    I'm not in the US, but work for an American multinational. Where I live there is a fair bit more pressure on wages in some areas.

    My company also offered a set 2.5% increase this year because that's what they budget for.

    It actually only applies to those people whose skills are in the industry we are in, because of industry consolidation there are two employers, so those people have limited choices.
    Those of us who have transferable skills (I work in IT) have been able to negotiate more. I asked for and received 10% this year, and will be asking for the same next year.
    Our Warehouse manager asked for 25% and was turned down, so he left for even more than that.
    There is not much our American overlords can do about wage inflation in this country.

    I suspect that boomers were the least likely to admit that they have any idea what that means.

    As people get older, they are less likely to put up with stupid marketing nonsense. At least in my experience.

    There's a simple term for what you're describing: Oligarchy.
    Calling it "Socialism" is just giving in to the endless propaganda you are swamped by in the US which tells you that Socialism is the worst thing you could possibly have, and the only good kind of government is the one you live under. (Land of the free and the home of the brave anyone?)
    I know it's hard to look past the propaganda, but if you can you might see your world as it really is.

    You also don't have to register where I live either.
    A person at my camera club has faced this very issue, and instead of suing she just sent an invoice for $5,000 which she claimed was her rate to use the photo.
    When the website did not pay, she called in the debt collectors and wound up getting paid.

    Yup. We played that game in my country, and have paid Hollywood something like $575 million over the last few years.

    Everytime anyone makes any noises about no longer paying the Danegeld, the workers protest in the streets, despite being forced to give up all sorts of worker protections just to keep their jobs.

    That particular A/C is full of shit, and probably has never been to London.
    That whole rant reads like it came from some Mid-Western US basement somewhere, but he is correct about the CCTV quality.
    He is drawing the wrong conclusion of course. If he had ever been to London he would know that no-one worries about CCTV because they all know how shit it is.

    I'm not sure if Uber makes any money anywhere, as according to this article they lost about $4.5 billion last year.

    My theory is that in many US cities the current taxi service is awful, so people who live there assume taxis are rubbish everywhere.
    However, they are really good in some places, for example where I live, and London. This means Uber has no choice but to compete on price, meaning everytime someone hops into an Uber taxi the company loses money.

    If you also factor in Uber attemping to evade their obligations as a taxi company and an employer they might not have much of a future.

    EU would not cooperate they are happy to work with China against the USA's interests.

    Why would the EU work for the USA's interests? I would expect the EU to look to their own interests.

    Why should he even have to sign a NDA? what is IBM hiding?

    Perhaps they're such awful employers that they have to hide their nastiness, lest they be unable to attract good employees in the future.
    I am unsure why you would assume the former employee is at fault here. If he agreed to secrecy what are the chances he had the threat of losing his severance money hanging over his head?

    What seems to be driving the massive cost increase is that free care is increasing, government payments are capped, and the surviving health care providers are squeezing the last handful of us who can still pay the bills.

    Nope, it's because of the insane profits. Your healthcare is expensive because you have the worst possible system.

    This is not even controversial, you pay more and receive less than other western countries because so much of what you pay goes to make the healthcare companies lots and lots of money.

    If you're alluding to Mrs. Huckabee-Sanders I am assuming the reason she was asked to leave that restaurant is because she's an arsehole, and no-one would want to be in the same room as her.
    Its' exactly the same reason young conservatives are whining about nobody with an IQ above room temperature wants to date them.
