As I sit here listening to the new Bloodhound Gang CD (won't hit store shelves until next Tuesday) and watching the new Family Guy movie (see previous parenthetical)--both of which were released by industry insiders--it strikes me that maybe the US in this case, and the RIAA/MPAA in others, might possibly be going after the wrong people.
But don't let that stop you, lawmakers! You give those foreign governments hell!
"Patrick Mahoney, an analyst at Yankee Group, said that traditional phone lines are cash cows, so allowing customers to buy Internet access without traditional phone service would be costly to telecom providers."
Cry me a fucking river, ILECs. Since this is supposedly a capitalist society, why don't you get off your lazy asses and provide some value and customer satisfaction to get your business instead of whining about all the people who want to desert your broken ship?
I was about to buy a friend's laptop for $300 until I opened my mouth and told him how much they were going for on eBay. Some people really don't have an idea of how much things are worth sometimes. On the other hand, it's not the police force's job to punish people; they arrested him on suspicion of receiving stolen property (or something similar)...it's the job of the court system to determine whether it was intentional and hand out punishment if needed.
I've been waiting for Intel to issue a press release admitting that they were wrong in every aspect and that AMD has a strong case against them. Intel's claims of innocence really threw me for a loop.
"Also don't forget that the data stream isn't completely from you a lot of times. it's mixed."
And that's the really interesting thing about all these lawsuits that might come out if someone challenges it far enough. "I uploaded 1167 files? Kindly give my attorney any relevant logs so he can see exactly what percentage of each file I allegedly uploaded."
If you've only transmitted part 2 of 54 of "01 - Britney Spears - Talentless Bimbo.mp3" then why should you be liable for the full penalty for infringement?
Mods: "Insightful"? Is *anyone* reading previous posts, many of which point out that the report is IBM propaganda just like this guy is whining about? Jesus.
"Vegetables are much healthier in regards to antioxidants. It is mentioned briefly in the article"
The article says the same thing the writeup does, which is coffee has more antioxidants than vegetables. The article does point out, however, that vegetables are better nutritionally. There's a shocker.
It's been pointed out to me that there are two exceptions to this: When someone willfully infringes copyright for monetary gain, or when someone commits 10 or more acts of infringement in a 180-day period where the value of the copyrighted material is over $2,500, then it becomes a criminal offense.
The law sets the maximum possible penalty for the second *and subsequent* offenses under this law to 10 years. Please tell me who received 25 years as a result of violating this law, assuming they're in the US.
Even more precisely, it's a marketing attempt to generate buzz about a product by getting company whores to act like real people and claim their product is great. As such, I wouldn't go within 100 yards of this movie no matter how much I liked the series (assuming I'd ever watched it). Not because the company whores are necessarily wrong about the awesomeness of their product, but because marketing hacks are soulless leeches and they all deserve to be kicked in the nuts.
Modafinil is also habit-forming, which is the main reason I don't actively seek it anymore. I did get a shitload of extra stuff done while I was awake, though.

Sshhh! No one tell them about filetype:lit
"Not sure if I should release this exploit before the service has even started"
Not to worry; Slashdot beat you to it by about a year.
The titanium cover really speeds up that processor. I'm going to slap an R-Type sticker on it too for that little extra boost of power.
I thought the real bad news is that it's a VW.
I can start driving SUVs again. Hooray!

Since you took time out of your busy schedule of not caring to post, you tell me.
"Bloomberg speculates that this deal would profit both companies."
Wow, those Bloomberg analysts are really earning their money...
*Your* family jewels? Didn't read the EULA, did you?
One man's "cool human interest story" is another man's "slow news day."
They don't run Windows. Better brush up on your karma-whoring.

Copyright infringement is a civil offense.
What the fuck are you babbling about?
So you decided to cheapen the seriousness of AIDS by making a lame joke connecting it to Win95? That's classy.

Hey, what else are the monkeys going to do with their time? Fling poop? Now they have a little excitement in their lives.
Tubgirl's not so bad...it's lemonparty (dot org) that you have to watch out for.

Your hairless ape curiosity won't let you stay away for long.
