhura or Sulu were absent from the original pilot and Chekov didn't show up til the 2nd season. It cannot possibly be worse than the last movie. I shall reserve my judgment until I see it.

Criminals who do not leave business cards with full contact information will now fall under the "sophistication" law as well for attempting to hide their identity while committing a crime.

Seriously, how is using a proxy any different than "covering your tracks" by using a mask, burning your shoes, destroying the weapon, using gloves, shredding documents, etc.?

  15. Anything is Better on Look Out, Firefox 3 — IE8 Is Back On Top For Now · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Right now, based on the poor memory usage of the recent builds of FF3, anything is better. FF gobbling up all my available ram and then crashing every couple of hours has made me uninstall it. So, I'd say this is a non-story.
