Oh wow! Just what I needed, yet another CMS built in PHP that requires MySQL as the database backend.
If I really wanted to be pained by that, I'd use concrete5.
In reality, I'd choose Radiant, typo or refinery LONG before I'd choose anything PHP developed.
It really all depends on the particulars of the application, but in many cases they are totally correct that putting the logic in the application can be much more scalable. Often these are not all or nothing type arguments. It may be that you need a mix of traditional SQL for some stuff with business rules and all that jazz, another SQL setup for hosting certain types of dynamic data and then a NoSQL setup for the unstructured data. There is no one solution for all troubles, that's just the way it is.
AC is 100% correct provided we're dealing with a local Access database and not Access fronting a SQL Server - in the latter case, all of the queries and what not take place on the SQL Server and not on the client.
The latter case is not uncommon with Internal Applications that started off as an Access application and were later converted to run on SQL Server.

Actually a number of the older embedded platforms I've programmed for DID in fact use gcc+patches, usually with proprietary stuff added all around. I believe for most of the microcontrollers supported by Keil, the compiler is based on GCC (often the older 2.x series.)
While the GPLv3 was the reason Apple suddenly invested in clang (which just happens to ride on llvm), it has little effect on any companies that do what they should do.
It has been my experience that they don't believe that people have real names like Hunter, Yearly, color name, Happy, and lots of other common English words. - if there's a question, they should ask for proof and give you x amount of time before they just disable the account.
Actually, I love it. In my opinion, it's the best and funniest thing on slashdot these days (kinda sad I know). I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that gets completely nutso, hilarious emails.
See, my random opinion completely cancels out your random opinion. Isn't it awesome how that works?
Plus, my UID is a good bit lower, so my opinion is inherently more valuable. Checkmate.
Meh, I checkmate your checkmate and this was my 2nd Slashdot account!
He actually said 92", but 60" displays are very common and there are some larger flat panel TVs and RPTVs, but at 92" most likely he's referring to a projector onto a screen, where 92" is if anything, small. My 1080p projector is projecting onto 120" screen. To be honest not all HD material is created equally.
I can say in the corporate world the "ease" of installing software is a complete and total mess. There so many applications that refuse to work without the user having like 15000 user rights, namely the ability to install software (strange that you need this right AFTER the application is installed)
Plus you had programmers at Ion Storm making all kinds of comments about how bad the id Engine was and how there were all these math errors and what not... then Daikatana comes out and it's just nothing special. That's why game developers only need to start hyping when they are close enough that they KNOW their game is rockin'.
I'm in it for the microfiber tee and the umbros... with sandals. I pretty much go to consulting meetings dressed this way and noone cares... Why you ask? Because I am a programmer...
Look at BellSouth's profits... just look at the earning paid on a (as of right now) $26.11 share, it was $2.19... That's a pretty big profit margin.
Now SBC that's a diff story $1.41 on $24.12, Verizon paid $3.09 on $32.01, and Qwest actually lost.45 on $3.91 share (I won't even go into how much AT&T lost last year)
This is 100% true. I don't think I've ever seen a Judge say something like this one did. Seem 100% guarantee of a new trial upon apeal.

The US - still the best place to live and the whole "debt" issue is really not a huge deal.

Are thinking of Matthew Boulton or perhaps misspelling Michael Bolton?
I'm not sure where you've been but XP SP2 didn't change much with regards to viruses and whatnot.

We are trying to find the movie, but we know it was a group from Argent Dawn.
There's a video of 4 Paladins taking down Ony by themselves. There was also a similar 6person druid effort.
Pretty sure most start their fiscal year eithre September or January.
My guy at EB told me a little story ...
... cause they didn't sell well enough in the first place.
The reason they aren't getting that many copies of each 360 game
I do it so I can carry about 20 games on one catridge, and NOT because I steal them. I have all 20 game catridges.
Umm you mean the shortcut, Steve Jobs owned and started? Oh yeah that NeXT.
Or Linux, OS X x86, OS/2, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, HURD, FireflyBSD, or umm like 200000 other free OSs. (oh let's not forget BeOS)
There's another person who the OSS community loves to talk about, but have you ever used Yahoo! Stores? (even before it was totally changed)
