  1. A rose by any other name ... on AT&T Calls Telecommuters Back To the Cubicle · · Score: 1

Perhaps the "phone company" is just a comapany like any other company, and has found out that the telecommuter's job can be outsourced. I can just imagine some worker in India is piss mad cause some American telecommuter stole his job.

Why not make backups when it is so easy to with digital data? Maybe we also shouldnt buy car insurance and just drive extra careful.

You try to sell things to your customers. Customers are happy when they dont have to do a lot of work to buy from you. Isnt it obvious to make them do the least amount of work to buy from you?

Take out the internet from the process and all you got is a customer phoning up a business and order something. and the customer just has to give his basic info if the customer has an account with the store, and doesnt even have to give payment info at the time of ordering.

So ... the real reason he was let go was he was too knowledgable. Mr. Nirhamo spoke his opinion and backed it up with a list of reasons for that opinion. These same reasons were also not contested by 'Microsoft members'.

No it does not emphasize the difference between an inventor, scientist and engineer. He did not demonstrate any critical thinking during the video clip. He says the bike can do 0-60mph in 0.9 seconds. With that much power, he was just not thinking about what he was doing. He was more interested in showing off and listing sponsors

That is a great analogy, but the blame still resides with the same person; the owner of the road (or network). The UPS trucks in your analogy pay the same tolls as the other normal users. The toll owner is now getting increased profits but decides not to use it to maintain/upgrade the roads. The toll owner is now getting richer and neglating the roads. No one to blame but himself in this situation.

Come on, have some sympathy. First Slashdotters say that big artists should make most of their money from live performances. Then why they try to make millions that way, you deny them that too!

I have no problem with artists earning a living by what they do, I have a problem with artists thinking that they deserve big money for a one time performance or making a album and living off that for whatever number of years it is now.
