MP3 is a loathable format created by communists in order to disrupt economics. Those evil terrorists usually approach innocent kids with crap speak like "information wants to be free".
DON'T FALL INTO THIS TRAP. Chances are if you ever try one MP3, you'll become addicted and need more and more. Countless downloads, and sleepless nights are to come. Not to talk on spending loads of cash for new HD's, and faster broadband. Even worse, you may fall to the perils of file sharing, in wich a bad hacker will download and destroy all your files.
It's often said that MP3s are a gateway file. Once MP3s are not enough, people usually want stronger files, like.AVI,.MPEG.
The problem is that some people are simply too stupid or become too addicted to something to have common sense.
These laws are intended to help them. For instance, in many countries there are laws requiring the use of safety belts in a car. Without these laws, many lifes would be lost. Yes, it's something everyone should do, without the need of any law. But some just do it because it's required.
Laws should help the society as a whole.
Of course we know that overprotective laws are awfully bad.
The fact is that it'll work It's a good move for Bush. Specially if this mission finds Martians. Specially if these Martians have WMDs. Specially if we declare war against Mars. Specially if we conquer Mars, exploiting its natural resources, therefore boosting Earth's economy, allowing a tax cut.
If they intended to sell more cars, it didn't work for me. I swear I didn't buy any car since I ran GTA. However, I just drive the fanciest Jaguars, Mercedes and Ferraris.
Out of curiosity, how did you find this ? Did you (tcpdump|tcpflow) his traffic ?
Is there any restriction on what and when an ISP can monitor on the user's traffic ? If he was passing credit cards and passwords in plaintext (for instance, using IM software), would you capture it also ? Yeah, it's not wise to transmit this kind of data in plaintext, but anyway.
I just came home from work to find a letter waiting in the old snail mail box from SCO. It has very nice titling on it: 'Notice of Unacceptable Linuz Use' and also has an 'Abuse Ticket Number' associated with it.
"'Oh, no!' I think to myself, 'They think I'm Linus Torvalds!!!' But further reading sheds more light on the subject:
According to our usage records, during December 2003 your linux account exceeded the right usage limitation, that is zero. This illegal Linux activity was more than 100 times the recommended by Microsoft. This level of activity violates SCO Copyright, and you may qualify as a terrorist in the FBI's database, according to the Patriot Act III, wich terms are confidential and undisclosed to the public.
> It takes half a second to scan the headline and realize that its a repeat
Did you notice this is the same kind of logic some spammers use when they try to convince others that spamming is harmless ? Something along the line of "It just takes a second to read, and if you don't like, just ignore it.".
It may be faster, it may be smoother, but I bet it still won't be able to handle the full power of the terrible hordes of slashdotters.
"Honey, did you fuck the secretary today?"
He probably was a pointy-haired boss.
Obviously they don't want terrorists to hijack a plane and crash it on Mars.
> What's an mp3 anyway?
.AVI, .MPEG.

Carrier lost. Download aborted.

This way, Lord Bush will still be ruling by 2050.
DMCA ?
Oh, crap. I can kiss goodbye my copy of "The Greatest Hits from Mars Rovers - Live from Mars". This will certainly be copy-protected.
Nope, but I already heard of someone who had a good time making others sniffing pepper.
True. But, according to the article, thou shall not snort illegal stuff, for you are what you sniff.

As I said in a post earlier today, this power accumulation and surveilance reminds me of Senator Palpatine.
A population fearing an enemy (be it terrorists, clones, or whatever) is the best way to gain more powers.
Somehow, this power accumulation and surveilance reminds me of Senator Palpatine. I just hope I'm wrong.
I didn't migrate to 2.6 yet because patch-o-matic-ng hasn't been released yet, and this is going to be a patch-o-matic that works both on 2.4 and 2.6.
What about mp3 players that are not priced as a bargain, but also carries pa rice - more exactly $99 for a new battery ?
Excuse me sir, but are you a moderator ?
Better yet, a Penguinator.
I never said that dupes were as bad as spam. But that the reasoning used was similar to the one of spammers.
Anyway, it's annoying.

>Why do some of you hijack mention of SCO in your pathetic attempts to MOD UP on FUNNY POINTS?
Nice you brought this subject. I just hope SCO does not claim property of VoIP.
Simply put, he's a geek, and you're not. You don't belong to Slashdot. Get out.
