I find that throwing hardware at bad programmers helps to solve this problem. If you want to save some cost, throw bad hardware at bad programmers... you get to throw harder too. The more you practice, the better your throw becomes.
Sounds like a combination of HP Mediasmart Server + Dropbox is a good solution. Use the MSS/WHS to perform daily backups of the clients automatically, provide user accounts and storage space, has web share and DLNA capabilities. Then add Dropbox to backup that MSS to another remote box. This way, you get daily backups, and can do full system restore, while you can also get daily or weekly backups of the MSS into a central location.
Geeze. Don't blow a fuse. He was joking about the MBA... it's like a netbook because it has limited connectivity options and you get all defensive about it.
Because some folks don't have a fast/big connection? How about those playing from other countries with higher latency? What if you wanted to reinstall from a crash?
I know I'll be getting the update via downloads. I hate collecting boxes.
And I use Linux for work/scripting/automation/server backend. I use Windows for my MMO fix. The thing I hate most about gaming on Windows is that you need to turn off/disable everything to make the machine run better (ok, if you have an older PC and want to play a more CPU intensive game). Booting up, turning off the anti-virus, and just about everything in your taskbar gets old really fast (and sometimes even self-defeating too, esp with the AV). That's why I decided to get a console just to play (non-MMO) games. The modern consoles are almost as good as computers now. With built-in browsers, you can do just about anything with a console now, without having to install a billion-and-one dependencies first.

Yeah, and then report that you only worked 40 hours instead.
I'm surprised that almost everyone just talks about IE only compatibility with Netflix, and no support for Mac and Linux. I would be willing to bet that if the next company that has a solution for not only Windows, Mac and Linux, but also for browsers on the Wii, PS3 and Xbox, or whatever devices that are already connected to the tv/entertainment center, then that will really be the real winner. Why add one more device, to the entertainment center some of us are "port challenged" (eg, I'm already out of hdmi ports on my receiver).
Even if you lived in a non English speaking country?

Used *nix much? Executables do not need to have an extension.

Is that a reference to Zoolander?

That's because they are iDiots.
I can't wait to see the Mac vs PC ad version with this theme.
Only problem is that it won't do well for streaming. Well, that would be the biggest problem.
I have a SPARC going on 12 years now with the original HD in it. I'm always paranoid when it comes to rebooting the machine.
It's OK for Apple to bundle software with their OS. It's not OK for MS to bundle software with their OS.
Because you need to pay Apple royalties for every Firewire interface you build.
