Does anyone here have the contact information for the lawyer etc conducting this suit for all those Canadians getting bilked?

I know this is probably a troll, but you have to be kidding. I would NEVER buy a car that made me pass a breathalizer before I drove it. It is a pain in the ass, it is another point of failure, and is just plain idiotic on someone's car where that person has no history of drunk driving.
What if it breaks? What if you just rinsed with mouthwash? What if you're in a fucking hurry(maybe you're even beeing chased?)?
Ditto goes for a car that doesn't start if you don't have your seatbelt on. What if the switch/sensor corrodes?(spilled drinks in car, etc) What if you are on private property and simply don't want to wear it?
Anyways, I donlt think he was even really condemning piracy. He was just saying he is sick of the fact that people who just pirate the game get a better more playable product than he does, the faithful customer.
I personally don't give a shit what the developers 'want' when they sell me a game. As far as I'm concerned, if something pisses me off about it, and there is a way to fix it, I am going to use that way. Regardless of what the EULA says.
No matter what the point is, this does nothing besides delay the pirates a few days, and pisses off normal customers forever.
I agree, the iPod is a much more commercially acceptable device.
It wins in the UI and form factor areas, but that is it. Other than these two, the Archos is better in every way. Only the PDF reading is a crappily implemented feature. The rest work very well.
Basically, If you can deal with not having a wheel to navigate your menus, you get MUCH more functionality. It is not a trade off you are willing to make obviously, but having a worse UI and being better in every other respect doesn't exactly make it a worse machine in my book.
Cons Compared to iPod: -No wheel(so interface is worse than iPod IMO) -Bulkier than iPods. -Touch screen not multi touch. -This one really sucks but: You have to use Archos's USB cables because the connector on the device is proprietary.
Pros compared to iPod: -Higher res than any iPod(800x480 vs 480x320), bigger screen than any iPod(4.3" vs iPod touch 3.5 inch). -Flash version comes with a SD slot. -Can be used as DVR (with TV listings and everything). -Comes in a 4gb flash (with SD for expansion as mentioned) up to a 160gb hard drive version, all in the same form factor w/ same accessories. -BIG BIG PRO: Plays way more formats than iPod..most importantly all the pirated/captured Xvid files you download right off the internet, rather than having to re-encode everything like iPod. Also plays FLAC/OGG(vorbis) and just about anything else you could desire. -Reads PDF's (shittily unfortunately). -A bit more video playtime battery life (but less audio, so a dubious con for sure). -Very responsive developer team who will fix bugs and sometimes even implement features upon request and quickly. -Web browser is opera which is pretty sweet. -Drag and drop interface which is far far simpler and superior than having to 'sync' with a specific program(but it will also sync with any WMP style program should you want to, blech) -Because of the above, works on ANY OS supporting mass storage (usb keys, etc) -This is a pro and a con in a way: There are actually buttons, so your screen doesn't turn into a smudgy mess if you don't want to use the touchscreen.
Same as iPod: -Browses the web (wifi and all that goodness). This includes flash sites like Youtube. -Has touchscreen (but not multitouch)
There are some more cons no doubt, but I think the archos device is, on the whole, a much better machine.
If someone could make a device as nice as the archos, but with the multitouch/wheel interface (without getting sued) and form factor of the iPod, you would pretty much have the ultimate PMP.
Does anyone have a good technique about wear leveling at the lower levels? While I'm sure the engineers at Seagate can solve the problem fine, the examples given here of why wear leveling will work --"transferring 2x the capacity of the drive daily gives you 200 years!"-- is a total bullshit argument. That is assuming filling and emptying the entire drive so all sectors get written to. Don't even need wear leveling then.
Also, at the hardware level, how can the wear leveling controller know if the space is free or not. In a file system the entry is just removed from the FAT. So as far as the drive can tell, this data hasn't been 'erased' and cannot be used for wear leveling ?
Again I'm sure Seagate knows what it is doing, but does anyone have any white papers on the lower levels of how this stuff works? I'm an EE so it wont go over my head:)
the IMDB numerical rating is what i trust the most for a quick glance to see whether the movie is good or not.
a 5.x is nearly always horrible, and 8.x-9.x is nearly always good or great. I dont look at written reviews or anything like that, just the IMDB score to see if I should download it, and then watch to form my own opinions.
Just odd how reliable it has been for me. MUCH MUCH more than any 'repected' critic giving thumbs up or down.
Just one small correction about Canadian broadband..
Are you saying most broadband is 1/2 megaBIT per second? Because if so this is vastly wrong..it is 40-50$/mo Canadian for a 10 down 2 up pipe from the main cable company here in western Canada (shaw) There are usually also other local alternatives offering similar speeds. (we could go cable (shaw) phone-dsl(Telus) other local (Ispeed, Terago, etc...usually fixed WISPs))
Even if you mean 1/2 megabyte, it is over a full megabyte for that $40/mo fee. And this is pretty much everywhere. Even cheaper if you bundle services of course (their VOIP etc)
For $99 they offer a 25mbit connection as well. Not the sweet 100mbit unmetered that some European countries have, but it something. All prices in Canadian dollars. No affiliation with any of the companies just setting straight on the state of Canadian broadband:D
(Adobe Reader is her latest pet-hate, and understandably so) Actually, adobe reader comes with a lot of cruft you can do without. Just hold shift while starting it and it will start MUCH faster and take less resources.
Alternately there are a few programs out there you can google for that will remove the cruft permanently:)
Seen the Dvdisaster project? It uses some of the space (15 percent by default) as parity data at the image level to make a disc a lot more secure from scratching or other forms of what would otherwise cause data loss. Hell set it to 50 percent and you can pretty much guarantee the disc will be recoverable however badly you scratch it.
would a voip webapp be feasible? then the iphone would be pretty cool even whitout gsm functionality It would be very nice, but as of now the safari in the iPhone does not support java or flash so it seems unlikely it would be possible to make a voip app using it. Heres to hoping though!
Hm I hear what you're saying. I guess I just don't feel a vocal conversation (eyes always on the road) impacts my ability to predict traffic, but maybe it will take an accident to change that:) We'll see!
You know I agree with that AC there. His tone was a bit inflammatory but I think he is right.
You really should have the ability to drive and speak hands free at the same time with NO detriment to your driving ability. If a situation happens on the road that needs more conentratoin than you have to spare because of the phone conversaiton, just tune whoever you are talking to right out. In the few seconds after the 'situation' just tell him 'sorry I was concentrating on driving, could you please repeat that?'
If it is looking away from the road to dial etc yes this is a bad idea, but just speaking to a handsfree or a passenger should not affect your driving ability at all.
Driving should really be a relaxing experiance as the AC said. He is totally right, just put some music on, and dont worry about going crazy to get where you're going. Keep attention on the road but it really doesnt need that much effort. I guess maybe I'm just one of those 'lucky' people who has never been in an accident in many years of driving.
Anyone who enjoys Alice-in-Wonderland type stories, the book Neverwhere by Gaiman is probably one of my favorite books ever.
Does an excellent job of telling a Wonderland type story where the protagonist is thrown into a totally different world, fairly close to this one. It is certainly my favorite work by Gaiman (much more so than American Gods, which seemed to be more 'critically acclaimed')
Again, these ads are NOT for the google search engine. They are for people buying google adwords/advertisment.
Just curious what made you think any of this is going on googles search page. This wont change google interface a bit.
These are the ads they sell for other people's pages. Many pages already have flash ads, at least these will be context sensitive flash ads.
Ugh responding to an AC, but I believe he was talking about the American's deficit, not the Canadians (a surplus as you say).
Does anyone here have the contact information for the lawyer etc conducting this suit for all those Canadians getting bilked?

