The company I work help desk for got hit by Zotob on Monday Morning, and by 7:20 it had taken down several servers and most of the computers in one section of the company. We are actually still patching and scanning systems, they shut off the wireless network when it started and just turned it back on today. They had turned off access to shared drives through VPN and are scanning all laptops that enter any of the buildings before they let them into the main area. I would like to know who it is that let this into the network and give them a nice punch in the nose. I am sure they hope no one finds out as it probably cost the company several millions in downtime.
The only way I can see this being somewhat not hated by the gamers is if it is used in a MMO game to eliminate the monthly fees. I would be willing to play a game where the ads were hosted on the server and I wasn't charged for playing on that server.
Shouldn't they assume that if you block ads then you arn't one of the people that click them anyway. If the ads weren't so annoying in the first place I wouldn't be blocking them, I have seen plugins to block google ads but I don't use them because the google ads arn't intrusive.
I work on the helpdesk for a multinational multi billion dollar company and so far in the past half a year something like this has happened twice. They put any e-mail sent from an address ending in @companyname.com on the blacklist. It is nowhere near where I support things but somewhere along the line they got the blacklist removed both times within 24 hours. I can imagine if it is a company that is less known it would be nowhere near as easy to get done.
I have actually gotten firmware upgrades for my Digital Camera, clear the SD card, download the file, put it on the card and put the card in the camera, turn on the camera and it flashes whatever chip it uses. Fixed some issues that they found and I think improved performance slightly.
Wouldn't it make sence to have the images posted here be the same size, what happens if I want to print out all the images when it's done and put the book together, the cover is far too large for that.
How about we not post any links to mozilla.org over the next few days so anyone who wants to download it will get faster speeds and not have to deal with slashdot bandwith usage?

They seem to have linked it all under pr0n, that brings up lots of choices.
To laugh at the thought of a Minivan of small childred being swalowed by sinkholes? And does it make me a worse person to wish it would take socer moms with it if it would mean faster internet access?
Someone on Slashdot demands an example test be made available online so they can take it and brag about how competent they are, thus prompting several other members to take the test to see who is the most perfect and has the largest e-penis.
I have recently been seeing commercials for Netscape as an ISP, offering similar rates to netzero with the $5 more for web accelerator option. I assumed that this was AOLs way of getting in on the budget ISP market. Is there any indication of how many of the members they loose are being picked back up under netscape?
I get to support these at work, if they lose the device they will have to call in, AOL can set the password to a temporary code or possibly just turn off looking for it. Then they can send them a new one and probably charge them extra for it.
They took the sequil route when they went from NES to SNES, then developed under then name Nintendo Ultra 64 before changeing it to Nintendo 64, or N64 for short. Game cube was originaly project Dolphin and the final name was kept secret. Sony and Microsoft are easy to figure out, PS3 and Xbox 2, but I don't think Nintendo will call it Gamecube 2, or Super Gamecube, Maby it will be called Project V or Project 5, since it will be there 5th major entry into the non portable gameing market (depending on how you count the virtural boy).
Look on his second page of pictures, he has a few pictures of his cats, no hacked gadgets in sight, one is left to assume that he us useing this device to either torture the cat's ears or is useing mind controle from it to controle his cats.
He has the schematics of what he put into the thing, and lots of pictures of the thing, but allas, no step by step hacking process, guess if people want there own they can figure it out.
The simple geek answer is, because it was there. Or maby, because I can. One part of being a geek that I enjoy is rolling your own [insert anything techie here]. Sure I could get better performance by spending a few hundred on something someone else made, but there are those of us who will do it ourselves just to prove that we can and to brag about it to others.
And that's the reason why my brother uses a 600Mhz computer for general computeing while haveing a 900 Mhz box siting on top of the tv with no other use than Roms and dvd's.
Several unsigned bands record there own cd's, is RIAA going to go after all CD-R disks and assume they own all music. Just last night I was in line at a concert and members of a local band were handing out burned cd's of there music, they are unsigned, RIAA has no controle of them.
I already have my Tickets to LoTR TTT midnight show, got a group of geeks I'm going there with, now I just need to decide if I want to be an ubergeek and dress up as a character from it.
I work for a freigh company, we deliver to stores and companies, and Gillette is one of the companies we ship for. So now what is going to happen when we lose a piece of freight, are they going to call us and say, you sent this to Indianapolis, it was supposed to goto Chicago, now do it right.
At least it would save up a lot of trouble tracking the stuff down.
I seem to remember Mario's full name being Mario Mario, Luigi's name would be Luigi Mario, hence the term Mario Brothers.

But when he swears on the Phantom that the Phantom is real and is coming "Soon" then it's not much different than an empty promise.

I was unemployed at the end of last year and beginning of this year, not I make around $36,000/year, I would say that is definately an improvement.
...But has anyone actualy gotten a signal while flying around in one of those big tin cans?
This picture I found funny, Who knew Golem had Root priveleges to begin with.
What are they going to call it.

Combining vibrators and old people in the same article, no good can come of this.
