    6 months?! Jesus thats a long amount of time. Im lucky if my version of XP remains un self destructed for 6 weeks. Id hate to think how quick vista will break itself. Pretty soon you wont get a disk anymore, windows will have just destroyed itself before you get anywhere near it.

    When it comes to software performance, it's pretty useless to compare the performance of your software to a previous version of that same software. You need to compare your performance to that of the current leader in the same market.
    Im sorry but your post got less credible after this sentence. Mainly because IE is the leader in the current market. Im not a vole fanboy, i even hate it more than most, but you need to compare firefox with the market leader, like you said. Which IE is currently. Which it is a huge margin better than.

    Now I might not be that old but marches over our freedom and privacy is what this current situation needs. Marching on issues seems to be regarded as archaic and improper these days... I refuse to fill in the next UK Census. Bring on the £1000 fine, I dont care. Id pay £10000 in the name of privacy and freedom.

    I just hope we dont all sit here saying we cant let our freedoms die and just let them slip past whilst we are debating semantics.

    I may be missing something here and someone may have alreay said it, but didnt google buy massive amounts of nationwide Dark Fiber a while back? Say someone on ISP A wants to get information from google at B, but they have to pass over backbone C, But google aint playing ball with Backbone C so they restrict their traffic. Couldnt google just send the data directly to ISP A over their Dark Fiber missing out Backbone C entirely? Feel free to flame/destroy me here

    Also today in a press release Universal Music was speaking of its plans to DRM records and lock them to one specific player. A spokesman said "Our new Record technology will help to protect ourselves, er, i mean our artists against better ideas in the future". In a counter statement the slashdot community said that this was total bullshit.

    Im still waiting for a half life movie. That would pull in some revenue. If they gave out free copies of the game with tickets might even be able to get some of these younger kids into PC gaming (The one true form). I know Half-Life got me into it.

    Im not a fan of microsoft, hell im not even neutral to em, and i live in the EU (Wish i didnt because importing stuff is a bitch and they keep trying to take our pound away... but thats another story). Microsoft accidentally created this market through bad coding and this gave rise to the big security players. The tech community routinely bludgeons M$ about the bad secuirty in its products and as it takes steps to counter its own bad coding and poor security issues in the past it gets slapped with an anti-trust suit. Its a no win situation for microsoft. It created the market so how is it monopolistic to take it away by fixing problems?

ISP's digging spammers gardens up to look for buried treasure? Watch out AOL, Im sure a producer will be on you to make a movie out of this. You just cant make this sort of stuff up.
