Yeah, that is a ridiculous description. No one uses TCP for real-time work, which is the only time a lost packet would be noticeable to any end user.

It's also something you notice after a while, but almost everyone else at Apple kind of behaves the same. Always upbeat, hip, and very passionate. That sounds horrible. I for one would take a low salary to avoid working at Stepford Corp.; don't play everyone acting the same as a positive.

But they stick it to the little guy! If you ask me, the underdog wins too much these days. Making money was never their goal. It was always to strike fear into the hearts of pirates. But since pirates are pretty good at RIAA countermeasures, they have to settle for striking fear into the hearts of children, old ladies and dead people.

Have you had a bad experience with cable locks? In my experience, they're pretty secure, and if people in your office have such sticky fingers that a cable lock is no deterrent, you should quit working in a crack house and get a different job.

However, assuming you don't go cable lock + locked drawer:

The convenience of just sticking stuff in a big metal box is appealing; have you considered building one yourself? It doesn't seem too difficult if you can find access to the tools.

As a student at Duke (undergrad in computer engineering) let me say that the campus *isn't* all wireless. All the dorms have wired connections; only one has all-dorm wireless and it sucks. It's critical in the sense that I won't be able to sit outside McDonald's or in my lectures dicking around on slashdot, but the campus won't really come to a halt because iPhones are screwing up the WLAN.
