Wish I had upvotes - but instead I'll reply. The TV industry globally is in dire need of this kind of thing. The impossibly slow menu systems of most SAT/Cable TV systems are bad enough. Then you look at the awful impenetrable remotes with buttons everywhere. I can easily imagine a company like Apple magically hiding the complexity behind a veneer of smooth touch screen goodness that automates 95% of the crap and demos amazingly well. A TV app store optimised for Apple's TV remote control interface would be revolutionary for most people used to the incumbents. The TV market is prime hunting ground.
And I'm not even an Apple fan! Given all the unix based TV operating systems out there (Samsung I'm looking at you) this could have happened long ago given the right investment. Clearly they've all had it coming.
How can they back a bill like this whilst simultaneously the Phone Hacking scandal continues unabated? Isn't this exactly the same thing, only on a grander scale?
For the code itself, as other people have said, I would far prefer an expert to hunt-and-peck 100 lines of awesome than have some random person bash out 1000 lines of WTF at 150 WPM. Where the real difference comes in IMO is the documentation/commenting of said code. In my experience, if someone has difficulty typing quickly they are far less likely to document and comment their code as frequently as someone who can type well. So it's still worth learning even if you are an expert:)
Apparently most stores only got 10 or so units and they sold out immediately. Pretty hard to sell more units of something if you don't have the stock.

This already exists. XBMC has been ported to Windows, MacOS and Linux. A small nettop like the Asrock ION 330 is smaller and quieter than either the XBox 360 or the PS3 and is more than capable of playing back high def content.
'As a result of studio cutbacks, however, many of the writers who went on strike are unlikely to return to the same big-money contracts they'd had as individuals with the studios.'
It seems like no-one won from these strikes. TV companies take write downs, writers are not paid as well as they were, everyone looses.
For the fact that if you pick your spot right you can have beaches and snowboarding right on your doorstep. However, the things that stop me from going are that it is a bit of a one-way trip if you do move out there (I live in England at the moment and moving back home again if I chose to do so would be very expensive), and also it's damn far away so I wouldn't be able to stay in touch with friends and family as easily as I do now. Also I've heard that IT jobs are few and far between. Can any residents there comment?
This is a sad day for gamers everywhere. Lik-sang were one of the finest gaming websites anywhere in the world. Lets hope the founders setup another website similar to lik-sang very shortly.
I completely agree with you. I'm an adult gamer (28) and my time is at a premium compared to how it used to. However, I do still play games when I can on my 360. I managed to finish Oblivion (1000/1000 GS) because it's a game you can play for either 5 minutes or 5 hours. You can save at any time and walk away and come back to it and it's exactly as you left it. However, Dead Rising is currently sat gathering dust because of its one-slot, you can't save anywhere save system. The last time I sat down to play it we were late to get to a party because I spent 15 minutes running around trying to find a save point. In the end I just gave up and powered the thing off. I haven't gone back to it since.
I've been there not so long ago. All the PCs are iMacs (there are about 15 in total). The base units are locked away in a 'pod' display type thing so there is no access to USB ports or floppy discs or anything like that. Whatever you download you can't take with you. Also it's fairly heavily censored using a websense based proxy so don't think for a second you'll be downloading hundreds of megs of mp3s or anthing like that.
The whole place is owned by BT. I've visited and there is BT branding everywhere.
The 100mbit is probably with reference to the LAN the PCs are located on. When I surfed on the iMacs there it certainly didn't feel like the fastest internet surfing I've done.
I mean, getting struck by lightning is a pretty freak event in itself. What are the chances of you being on the phone while it happened?
Surely there are other, more important things to be worried/afraid of? Isn't this just another one of those slow news days? Or the media trying to give people something else to be scared of?
Why would you buy just the movie for this price when you can get the retail DVD with a load of extras for about the same cost? Are they going to provide the Extras as an addon that you can download separate to the movie itself?
..Don't get your hopes up that you'll get one on launch day. Play received over 400 pre-orders on the first day this went live, and it's been up for a few weeks now.
And just because you are first doesn't mean you will get one. They will send the units out to their biggest customers first, rather than those who were first in the queue. Just ask any number of dissapointed people who tried to pre-order a 360 from Play, only to have to find one elsewhere when their preorder wasn't honored

Monkey Island 2? Sam N Max? Day of the Tentacle? Etc. Superb animation and locations even today. I'd definitely have put those in there above Lumines.
You can get the 360 now and you know what you're getting. It is well documented and understood with a robust list of good games coming in the latter part of the year.
PS3 will be on first gen games when it launches in November and at present no one really knows how the thing will work, seeing as no-one (not even developers) has seen the final production model yet.
So if you want a new games console now, get the 360. If you can wait 9 months for the dust to settle ask this question again then.

I don't have mod points but +1 to this!

What's that in Libraries of Congress?
There was an election?

I guess I'll have to buy the White album again

I wonder if play-asia.com are worried?
