- What's its native printing resolution? Does it spit out 600, 1200, or higher DPI, or does it take (for example) a 2000dpi camera image and crunch it down to 600 or even a cheap-ass (looking at you again Sharp) 300 dpi?
comparing the dpi of a printer to the dpi of a camera doesn't work. Printer dots are on or off (1 bit), camera pixels are gradual (usually 8 bit).
I use EyeTV also and love it. At my house the live digital streams sometimes are a bit weak. I like the ability to pause the stream for about 10-15 seconds and then any hiccups in the stream are skipped over automatically with EyeTV. Do other systems do this kind of thing?
Oh well... At lest nobody else (that I know) is installing Abble crapware by default. The day some big name intalls iTunes, QuickTime, Safary or other Abble Supercrap, as default, that's the last day I buy such a brand for us.
Apple faced a similar problem with it's retail presence. I can't tell you how many times I walked into circuit city and was told not to buy a mac. Apple was smart when they did there own retail presence, and they are smart in writing exchange support for Snow Leopard.
Upon a -fresh- install of IE8, you are -asked- what default search provider (and accelerator and a few other things) you want, and Google is in those lists.
You are wrong. I just did it yesterday, and the only choice I had was to leave the default search provider set to bing, or I was allowed to delay my switch to another provider once the setup wizard had completed.
I just did a fresh install of xp and ie8. It was maddening trying to set google as my default search engine AND to remove bing from the list. It was definitley setup up in way to make it unintuitive.

Yeah yeah, I know Wikipedia isn't a govenment, but you get the idea.
Got it. So the manufacturer with the widest range wins.
Not sure how that information is useful.
When I got a phone I asked for the cheapest one I could find. So if that happens to be a Nokia then it proves Nokia has better phones? I think the posters logic is flawed.
This game is amazing. I wonder what would happen if each little rectangle were only controlled by one person. I wonder how long it would take a group to "cooperatively" solve the puzzle. If everyone could see the whole but only control their button. It seems like a 3^80 problem could probably be solved in seconds with 80 people on it.
I disagree. I played for quite a bit and was at a level that had 70 of those little rectangles. So at 3 choices per rectangle that is 3^70
3^70 = 2.5031555*10^33
So thats a 10 with 33 little zeros behind it. I solved it in less than 5 minutes. I am not sure I understand what 10 with 33 zeros behind it is but thats a very large number. Could somone tell me how long it would take a computer to loop through that many numbers
Ahh, Your comment makes more sense now.
and... DNS is "stuff that matters".
Its funny how the Google hype is driving so much talk about something like DNS, a service which probably 95% of non-tech people don't know exists.
Your confused, Slashdot is News for Nerds, not for the other 95%.

Woooosh
I would be happy to forgo VGA if DVI wasn't so encumbered with DRM.
As a responsable IT person at my university

Hmmm... responsable IT person
"Strong-arming" how? Did they have guns? Automatic or semi-auto?
Both.
They one.
I think you have the chronology correct. But I am not so sure about your spelling.
So basically anything with USB or FireWire can't get in as well? It is trivial to add a camera to an "existing" USB port.

This seems to go way beyond simple scripting. Might I recommend the actual article.
Sort of like the difference between an ms-dos batch file and a C program

Just tried it, and found it interesting that "based on 135 ratings" Bing had 5 stars, and Google, "based on 115 ratings" only had 4 stars.
I find that amazing of the millions of people using IE8 only 115 have weighed in on google and only 135 have weighed in on Bing.

Thomas Paine in his book Common Sense said.

Since Apple only have one phone, and Nokia etc have loads of different products...
You didn't read the summary. It plainly states that the 16GB iphone is number 9. That would indicate 2 things
The law is clear eh. Ok help clarify it for me. What "work" did he circumvent illegally?

In other words they are inalienable.
But sir thats the point - It is difficult to make an informed decision when the information recieved is from Microsoft.
WOW! Its free! And I am sure Microsoft would love for everyone to continue to think that.
And the government is out to get nice cuddly Microsoft for anti trust. How can it be they give me their OS for free.
No Microsoft gives their stuff away, Apple is the one charging to much for their stuff ;)
