Port-a-potty companies and septic companies use vacuum trucks to remove waste from portable toilets or underground storage tanks. They then truck it to a sewage treatment plant where there are unloading bays with a grate on the floor or a hose to hook to an unloading pipe. So in essence, a port-a-potty is a toilet who's plumbing is truck based instead of pipe based. The sludge is treated at the same sewage plants that serve the local population. Nothing is dried or shipped by them.

Its the sewage treatment plant that sometimes dries the solids that separates in the sludge tanks. It is used as fertilizer.

That problem bit my friend in the ass when he bought his Westinghouse 47" a few years ago. He wanted a simple setup and figured the TV would act as an HDMI switch for his PC, Xbox and cable box (It has 4 HDMI inputs). Then he could continue using his older dolby 5.1 receiver by hooking it up to the TV's digital audio output. He thought something was broken because he couldn't get any sound from the digital output when using HDMI but analog worked. He emailed Westinghouse who informed him that due to copyright regulations/agreements, digital audio is not enabled when using HDMI. Some journalist discovers plans for gun parts on Thingiverse. They proceed to write a sensationalist piece on how [insert person who wants to kill people here] can download and print guns in their own homes and kill people using them. Stupid people read/hear/watch said story and panic thinking there is now an unlimited source of untraceable guns available. Of course they wont mention that these are only lower receivers and other parts that cant make a complete weapon. But it will be spun so the general public will think that any nerdy introverted kid with a 3D printer and computer can print a gun and shoot their school up. Thingiverse, along with the 3D printing and maker community get a black eye for enabling crazies and criminals to arm themselves without anyone ever knowing.

And to add to the gun argument:
Whats done is done. Adding bans to guns isn't going to work in the short run. Neither is relaxing current regulations going to arm citizens turning the population into a self policing militia. A ban only means that the sale of guns becomes a black market complete with criminal trafficking. Now the ban on guns becomes a new war on drugs where authorities are constantly trying to stem an influx of smuggled guns. And legal gun owners become targets for thieves wanting to steal guns for profit. What about previously legal gun owners do they surrender their guns to authorities to be destroyed? How many would be unscrupulous and recoup their cost by selling their guns on the black market? At this point we need better gun education. Even though the kid who shot the school up was unstable, his mother should have known better. Either she should have never kept the guns at home or avoided buying them altogether.

The school shooting was one of many but they are still isolated incidents. It sad hearing that those kids were shot to death but life is full of tragedy and children die tragically every day. At work I take breaks and do a little research, could be anything electronics, computer, mechanical related and get a great idea to build something. Then I get home and I just want to plop my ass in front of the TV until bed time.

The last little project I was working on was a three phase DC-AC inverter that used an analog control section which generated a 60Hz sine wave from a square wave-triangle oscillator which then fed through a phase shift network which fed three comparator sections (PWM) each controlling a half bridge of MOSFET's and finally a filter section. I did the research, laid out diagrams and schematics. When it came time to actually build the damn thing? I got as far as the sine wave oscillator section before I became bored and gave up. I tried to get myself motivated again by switching from a somewhat complex analog front end (fun to design but time consuming) to a micro-controller based system that would generate the PWM signals through software which would be far easier. Again I got to the point where I had a some half decent PWM code running and began working on the MOSFET half bridge when I lost interest and gave up.

I get a burst of energy to do the mental portion, the research, math and diagrams. But fall flat when it comes to the hands on part. Or I hit an obstacle which isn't hard to solve but none the less an obstacle that pisses me off and I just give up. Its frustrating to know you can build cool shit, solve problems and fix stuff but you cant keep your mind focused on the task or project at hand. I do electronic, industrial control, software and IT at work. But thankfully I have just enough motivation and discipline to get the projects completed in a timely manner. Then again I take breaks throughout the day. I am posting this on one of my own mental breaks as we speak. Then its back to work.

I find that some hands on projects work out better for me such as doing some electrical work around the house, working on my car (I save so much money doing my own work). Those are often simple and dont require a lot of mental gymnastics to complete.

You don't know what your talking about. I would imagine the accident rate in Denmark dropped due to better understanding of both bus/truck drivers watching for cyclists during an approach to a right turn and cyclists understand that you don't pass a vehicle with a turn signal on. Local drivers will also be more accustomed to high cyclist traffic.

For those of us who have driven large trucks, the right side (for left hand drive countries) is a blind spot. Here in the USA it is somewhat customary to have "pass" written on the left side and "don't pass" written on the right side of the truck or trailer (or a playful take such as "el passo" and "el smasho"). There is a damn good reason for that. When a semi truck or truck with a large trailer makes a right turn, the right mirror now allows you a nice view of the trailer, not the road, people or vehicles. Even for strait trucks which have no trailer, the right side is still a bit of a blind spot. If a truck is in the process of turning right or has their turn signal on DON'T pass on the right. The same goes for right hand drive countries, don't pass on the left. If some shit head decides to pass on the right when a truck is turning right then it is their fault, the truck driver CAN NOT SEE THEM. Plenty of fatal truck accidents involve right turns when they have poor visibility.

Riding a bike is the same as driving a car. Both have to obey the same traffic rules, signs and signals. And many cyclists forget that, think they are an exception or have a holier-than-thou attitude because they ride a bike everywhere. If a vehicle ahead of a cyclist has its turn signal on, the cyclist must yield and allow the vehicle to turn, its the law. I have often seen many cyclists take deadly risks and attempt to pass vehicles turning when they clearly had their turn signal on. I once had a cyclist collide with my van during a right turn and the ass hole had the audacity to start cursing me out. I simply said "You ignored my turn signal and attempted to pass me as I slowed down to turn. What the fuck did you expect?" If you are driving a car and someone has their right turn signal on, would you pass them on the right? Of course you wouldn't.

Technically for PAL, the broadcast rate is 50Hz BUT that does not mean there are 50 complete frames every second. In order to conserve bandwidth for radio (radio meaning RF) broadcast, the picture is split into odd and even frames. This is called interlacing and when displayed on a CRT, the persistence of the phosphor coating makes it appear as one frame. So the actual frame rate is 25 but the frames are chopped up and broadcast in two parts. Back in the day before good video codecs, capture cards and acceleration, digitized, interlaced video sometimes looks jagged when played back on a computer. The computer CRT is progressively scanned and not interlaced, usually at 50+ Hz (upward of 85Hz on old CRT's).

For NTSC its the same thing. 30 frames per second is the actual video frame rate while the interlaced rate is 60Hz.

A little info on interlaced analog video:
The analog composite video signal from a game console or dvd player along with S-video and component are interlaced. The composite analog video signal is basically the same signal format broadcast over the air but not modulated over an RF carrier (along with audio). There are two parts to a video signal, the luma or luminance (intensity) and chroma (color) channels. The luma channel is the actual picture data which defines the display rate and syncing signals along with the brightness of each pixel. Before color TV, the luma channel was the actual picture, they added the chroma channel on top of it to enable color TV. To enable higher resolutions for s-video and component, they split the signals up. The chroma channel has its own wire in s-video or in the case of component, two wires allowing for more bandwidth. RGB video from a VGA port is not at all related to analog TV video, it is progressively scanned drawing the frame in one pass. RGB instead splits the picture into a high bandwidth red, green and blue picture. The vertical and horizontal scanning rates are also two separate signals. So you have five completely separate signals for PC RGB. Though, some RGB systems have the sync signals combined on one wire.
