I figured someone else would like to enjoy it now, so I sold my used CD (with box) on eBay. I got royally fucked when the guy who bought it from me couldn't even install it because apparently the cd-key becomes bound on use. So, to prevent the hassle of having the item returned and getting negative feedback, I went to the store, yanked open a box, wrote down the serial number and left, and gave the guy the new serial number, he was happy. Does this make me a thief? I somehow don't think so, I'm allowed to sell the shit I bought.
Does their new system fix this issue of not being able to sell your used crap? No, it doesn't. It's still the same crap and it's still DRM.
While it's true that the pieces are "captured" during the game, the part about redemption is not true. Pawns that reach the eighth rank of the board are Promoted. Unlike redemption, promotion is not limited to pieces that have already been captured.
I think Total Annihilation is the only game out there where all players have the same abilities and resources, but how they decide to use them changes the whole game. Each side has wheeled, legged, flying, hovering and floating (naval) units. The game gives you unlimited resources at limited rate. Since all sides have roughly the same units, the game depends largely on how you react to your opponents' strategy. There's no fixed general strategy, it keeps the game challenging and entertaining. That's something I will never install on my computer, even if it gave out free music I rather download my music from reputable and accountable sources.