You didnt list any negatives about the theme or otherwise.
It really does seem like a glowing review of a game you'd much like to purchase.

He is talking about Firefox :P
This seems to be exactly what all the new fangled vista "live" apps do. No file menu etc until you hit alt. Try it with live messenger.
(Disclaimer: I run ubuntu and have only seen it in vista a few times while messing around, could be wrong)
Alternately there are a few programs out there you can google for that will remove the cruft permanently

So download FLAC's. Or Apple has lossless ripping.
The codecs exist and are widely supported, so if there was much of a market, the scene would be there in force.
This is somewhat true, but given a single user and a fairly noise free environement you can obtain like 75% of these speeds.
You must also remember too 802.11 is a half duplex protocol, so this further reduces practical (real world) speeds.
Aren't babies gestate in zero G shown to be severely deformed?
If so this may be the main reason for the objections.
Thanks, havent read. I'll have to check it out.
I agree with the above post. He isn't special at all, other than that he was a 'good person' and stopped to help Door.
Other than that point, to each their own opinion.
Neverwhere was one of the few books I've read that I reread with only 1 book in between (Usually I wait at least a couple months)
Definitely one of my favourites of all time (Think that honour goes to Dune.)
Anyone who enjoys Alice-in-Wonderland type stories, the book Neverwhere by Gaiman is probably one of my favorite books ever.
