How about stop eating chickens? I doubt many here would kill a live chicken for fun, yet they'll happily choose to eat a chicken sandwich simply because they think it tastes better than the alternative. It certainly can't be for health reasons. This story and Tyson are fucking sick.
Hey, at least he's not trying to sell anything. This is a step up from the usual slashvertisement/slashnouncement 'stories'. Anyway, I thought building on top of other people's work was still a good thing around here.
device primarily useful for the purpose of the surreptitious interception of oral communications
They would put an end to recording devices in public just to win one stupid case against a kid on a bike. And what about that redneck cop that bursts out with a gun and no identification? I hope he gets canned? No mention.
LSD does not belong in your list as an alternate addiction. It's not. However if you're actually taking a manly dosage, computer screens are rendered absolutely unusable, so I guess it could be somewhat of a valid argument in that sense.
I don't think considering yourself a slave in that way is really the problem. The slippery slope is if this was totally legal and organ harvesting becomes a business. I would much rather be a slave than a temporary organ host for useless old wealthy people.
This is why I don't even bother with games like Halo or any other console fps anymore. I don't mind using a controller, but I just can't enjoy myself knowing that some of my opponents may be using a mouse/keyboard. It's just too big of an advantage. It's like getting onto a counter-strike server back in the beta days and some people there would have aimbots and wallhacks (maybe they still do, I stopped playing around when it went retail).
Not couldn't afford... Did not want to include because then there wouldn't be a strong dependency on their Battle.net servers. They can't have you and your buddies throwing LAN parties with only one legitimate copy of the game like the old days.
It's not just Slashdot. This story was on CNN front a day or two ago:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/gaming.gadgets/07/06/light.saber.lucas/index.html
I could care less about Lucas' rights personally, all I get from an article like that is a great temptation to buy an awesome laser that looks like a lightsaber hilt! It's just like when they introduced us to drugs in health class and the PCP girl jumps out of the window. I know I wasn't the only one there that was thinking how much fun drugs must be...
This comment is cheap and overrated IMO. It's not for carrying fat people from the couch to the fridge. It's to help commuters get to their destinations faster. The same reason they take that train or bus instead of also walking those distances for the sake of physical fitness. Which is totally obvious and brings me back to my first point.
Trading should be treated like web pop-ups today. No trades unless initiated directly, and one-off, by a human being clicking their mouse, pressing enter, firing a gun, popping a balloon, whatever. Anything automated is bullshit and falls under the superman scam category.
Indeed, Ballmer needs to go. Him and anyone else that coat-tailed their way through the early years. Especially Ballmer though, the guy just looks retarded. That can't be good for business.
Is this saying nobody reviews new book purchases at these schools? I would have assumed at least one person from a school district department actually reads through and reviews the text. If that was the case they would notice any added craziness anyway and not order more. This kind of legislation would be a complete waste of time then. How naive I am?

Yeah, but at least the 'authorities' were the ones getting rebuffed in the end. I think it was worth it for that, even if it wasn't the intention.

Thanks, now I'm sea sick.

If this was Apple, they would only enable Move and 3D on the new PS3S!
When I was kid, I remember playing with a stick and imagined it was a sword and a gun
and a lightsabre
You'll be hearing from Square's and Lucas' lawyers about this alleged childhood of yours...

It's a plug-in, just don't enable it...
Maybe that's the answer. Move the trading floor from Wallstreet to the ISS.
Is this is a trap?
Actually it's on half a dozen sources like the BBC, guardian and time articles that are all clearly cited and linked.
Yeah really, what happened there? Slashcode needs editor moderation and an editor threshold to filter out this crap...
While funny, you'd likely use the same horse, maybe upgrading once or twice, throughout the entire game.
How does some religious group have the right to dig somebody up like that?
Another technological breakthrough the world can give thanks for. Apple has done it again, wow.
