folks dont seem to understand that halo has one of the best storylines ever written for a game. everyone keeps saying you dont have much luck turning a game into a movie - but that is not the case here. halo has a very well written story behind it. the only comment i can agree with is that the game has so much story and movie cut-scenes included in it, this movie might actually be redundant. however, i'm sure a movie will have a lot more to offer than just cut-scenes and i think this is a sure fire deal and they would be foolish to stop production. im surprised that more /. readers don't already know this - halo IS, of course, a geek thing almost as much as WoW or any other geek game. is it the microsoft affiliation that turned you all off?

he may have been promoting his own crap hd network but he still has a good point. YouTube will never make it as a for-profit company. for the guy who said the all time record is 33 million hits - you are right, they weren't unique - and in addition i guarantee it was for a movie that was copyrighted material.. YouTube is only good for stuff thats copyrighted - the rest of the crap on there is some jackass in a pink tutu singing along to retarded techno german music he filmed with his webcam. once the powers that be crackdown on the copyrighted material there will be nothing of value left on YouTube. the whole 'take down the stuff when they are notified' is also a load of crap, that won't last very long - that is, if their revenue stream ever picks up. you've gotta follow the money - and at the moment, there is none to follow.. thus no one has sued yet cause no one is benefitting from this crap. once someone starts to benefit from this stuff, there will be lawsuits left and right.

  17. Re:Same Model As Netflix... Almost on Myspace to Sell MP3s From Unsigned Bands · · Score: 1
The real key? Once on Netflix, they get pushed as a new release over the recommendation mechanism. So, heard of or not, they get exposure and an audience quickly. MySpace has nothing like that to push unsigned bands, except to offer a sales/download link from all pages using the song.
seems to me that myspace DOES have something useful, in that these bands get exposure from every myspace user who adds their song on their myspace page. The sale mechanism that will, presumably, be linked into this song is an amazing way to push underground bands. in addition, they DO have a featured band that rotates regularly on the homepage. i think this is a great idea for myspace, with all the bands that are already registered there it makes perfect sense. they have an edge up on itunes in that they have a user community that is already in tact and already using their site to chat with friends and find new bands. its a perfect amalgamation

if anyone is at fault here, it's the people who are reading this spam, interpreting it as fact and purchasing these stocks.

Test subjects were injected with parts of the virus that don't cause infection so as to NOT INFECT THEM!!! with the virus. Instead, they were given non-infectuous parts of it so that the body would be able to recognize the virus if it were to come into contact with the system later. This is the whole point of vaccines.

I am willing to bet these patients would be somewhat unhappy if they were given the infectuous portions of the disease.

too bad most musicians already max out the number of concerts they can put on (think transportation time between shows). add in the price that venues have to pay to rent/power/book the gigs and you begin to understand why tickets cost what they do. i'm not saying they don't make a generous profit from $60 dollar dave matthews tickets. there are just too many players involved in setting up concerts and they all want their share of the profit. that's why we should all listen to death metal, it's much more affordable.
