Re:Yeah....
There is a user exhibiting developed software and the source code, too, for the purpose of giving harm to specific futaba-channel type bulletin board service but isn't it against a term of service of act GITHUB which exhibits such one?

Re:Japan just likes it 1.0
The normal 2channel isn't built for phones. But there is a version for keitai at http://c.2ch.net/. Having accessed c.2ch (and posted) from a FOMA handset, it's much less painless as it is posting on an English-language textboard (4ch) from a similarly-specced UK NEC handset. The input system takes a lot of getting used to, but is more consistent and much quicker to write with than the finger-killing hackjob that is T9. BTW, I'm somewhat surprised nobody has come out with "wwwwwww" and "orz" in these comments yet.

Re:2ch, not 2chan
That should have been http://2ch.net/, not 2-ch

Re:Idiot.
Yes, but they seem to complain about Chinese people more. I'm learning Japanese so I practice by reading the 2channel message boards every so often. The "China" section of the 2channel message board seems to have quite a few threads filled with complaints about Chinese students (every so often, a Chinese person will attempt to defend themselves on the board, in Japanese) while the "English" section has no complaints about US people in Japan. Interestingly enough, the "Taiwan" section of the board is blocked. Probably because I'm in China and through a proxy I saw a couple of "Support Taiwanese Independence" threads.

Re:But *IS* there a decent way to enter Chinese ch
Last I heard people in China (& Japan) used Roman letters because as clumsy as the were, they were easier to enter than the Hiragana.
That's ridiculous. The biggest internet forum in the world is 2channel (eng nav). The text there consists almost entirely of hiragana, katakana, and kanji. About the only place you see Latin characters at 2channel is in URLs.
The Chinese and Japanese sections of Wikipedia are likewise nearly absent of Latin characters. -
Re:As usual...
Nah, I don't have a PS3 (didn't feel like lining up at Bic Camera for the whole night). The impressions are just from looking at the photos.
As for the posts regarding heat, etc., see here and here.
There does seem to be some variation regarding the heat output - everybody agrees that the fan is very quiet, but some people are saying it gets warm, whereas others say it gets very hot.
One thing that was mentioned is that the power consumption is lower than expected, peaking around 190W or so. -

Re:don't mind me
I use FC...I think 3. (Should know that.) I always did use GNOME, but I just switched to KDE; I checked it a few hours ago and it didn't help.
The Japanese Wikipedia is the biggest culprit, although I tested it at 2chan. While surfing, I rarely have more open than two Abiword windows (occasionally three), the browser (never more than one full window), and the CD player. You're right, though: I haven't done anything for the kernel (or even Mozilla) in two years now, so I probably should upgrade.
Thanks for the advice. -
Re:They will remove offensive video clips.
2ch BBS goes well beyond the realm of "Otaku" in that it has boards for everything, from music to fashion to business, and everything in between. The relatively simple interface allows it to be viewed from cell phones, too. The otaku may be the most prolific, but they're hardly the only audience.
Like many online communities, they develop their own memes, and even have a "Slashdot effect" of their own; URLs are posted without the leading h to avoid flooding unsuspecting webservers. My favorite board has to be the AA Saloon, filled with all kinds of crazy, creative, and quite often, NSFW ascii art. -

Re:I believe I speak for everyone when I say
Yeah, online anonymity totally doesn't work! That's why the largest web forum in the world would never be totally anonymous!
-
Re:Erm ok?
One of the reasons anonymous posting hasn't taken off in the west yet (unlike in, say, Japan, where the biggest message board in the world is anonymous) might just be because people think anonymity is only good for hiding from some sort of super-powerful government persectution. Which is not the case. Besides just hiding from friends and bosses and such, it's also good for a number of other things.

Re:Government files on Winny
Wait, so the cop was using Winny when the files were leaked? That's somewhat embarrassing.
Yeah, and given that the police department that arrested the guy is the same one where this problem heppened, a number of people on
/.J and 2ch are suggesting that the arrest is mostly the police trying to save what face they have left. (I wouldn't be surprised myself if that was at least part of the reason.) -
Re:4chan.org
Do you know "Futaba-Channel" ?
it is a different thing in "2ch.net"
-
Re:Well.actually the prior arrests are of the users of this software, for making illegal copies of software and movies available to public for download/share with winny. the creator of Winny, at that point, was questioned by the authority to cooperate in their investigation.
now the authority decided to arrest him because from what he (mr. "47") wrote on "2ch" message board earlier, his intention to support copyrights infringement by developing Winny was clear. --he allegedly wrote:"we will face changes in current concept of copyrights as file sharing software with total anonymity become available anytime soon. maybe I can push that trend." (translation by me)
it is a breaking case as the developer of p2p software got arrested, but the background of arrest leaves me wonder what would have happened if "47" did not mention copyrights issues publicly and left the purpose of development innocent. even though Winny has already caused much trouble, making an arrest case could have been far more difficult. -
Re:CONNECT 1200
Maybe you should look at this. ASCII art still lives in Japanese BBS (now web-based, of course), as "Mona-art"

Re:UNICODE FOREVER
This is not exactly an Unicode site (it's a Shift-JIS site), but it is a small sample of what Unicode art can do, and it is very impressive even for a subset.
