70 miles? Even in GTA missions I wouldn't drive 70 miles to plant an axe in some poor schmuck's head. You've got to be a dedicated kind of killer to do that - a murderer with a yahoo chat room agenda. Ordinary murderers get bored/lose interest/get high before anything like 70 miles is behind them. Kudos to this guy. He has strengthened my faith in reality, and given us all a remarkable example of determination and endurance in the business of wacking the trolls.
Like others have said however, if you're a nut on the tubes, you're a nut anywhere.
Scientists build computer that can execute 20-line algorithm. Details at 11.
On serious note: if this computer is "much slower" than our existing silicon, then what is it that makes "DNA computers" more attractive, or have greater potential? From a Turing Machine point of view, speed is the only thing that matters.
What I'm saying is that we should not have to endure "pain and discomfort", because in a society that collectively believes something to be right there should be no reason for anybody to be branding us as wrong, except if we are being oppressed.
I am a rather natural musician, due to both my parents being musicians and raising me on Chopin and Mozart..etc. There is little that I like better than a good guitar session with my friends....BUT: I can't do this all the time. I want - and should be able - to listen to music that I have bought while I work for e.g. We cannot dictate how people should entertain themselves without the industry, because that means the IRAA has won.
Not listening to the products of the music industry is not the same as "consuming it in another way". We should not give in. "Voting" in this matter involves not boycotting music but effective lobbying to change the laws that supposedly reflect the beliefs of the population.
Apart from these ideological grounds, I honestly don't think anybody is going to do what you have suggested. Nice idea in theory, but it won't happen anytime soon.
I do not think OpenBSD had the current combination of memory armoring + canary word checking that renders stack-based overflows useless on Fedora. If it did, my apologies.
As for kernel level potection, I am not sure, but since you have to compile the module on FC5 I do not see why this is not true for kernel mode execution.
I agree with this being a good idea, but you are missing the point. Not everybody can do this, or is willing to, and even if that were the case the point at hand is quite different.
Nobody should be forced to boycott the music industry because that just means that we are reinforcing the authority the RIAA claim to have over our lives. DRM is not something I will succumb to, even if it means I have to download torrents instead of buying my music at the store. We are supposedly citizens that have a right to decide the laws which govern private industries in the "free" world. We should not have to hide in caves and abandon our entertainment for something unconstitutional.
Has anybody tried to to this on Fedora Core 5? They have basically annihilated buffer overflows due to their usage of things like IBM Pro-Police with everything compiled to run on FC5. I spent an entire semester studying work-arounds so we could obtain root level exploits, but almost all stack based methods are useless against that platform, and only some heap-based overflow methods are remotely possible.* Programs running on FC5 at the moment are very difficult to attack in this classical manner, and it is usually on these GUI-oriented distros (fedora, ubuntu..etc) that you find any need for 3D acceleration.
Note that heap overflows are rather rare. Note also that FC4 is perfectly vulnerable to all kinds of attack.
How about the personal "tastes" of the population of Ireland, which presumably are the reason for this in the first place? Respect for the generally accpeted mannerisms of a nation/people is a good thing, because "harm" is a lot more than the rather materialist notion you have in mind.
And like the good man said, if you don't like it then buy a friggin.com.
Dude, you can't blame the him. I don't mean to troll, but you guys aren't going to be knighted any time soon.
No matter how honest you think you are, you are still in the business of lonely housewives and anal penetration. When you've entered that territory, petty things like keeping your word, being virtuous, good manners..etc cease to be of much interest. Imagining one of guys trudging off to work in a suit after driving the kids to school is just plain hard. I'm trying to say you're never going to make it on Oprah, dude.
As for the argument about filthyness and honesty being entirely detached, and that large numbers of people are involved..etc - it's pointless. You guys are up there in the league with the prostitution industry and the drug trafficking industry, in terms of public opinion. You all give us plenty of entertainment, and there are many honest employees of both who will give us our money's worth, but you know what..they're not going to make it on Oprah either!
Besides, why are you worked up over these ultra-conservative, backwards-thinking people? They're so out of this century right? If I was producing videos of orgies the last thing I'd be losing sleep over is low public status. Just do what you can to get your money back from those horrible Zango people, and stop trying to convince us of your decency.
P.S: How long do you plan to be in this business? What does a career look like?
Software don't just celebrate 10 years of "existence"!
10 years of innovation, 10 years of creativity, 10 years of asskickery..but "existence"? Do you have nothing better to say? That's like telling your wife..oh, never mind.
You guys would fail in the jungle that is today's market.
Actually I don't believe the terrorists loiter very much, they've got so much to do, things to blow up.. However, it may be useful for forsenics if you can spot the people who were with the terrorists but left earlier..etc.
Still a failure due to problems with keeping the tags on the right people/in the right places. Better to put the tags on passoports than around people's necks in my humble opinion, but RFID = problems anyway.

