    Sitting on a couch - of course not. It's like if you have a truck and a Prius parked in a garage, they'll not burn any gas. If you drive them the same distance, the truck will burn more. If a muscular person and a skinny person walk a mile, the muscular one will burn more calories. No citation needed - it's common sense.

    I went to school with a guy who was also CS. We both graduated with our CS degrees. He's driving trucks and was making more than I was just out of school. I also know a guy who got his degree in education, didn't want to teach, and is now a highway patrolman. You could go military.

    There are LOTS of things you can do. As long as you are happy, who cares what the trolls say?
