Wait, how are my options shallow? And how does your reason not fall under "uninterested"? There are many reasons why one would be uninterested in casting a ballot. It doesn't have to be that they don't care about politics. I myself may not cast a vote for the presidential election, but I'll still vote on propostions et al. I'd vote for a third party, but the candidate from the third party that represents my views has a poor track record doing so.

I don't think "disenfranchised" is the appropriate word here, as it connotes blame lying directly on the ones administering the vote. To lessen the flames here we can admit that a small percentage of people truly are disenfranchised by government processes. The large majority of those who didn't vote were just too lazy or uninterested. The only blame we can lay at the government's feet for those is in our backwards education system. But that's another story.

Wow, this cop thing is straying pretty off-topic. I understand you there with mod points who wishes to mark it so.

Let me say first that Mr. Beckerman has contributed much to a cause that many of us here care about. He has also been key in keeping us up-to-date on the vagaries of the popular music cartel. He deserves any support we can give him.

On cursing coppers: I think we might all be a little better off with cops who acted more like your average citizen. So many of our policemen (It's a nueter pronoun, get over it) have drank this "make them feel as though you have a right to make them give up theirs" kool-aid. Wouldn't it be nice to feel like the police were regular citizens that sacrificed to make sure our rights are protected? I for one often feel like they've become hall-monitors looking for any reason to harass the populace in the name of law and order. Imagine if instead of making you feel interrogated, they pointed out succinctly that you're being an ass.

Defending the RIAA is worse than working directly for them. At least their employees have big piles of money to sate their burning consciences.

I'm all for artists making money for their work. This is one of the best reasons to be anti-RIAA. Besides raping record sales for the majority of the profits, they are pursuing a broken business model by throwing more of their members' money at it.
