    Ayup, and when there is a mishap, how do you evacuate the remaining living people from a vacuum tube suspended in/over the ocean? I tend to think the proponents of this boondoggle suffers from a vacuum between their ears.

  3. The problem with a roller coaster - which is what a high speed train is - is the lateral accellerations due to small imperfections in the rail/pipe that can bruise and injure the passengers.

    Am I the only one that sends email to myself? It works cross platform, at home, at work and even on the road and can handle attachments and forwarding to others.

    I think you dismiss the alternatives too easily. I haven't used Windows for about 10 years now and I can't say that I miss the malware and high maintenance experience.

    Easy, encrypt the real text traffic and provide a backdoor that generates innocent text generated by an AI. If the encryption is good, then the gubmint won't be able to prove that the spoofed text isn't the correct text.

    Well, maybe you should read the article. They postulate that the exhaust is indeed paired photons, which are impossible to observe. I'm just not convinced that such an EM drive will be more efficient than simply placing a lump of decaying matter at the focus of a reflector and using ordinary infrared photons as the drive.
