Why not concentrate on the bottlenecks
In comparison to the processor, is RAM not a bottleneck? An improvement in an area that has less need is still an improvement.
There's no reason they can't design the next step in another 2 or 3 years.
There are many projects they had planned for Vista that were never completed ( WinFS for example ). Assuming they are near completion, some of them would designate an "overhaul" of the core of Windows. Rather than trying to force them into a semi-stable environment as a service pack, MS may as well use them in the next version.
Nobody usually reads the article, but now with such a summary, who's gonna read anything past the title?
Does this mean they will start censoring the summaries as well as the articles?
balance of story and pure game play
Good point. There are too many games that ignore gameplay altogether. Beautiful graphics and intruiging storylines are great, but awkward control schemes and pathetic camera angles can kill. However, many wonderfully designed RPGs have little to no plot.
random number as my student ID rather than my social security number
Many schools now are using ids rather than social security numbers. They are not random, but sequential in order of admittance to the school. As I recall, I had to use my social security number only once, and that was as validation for my student id.
One important point that many people seem to ignore is that java seems to have huge number of freely available libraries
The biggest argument I have against C++ is the disorganization of the libraries. Having used Java, I find them (generally) well structured and easy to use with minimal previous experience required. I will admit, however, that the libraries often feel bloated in their generality.
Good point, but there is also the other perspective. The gang will have the cracker's personal information (required to pay the tuition bills), making it more of a challenge for him to hide if things don't go well. There would have to be a strong trust beyond the average employer/employee mindset or else a false move by either side will cause everyone to get caught.
Sadly, mine did... for MIS at least. I took the class just for the hell of it and hated every moment. I remember for the midterm we had to draw the gui by hand, and I had points taken off because I didn't label the size ( in pixels ) of a textbox.
Thankfully, the computer science department used Java and C++.
Perhaps DNF is SP3. The characters, rather than being the traditional Duke Nukem pigs, will be security vulnerabilities and viruses. Also, whenever a powerup is found, a new patch will be installed. Let's just hope it isn't a cliffhanger...
Also IMO, they should add in an auto-level system so that the game can, say, run Deadmines as a higher level dungeon by bumping up the levels of all the monsters.
This would also prevent higher-level players from farming in lower-level dungeons.
Abducting and probing humans has destroyed the alien economy. They are now forced to work long hours in sweatshops and tech-support centers. One day, they shall rise to management and take over the Earth!
Actually a bigger problem that will come up with the system is will it allow lefties to hold the wiimote in the left hand and the nunchuck attachment in the right hand
You'd probably have to swing the controller with the left hand anyways, seeing as Link himself is left-handed.
Is it time to change the Bill Gates Borg to the Steve Balmer Borg?
Perhaps he is the Borg queen.

Overuse of a word? Inconceivable!
This is beyond complete stupidity.
For what reason would they allow a site access to the clipboard?
That's why we have to crush mankind!
This sounds like it would make a good movie.....

I've noticed the same thing with a fresh install of XP and a fresh install of SP2. Nothing else had been added yet.
Maybe the researchers are addicted to researching addictions. Someone should research the researchers' addictions to researching addictions.....
I'm looking forward to the day I can play WoW in Second Life, ruining my life in that world as well as the 'real' one.

Monsters are no match for a man with a shotgun. I wonder if this is where Bruce Campbell got his insperation...
HD is nice, but many people still have televisions that don't support it.
Netscape often comes pre-installed with an OEM machine.

We won't see any improvement until either AMD forces it upon them or their sales drop. Personally, I think the first option is the most likely.
Does the porn company have filters on their computers?

So you don't plan to upgrade to Leopard?