As a simple example, women have a primal driver towards infidelity
That is not true, and offtopic. Men are historically known to have a greater tendency for polygamy, to the degree that it is socially accepted and sometimes part of religious doctrine. Infidelity on part of the wife is very rare if she is satisfied, and communities the world over tend to think a lot lower of the unfaithful wife, due to the pscychological nature of the female-male relationship and the role of dominance..etc.
AS for the more relevant part of your answer - the romance, the deep reflection and the intelligence of the computer scientist can be either tools for his destruction or stairways to marital heaven. If you're smart enough to make your spouse laugh and to know what she wants and to respect it, rather than being drawn into the sometimes more important areas of thought, then you will do fine. If you can't enjoy time with your wife then you have made an obvious error in choice, which is not exclusive to intelligent people alone.
but you are very unlucky, and very wrong. People in SW and HW engineering who decide to give up porn and settle down seriously are almost never on the brink of divorce. When you compare them to business people or, in contrast, very low-earning families that just had children, the divorce potential we have is far less.
People involved with comp.science are mathematicians, by extension philosophers. We value love, and often are more emotional than those who have drained themselves of it with endless nights drinking and partying and going after simple innate desire. The only danger we have is being isolated in cyberspace, but that is never a threat if you are truly intelligent.
If you've already lost your wife, don't lose your son. Don't let the monitor devour you. And try to change your thesis for the love of God.
Furthermore, PVC pipes are very good for bashing in the heads of moderators who use interesting rather than funny in a situation that is incontrovertibly funny.
And you are right of course. This is more difficult than text-based translation, and will definitely not work. Last thing we need is more misunderstanding between our troops and the people over there.
What I meant to say was at this stage disciplinary action against the kids (by their school..etc) is a lot more sensible, while when they are younger a far greater degree of responsibility and continuous supervision is needed by the parents.
Parents do not need to watch 12 year-olds as they do 5 year-olds. And it takes all of 10 minutes to make a profile on one of those sites.
This piece from your website is incredibly revealing. I knew the "Scientology" freaks were crazy, but this is a little too much. Their association with groups like the one in this story is alone quite a blow.
What is sillier and more idiotic than suing parents for not raising their children right, especially when these "kids" are guilty of using nothing more than a computer an an internet connection? Should we sue the parents of high-school kids involved in shootings? What about the parents of serial killers..surely they have to share part of the blame?
New rule: If your kids are old enough to know what a dyke is, and can put up an online profile of a straight woman convincing enough to say that she is one, then by golly they're not kids anymore!
Thanks - but after reading your explanation I am even more confused, and feeling a little..away from home. What the hell does a $100 laptop have to do with single girls or women's career advancement activism, and what is this cryptic link between "security" and "sex"?
Does timothy sell condoms? I don't know.. I'm just terribly confused now. I haven't been so clueless in years. Timothy has like, totally ruined my day:(
PS: Restriction of sex to marriage is a goody thing, inherent in many cultures. Check this out.

So how many millions of lawsuits is the EU prepared to file? Get serious. There is no way something like this can be imposed.

It's just that it all happens to be about diet, processing nutrients and building muscle.
Eat a balanced diet with lots of protein and work oout daily. That's a summary of information in a bouncer's brain.
Oh wait! I almost forgot: This is also a feature article in a bouncer's head:
"Girlzz r hot".
So it's ok to discriminate against fat-ass lards?

No. The defition of equality of A and B is that:
A is a subset of B
and
B is a subset of A
