The official name is Pound Sterling and normally use to distinguish from other countries currency. The plural is Pounds Sterling. Informal, and not officially, is British Pound.

The pound sign comes from "L". Where LSD - librae, solidi, denarii - was originally used in duodecimal from pounds, shillings and pence.

I never in my life thought that history lesson from high school would ever come in hand.

Actually, what it means is that XP distros will retire from main office computers and go on vacation for a while. After 6 months XP distros will realize that, due to recent medical breakthroughs, they will exist beyond the 10 years predicted when hey first set-up their retirement accounts and have to go back to work to make supplemental money. Thus we will see more XP distros turn up in MacDonald's and as Walmart shelf-stockers. The problem here is that younger, faster distros who are just looking for the foot-in-the-door start and some meager health benefits to support further development of their, education, family and lifestyle will be pushed aside and not given the chance. They will subsequently find themselves in the gutter or sweeping the floors at the local public restrooms, never to blossom forth into the potential they could be.

Nope, I'm just trying to point out that it's more complex than is being presented. If you target the company in it's entirety you need to consider the impact of the employees. Ignoring your Mob argument and going back to the original Ford example, think about who gets impacted by a significant attack on the company. I think if you wanted to go after all wh make money off the company, you're talking all employees, all shareholders, all investors in funds holding the shares...and the list goes on.

Should we not rather see those who abuse our trust go down for the actions, and they would be the decision makers, not the minions.

I think what Teilo is saying is that it isn't Ford who are liable, but the Exec(s)/Managers who are aware and try to cover up. For instance, why screw the folks in the factories and take awat their jobs because the "VP of Product Safety" decided that the number of exploding fuel lines was too small to worry about and promptly ignored it. The law needs to go after VP.

Depends on your viewing habits. Personally, we had Netflix and Comcast. We ditched the $70+/month Comcast TV and kept the $15/month Netflix. The 3 DVD's at a time and the watch instantly easily fill up our month. now, fair enough I don't get to watch everything I want instantly, but that's not important to me and quick math tells me that I'm saving >$840 over the year. I'm streaming Netflix into my 42" TV with coaxial audio and it looks as good as a standard DVD, but then I get damn good download speed at my house. I can see the utility of a stand alone box - as long as it's reasonably responsive.

I know that I'm going to get panned for this by the fruit lovers, but here goes:

    Leopard I hate you!

I have ubuntu at home, I have Vista at home, they make me use a MBP with Leopard at work. Vista, most likely due to it no having to connect to any sort of server, works beautifully. It runs on a many year old Dell 8300 Dimension, streams netflix to the TV, acts as a home office computer and I re-boot it once every 3 weeks, not because it needs to, but because I feel like I should. Ubuntu is on an old Dell 1100 Inspiron upstairs, it acts as my streaming jukebox from my network drive and on-site webbrowser, so we don't have to go downstairs to the mancave or open the work laptops. My work laptop, with Leopard, is the most unstable, constantly updating, out of control, mind-of-it's-own POS that I've ever worked with. Now don't get me wrong, I love the interface, Apple got this OSX thing right, but the machinations underneath the surface just ruin the experience. Most times I 'sleep' the computer I need to restart. Multiple monitors at work? I need to restart. Two days of intense document construction? "Out of memory" and I need to restart. After 2 days the cursor becomes jumpy, I need to restart and the list goes on and on and on. I would like the OSX inteface on a computer that lets me work, using simple productivity packages, day after day after day with no failures - is that too much to ask Apple?
