They're not an arts college, they're a LIBERAL arts college. That has more to do with size than anything else, and the philosophy of a well rounded education. But, they're not a FINE art, or DIGITAL art college, so your point is moot.
I have verizon, I've never been anything but happy with their service. In my area I tend to get better service than cingular does. I'm not too sure about sprint. At this point unless you're in the middle of nowhere whatever plan out of sprint, verizon, and cingular meets your personal needs the best is probably the best option. Coverage in most areas is probably going to be rather consistent. If you're in a rural area, though, there's going to be a difference. I visited Nebraska last year (don't ask my why... there's nothing to see there) and I was roaming the whole time.
Due to a bizarre set of circumstances, a friend of mine ended up with four rats and was told they were all male by a biology teacher, so she kept them in the same cage. Either there was an error by the teacher, or some kind of jurassic park thing, because there were very soon 27 rats. Within a year they had all died of cancer. So, I'm of the impression not that things cause cancer in rats, but that all rats die of cancer.
Well, I don't know how good Vista's repair is, but I know I usually reformat my computer once a year or so. That would make things extremely irritating. I don't see what real purpose this serves though. Will it stop people with pirated versions from updating? That I could understand, but still, wouldn't using a pirated liscense key from XP do the same thing then? This decision just doesn't make sense to me.
That description of combat sounds very interesting. I would really enjoy more interactive combat in combination with more manipulation of environments... but I'm going to take this hype with a grain or two of salt for now.
I actually found the music in firefly to be anything but corny. There are so many elements of so many different musics, and combined in a very creative and original way.
The music really helps to intensify the culture infusion forced on this society. It also blends the old west sound, asian sound, and typical "western music" sound extremely well. There's also a lot of emotion expressed in the music. The Ballad Of Jayne and the show's theme are both, in my opinion prime examples of this.
The instrument combinations are extremely unique, which helps to represent that people were just kind of thrown out into the rim and whatever instruments were around was what they used - atypical sounding or not.
In the several times i've watched the seasons of the show, I've always taken particular note of the music adding greatly to the weight of a scene. So, I respect your right to criticize it, but as an avid musician and music consumer, I have to respectfully disagree with your statement.
The original poster raises some good points. However, a close friend of mine recently wrote a rather extensive paper on this subject. He detirmined through research (I didn't write the paper, so I couldn't tell you what his sources were) that when people vote because they feel they have to, it skews the election because people in this demographic tend to vote for candidates based on reasons other than the issues. Personal appearance, or just the sound of a name play an important role here.
He also detirmined that overall, it's better if you don't feel strongly about the election that you don't vote. The analogy he used when explaining it to me was this:
Let's say that an office is throwing a party, and the host wants to know if he should serve peanuts or potato chips, so he sends around a survey giving the people attending the option to check either peanuts or potato chips. Let's also say that 50 people are going to the party, 40 don't really care whether peanuts or chips are served, 3 strongly favor chips, and 7 people are allergic to peanuts.
With the survey passed around all 50 people are forced to make a choice between peanuts and chips. While 40 of them don't actually have a preference, by forcing them to choose, it is possible that peanuts will win the vote, leaving the 7 people with a peanut allergy very unhappy.
However, if only those who cared strongly about the issue voted, chips would definitely win, the 40 people who didn't have a preference wouldn't be displeased, and only the 3 people would be unsatisfied. By limiting the voting population to those who strongly cared about the issue, more people overall were happy.
So, don't just vote because you feel you have to, vote because you care about the issues you're voting for. When you vote because you feel it is your duty, you skew the data, and it is possible that overall fewer people will be happy with the result.
But really... who could have more spare time than a bunch of nerds? Come on! The person I heard about serenity from very rarely gets off the couch in his mother's basement, and when he does it's to play risk.
Yes, more specifically they're probably a cartel "A cartel is a group of formally independent producers whose goal it is to fix prices, to limit supply and to limit competition."
Agreed. According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riaa/ -
"The Recording Industry Association of America (or RIAA) is the trade group that represents the recording industry in the United States. Its members consist of a large number of private corporate entities such as record labels and distributors, who create and distribute about 90% of recorded music sold in the US."
So, from that I would say that since the RIAA is not an individual company it cannot be a monopoly. Do they qualify as a cartel? Possibly.
I disagree. All of the people that I know who download music (which is a lot on my college campus) do not own ANY of the music they're downloading. however, I think we all can agree that the RIAA and MPAA are out of line in what they're doing. I don't think that a lawsuit against them would be very succesful, but I could be wrong... I was wrong once.
It sounds like they're in a seperate tank that is being filled with water from the reservoir prior to purification, since the chlorine and other chemicals used to purify the water would kill the fish pretty quickly. so,
1) It doesn't sound like they're physically in the water source
and
2) Even if they were, there's naturally going to be fish in a reservoir anyway, and any of their feces are going to be taken care of during the purification process.
So, don't worry about fish poop in your ice water.

And aparently i've gotten so used to reading slashdot that not only do i not read the article, i don't even read the summary. :-P

6.
7. Profit
That's a very good statement. Moreover, the artists barely get any royalties as it is, the RIAA needs to stop being greedy!
You sure you weren't at http://www.wikiality.com/?
Well, this makes things much easier for me. If it hadn't been the word of the year, my gut would have told me it was anyway.
I'd say one or two iron golem's should do the trick. Just don't leave any adamantine swords lying around.

As Indiana Jones would say, "That belongs in a museum!"
But the original poster very clearly indicted that he/she is a mac user
To the MPAA: Every time you put in one of those pointless antipiracy warning on a dvd, God kills a libertarian. Please, think of the libertarians.

I am dumbfounded at their stupidity... wow.
