I agree on this point. Cops spend a few weeks searching all over a probable killer's place for evidence (the now ex-football player) before actually arresting and charging him (which is proper), being careful even though it seems clear that he was at least involved; but this guy makes a joke and they just nab him, without him having actually done anything illegal and with no evidence that he would have? Just not right.

I say go for it. I'm 39 and have just changed FROM programming into something different, but my father was an Air Force pilot for 20 years, programmer for 10 years after leaving the military, was out of programming for 10 years in another industry, and has recently (as in, four weeks ago) gone back to programming at the age of 62. He was hired because he has proven over and over again that he is adaptable and capable of learning. In an economy that saw my negative-minded, high-school-only 56-year-old mother-in-law look for work for over 40 weeks, my father found his new job inside of a month, without knowing anyone within the company who hired him.

I'm not saying it's easy-peasy, but if you have skills and desire, you're likely to do well. Best wishes!

Yes, actually. When I bought Skyrim on DVD, it would NOT install directly - it *always* downloaded from Steam. In playing many games (Bioshock: Infinite being the most recent) it logs into Steam prior to launch no matter what I do. Again, I bought retail rather than via Steam. I haven't tested trying to run either in a disconnected state, so I don't know if the login failing would cause either not to launch, but even just automatically logging in bugs me.

I'm a non-anonymous Southerner, and I can agree that while it's probably not quite as bad as people elsewhere believe it is, we've still not quite escaped our past. Things are getting better generally (look back at the 1960s and 1970s and you will see that is factual), but yes, things like this at the very least give the appearance of a socially backwards society. A friend of mine from NYC once told me, "I thought I had seen racism. Then I came to college here."

If you abhor racism, the very fact that it is stronger here than in many places is a reason to STAY - I can be an active voice against it.
