Depends on the crowd really. I dont really know anyone that uses AIM to tell you the truth. I know a couple of people that use Yahoo, quite a few people using Gtalk (myself included) and the lion's share of my contacts use MSN or talk over Xbox Live
other than we can hope compatibly will be (almost) perfect?
That is the reason. It means we will continue to get compatability without the need for reverse engineering (and a few broken bits) every time they want to make adjustments to the protocol
They are desperate to not lose any more market share to Yahoo, MSN and Google Talk (among others). Hopefully this will keep pressure on the others to open up their networks (except MSN of course) and embrace the fact that having many clients is too much hassle for people and all-in-ones make more sense
I dont see it happening today. Today's world is alot different from 1999, I at least dont expect it happing on Core and Athlon/Phenom chips. The main issue is because of the popularity for Linux.
Both Intel and AMD have a boner for the OS. Do you really expect them to cut the OS out from their chips entirly? They KNOW Linux will not support it, they KNOW Linus will never let DRM into the kernel.
Since open source is big business these days (at least on servers) they realise they could lose a big market out there. AMD have gone so far as to releasing some ATi specifications for open source drivers that could get added into the kernel.
1999 was a long time ago my friend. Sure Intel with stuff like Viiv want to have their cake and eat it, but that's Intel for you. I think if push came to shove, they wouldn't put DRM in all their processors. They know the Linux market would just run to AMD.
Intel and AMD will never comply to putting DRM at the processor level, the open source market is too big to entirly cut them out and its obvious any RIAA DRM solution will NEVER make it's way into the Linux kernel.
Here here, 10 years we have been hearing 'its coming, trust us, believe us it's comming'
I want to see it us much as anyone else but something tells me its going to get a total rewrite using the Crysis engine and we will be told 2010, then some other engine and so on
I think Microsoft would axe Zimbra in a heart beat.
Yes they will, personally for me its care factor = 0. Thats the beauty of open source, you KNOW it will just get forked and the fork will basically be the successor. Look what happened to Mambo/Joomla for far less than axing it.
For the web browser compatibility, I dont know. From what I've tested, Firefox/Linux works better on Microsoft sites than Yahoo so somehow I dont see it getting worse
In the search market a combined search engine between the two still wont knock off Google as the "search king". It does kill off a Microsoft competitor but does Microsoft realise that they are more than anything else killing off a Google competitor?
I agree with you 100% I should have specified I was talking about consoles only. Console online gaming really started good with the Dreamcast, and what Xbox did was put it all on a single network and completed it with the 360 intergration. That is the model that PSN and NWC seem to be going after, for good reason... it works.
Xbox Live basically perfected online gaming, especially on the 360 granted. The home thearter biz makes it better as a box but not as a gaming console. I think its far from the greatest console ever, yes it perfected online but thats pretty much it impart from pretty graphics which improve every generation anyways
I would say the NES because it resurected the industry after the Atari (more specificly ET) destroyed the industry in the 80's and had a massive libary of great games starting franchises that are still around and still rock (Metal Gear, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Castlevania just to name a few)
But with that saying as an old Sega fanboy, my personal fave was the Mega Drive (Genesis).
How so? If you can get SurfaceSound gretting cards, I am sure you can get SurfaceSound bra's and panties. Maybe body paint will be harder but always worth a try
I know GP is a troll, but we need some jokes here that are NOT flames
Ace Rimmer would stand up to the task
... what a guy!

As a Pidgin user I welcome this move.

I thought the important questions are "When can I get my own TX model?" and "Does she put out?"
You must be new here
Too much Assassins Creed anyone?

It's obvious he was pirating Microsoft B.O.B!
The study found that 90% of parents dont know what hidden folders are.

At least it's a step up from beliving dinosaurs were wiped out by some worldwide flood 4000-5000 years ago
Yes but MKA is what you call "overkill". So far (IMO) Marvel vs Capcom 2 was the only one that made that many characters work. I think 30 is plenty.
I got an idea for a new character... who wouldn't love to use Snake beat up Jack Thompson on Brawl???
What I found funny was their aim to hire someone to remove all pornographic images.
Does anybody remember the time MySpace got Goaste'd?
For those who dont: http://digg.com/tech_news/MySpace_Gets_Goatse_d NOTE: The link in the digg story does NOT contain Goatse itself
