    for a minute. then i realized i can just pirate a copy of XP and not deal with this crap.

    it still runs all my games, which is really all i use windows for. it also installs faster, boots faster, and runs faster on my dual core. why did we have vista again?

    comcast obviously doesnt think they have a customer base.

    when i see "automatic crash recovery" i cant help but think "perpetual browser spawn."

    or worse, automatic crash recovery is another vector for cache clearing and exploit. what happens if i know your browser can be forced to load my page twice?

    I dont mean to sound trollish, but knowing microsoft we're just keeping up with the joneses (namely Firefox 3.) if we really wanted to improve things, we wouldnt make the browser nearly inextricably integrated with the operating system. Its a marketing decision that microsoft will pay the price for over and over.

    anyone using an ad blocker is not a potential viewer generating revenue. the more adblockers there are, the less internet revenue from ads there will be
    because less eyes will see the ads (unless im missing something)
    I fail to see why everyone hasnt adopted ad blockers and the entire model of
    internet advertising hasnt collapsed overnight.

    you pay for the internet so you can be online, surf the web, and have most of the bandwidth youre charged for wicked away by dancing home loan girls and ironkey ads.

    its nice to see our overlord developers doing "whats best" for us, but let me pose this scenario

    im a software vendor required by corporate policy to maintain my code for 10 years for development purposes. i develop a series of plugins for firefox 2, so my customer walgetco can use it to browse their SAP database alongside their website.

    i dont have the option to upgrade to FF 3 because walgetco says it must be developed for their already deployed base of 300,000 walgetco terminals running FF2. besides, ff3 wont work with app X which is also included.

    do walgetco employees put up with the nagscreen?

    good point. i was in a pub and caught the opening ceremony. USA took the field, and we heard one or two cries of "usa" from the pool tables. as soon as the next team took the field, we switched it back to Setanta.

    is in-site and outsource. failed in house tech tends to put alot of pressure on the in house support staff hired to maintain the tech, but im thinking most management is wondering if they could withstand the black eye of losing something like this if they hosted it at google



    this would be much less of a concern if they open sourced the entire group of apps, and offered hosting as an option. IT Managers could evaluate it on a more level cost benefit ground.

    i guess another question, is this really something that should be web based?

    then again, im not certain most corporations have a good idea what a blog is. examples include my local mall having a "blog" and our vp of finance starting a blog by stating "today we are going to blog about...."
