I have Kinko's/Staples/ Office Depot cut off the spine ($1-$5), clip it on all sides, and go home to my Fujitsu ScanSnap for ADF scanning, auto color/ b/w selection, and OCR. Oh, and you press the button once and walk away.
I've been saying such shit for years. I'm a young college professor, and I can actually relate to my students' needs: they want engaging, relevant, and digitally-available lectures, but my superiors want to form a task-force before giving me the resources to create open material.
They've even expressed the notion that my not wanting to sell my lectures is weird
You just described every country in the world. Of coarse larger, more metropolitan cities will statistically contain greater numbers of educated folk, and yes, a larger city will have greater allowances with social boundaries and acceptance, so yea, they'll seem more liberal.
Disclosure: I was born in Iran, and live in the States. (and am probably now being "watched" after this post)
I visited LCCC several times when in student government a few years back. They're a legitimate college with a good student population and decent teachers. They're right outside Ocala, FL - halfway between Tallahassee and Orlando.
i dunno.....I'm Iranian (born in Tehran) - American (living in the States), and I damn sure would love to have our boys do something worthwhile rather than shoot shit in iraq.

...and GrandCentral. Lord knows I record or "listinIn" _every_ incoming call from an unknown number and then send the telemarketers "to spam" where I never have to worry about them again.
GrandCentral also has its own spam filter of (supposed) telemarketers, and the application allows friends and family to get right through.
I'm Iranian (and have dual US Citizenship), and have never had any difficulties leaving or returning to the States.
I travel outside the US at least 5 times a year, and typically take my laptop with me.
Aside from the standard x-ray and "i'm gonna open the laptop and then close it back up" check, I've never had any issues.
My most recent adventure took me through 9 European nations, which I honestly reported in my customs form (blue sheet) upon my re-entry. The customs guy asked me why so many nations; I said vacation. He said cool. I was on my way.
pick one.
Gimme a minute to RTFA, and I'll check your router for you.
