Sorry but you misunderstand this concept about wireless. It send it out its port "aerial" which is then broadcast to "all" clients. So both machines can see this. The clients on the lan can only see a single mac for all nodes on an access point. Which is the mac of an access point connected to the wan. This is how a bridge works.
The same attack works on a hub. But nothing in this situation is actually being "switched" while you are spoofing the mac....
Then I suggest you try it. Spoof a mac from a machine which is on another machine and make sure one of the machines is allocated a different ip address. You will be surprised by the events when they unfold.
It may not work with wpa / wpa2 (never tried) but it will work with wep (tried). Both machine will just see each other's ip traffic and drop them at the ip stack.
The following can also work. It is possible to shadow a wireless user using wep / the same mac and the same ip address. So long as both machines have a stateless firewall which drops everything by default. It will prevent the hosts from interfering with each other:)
Coming from around that area I can assure you that this will not stop him from stealing again. All he will do is go out an get another xbox. You go round to his mates and play on his xbox (probably also stolen).
The teenagers around here are almost unique. At the start of each summer we have the 12th July also known locally as the "silly season". When school stops at the end of June and the kids have nothing on for the next two months they tend to kick off the summer with a little bit of recreational rioting!
It happens year after year and nothing is really ever done about it.
We all know that whatever methods being used to generate power there are risks.
I would like to see some stats on the number of direct and estimated indirect deaths involved per kwh hour produced for each techs.
Along with the number of life serious injuries. eg where the recovery time is greater than a year. Or permanent.
After all no matter which tech we use. People will always die from it. eg wind turbines with ice flying off blades and hitting people....
Really It is about time we came up with some good ideas to try to prevent this sort of things.
We see it on blogs (backlink spam)
We see it on smtp
We see it on rdp
We see it on website
We see it on outlook web access
We see it on almost every service!
What about getting anyone who is aware of it to click on all the adverts every time they see them?
This would mean that their pages would have $0.00 worth of valid advertising.
There must be some point of abuse that could be given back to prevent them from doing this.
Umm just like to point out that in the UK all speed limits are in miles per hour. All traffic distances are in miles as well.
Most places still display both measurement scales.
I remember something like this in gunship 2000 where it would do a piracy check by entering a code from the book. I was about 10-12 at the time but didn't understand what it was really asking I just wanted to fly. MY dad figured it out after phoning their support line...
First time you blow something up it would crash out with a meaningless error message!
Try using solar power in ireland:)
It only took 20-30 years for a photo to be taken from space with a picture of ireland not having any cloud above it:)
From the way this winter has been (when power is needed most) i don't think we would have any solar power from october - march!
But yet more people have been killed directly installing / running wind turbines or other renewable energy sources in the last 10 years than they ever have been from nuclear power over the last 50 years. Not to mention the number of people who have also been badly injured.
May by its about time to start looking at the real risk here and measuring the number of watt's produced by the number of people killed!
If you go further back and look at the accident china had with a broken dam that killed 230k people and caused bad issues for a further 10 million people then you will see what I am on about here:)
So there is a bad car crash and some military vetern who has seen it all, been in it all and keeps his cool under pressure. Cannot raise help for the other may by 8-10 people who really really need help?
Thats perfectly fine. I will use a proxy and then I will only be technically using a single device from your point of view!
But hey since you cannot actually tell what devices I have in my house that use the internet without digging into my data they I will be using ipsec to somewhere else.
Of course though you have to get all isp's in the UK to change to this billing model together otherwise all your customers are going to leave and join the other isp. This is also fine because the crap isp's that are coming up with this stuff don't work anyway.
Is this not why people have a pin on their phone?
Oh wait next they are going to be slapping little bobby in jail for not giving up his password under the terrorism act
Being in N.Ireland it normally is daylight by around 9am in the middle of winter. Except for around 2 weeks around the 21st December. However something that would effect us that typically in the longer days in the summer if they were moved by 2 hours instead of 1 would mean on the longest days it would be day light to long after midnight. Being a little further north and being a little further east buys up about 45mins - 1 hour extra daylight time towards the end of the day.
Typically in June around here the sun comes up at around 4am and sets at around 11pm:)
So we would have 5am -> 12am days.
I actually like the idea but only because I do some outdoor water sports in the evenings in the summer. However since the company I work for offer's flexible working hours (up to an hour each way) it really does make a sods lot of difference what the government do.
I suspect the people in aberdeen would have some important things to say about it. In winter I think there day light hours are 10am -> 3:30pm or something along thoose lines.
Actually the system does't work without it.
Loo at the following. Its a gps device and a code is required. Ok so I would give it to the school nerd to carry for the day and for that agree not to beat him up. However I may have not had a chance to get the device off the person at the end of the day. So unfortunately the person skipping school gets cough out later @ 8pm because the device is still in the home of the other person carrying the device.
Now you have two people in trouble!
I like how they only ever compare to how much has melted each summer.
However these types of articles fail to mention how much melted and how much of those melted areas froze again the following winter.
Without an accurate comparison of how much re-froze the information is completely worthless. Of course it almost needs to be calculated on a volume of everything based in the artic circle as it may not freeze again in the same area's
Also not to mention has anyone published anything about how much is melting on top compared to how much is freezing on the bottom in the opposite season?
it may have been the warmest summer in the artic. It may also have been the coldest winter in the antartic!
What about websites simply getting there own back. Redirecting users to a page with the information on it to describe what the end users isp is doing.
Where the redirected page looks something like an IE6 warning going something like this.
Dear...... We notice that the internet connection you are using is BT based. We have some issues with this because they do not provide enough bandwidth to deliver content from our site to its end users (that would be you) etc.. etc.. We would recommend that you switch to one of the following isp as they do not traffic limit content providers..
Talk talk, BeThere, O2.... etc.. etc... Great chance for the web sites to actually extort money from the other isp's to appear on the recommended list which is really getting their own back on the isp's but probably not recommended:)
I for one say to them let them try and see what happens. When things stop working for the end user. they are going to speak with the nearest techie they know and that techie is going to recommend a different isp anyway.
I wonder how long it took them to actually figure this out?
I wonder how much money was spent trying to figure it out.
If only the people upstairs would listen to the lower down experts for a change instead of wasting everyone's time!

Why? It does not actually matter if the mac address is in use or not.

Last time I looked for it. It did not exist :)
Does not matter if a Tsunami hit certain parts of the UK we would be buggered anyway. Might as well go out glowing :)

I keep hearing about wireless. How it works and does all these wonderful things. I am still yet to see it work
