  1. Intelligent Drivers on Hybrid Cars No Better than 'Intelligent' Cars · · Score: 4, Insightful

What we really need are intelligent drivers. You know, the ones that don't drive 20 over the speed limit, don't tailgate, keep their cars in tune and the tires properly filled.

    Or even an 'Astronaut'.

We've definitely gone from the days when our astronauts were national heroes, and space flights were major news items, to relatively anonymous folks risking their lives to put the next communications satellite in orbit for our corporate masters. Honestly, does anyone here know the name of a current astronaut off the top of their head without doing a search? We need a mission to Mars or something similar sooner rather than later.

Is there anyone, anywhere who thinks Microsoft will ever do anything that's really free, and therefore portable, cross platform and all that other stuff they would like to say about .NET? The more they hype it, the more obvious the shortfall.

Of course not, because it's not in their best interests to open source .NET. MS would lose control over their product, which is exactly not what they want to do.

It's a good thing to see another country getting into space. Pretty soon we'll have Bollywood 24/7, but I hope that the Indian government can use their own satellites to help improve the lives of the average Indian citizen.

Well, that's great that you knew all about parenting before your child was born, and had nothing to learn. You certainly should start a class for all of those lazy and bad parents out there, since they clearly need the help. I've seen enough bad kids around that a 'moral parenting' class is desperately needed.

  10. Re:Violence is caused by bad parenting on Gamers Grapple With VA Tech Shooting · · Score: 1

One question: are you a parent yourself?

I am. And while I agree that bad (or rather, lazy) parenting is to blame for many bad things, I find it interesting that many people who blame bad parents are not only not parents themselves, but probably wouldn't know the first thing to do should a child fall into their lap. I'm not saying that you necessarily fit this mold, but my eyes certainly have been opened about the difficulties in raising a child since my daughter was born.

Absolutely. It seems to me that the rash of pedophiles is very similar to the rash of cases of 'satanic abuse' and 'daycare abuse'. I don't doubt that there are pedophiles out there, and I agree that they need to have, at the bare minimum, psychological help. However, the hysteria around this issue is nearly unbelieveable.
