In my recent vacation in the US I was stunned that nobody saw a world-famous picture with US troops guarding the ministry of oil. It was printed in a lot of world press newspapers. A quick search on google couldn't turn up the image, but there is a reference here. No idea what this source is (I did a very quick search). Apparantly US media is biased or censured, so make sure you check all possible sources of information... It is hard to convince Europeans that the Iraqi war is not about oil when a picture like that is in the paper...

I suggest you do some research of your own. I have found that if you do not dismiss out of hand what other people have to say but still hold to firm convictions of human culpability versus capability most world conflicts will work themselves out to a story of the haves vs the have nots. Care to guess who is deprived of basic health care, education, and livliehoods by the other party? Why are there Jewish Groups that stand by Palestinians but not vice versa? It seems to me that people like Schindler and the like were on the rightous side, agreed? When women who help

I've read this a few times in the discussion and I do see your point though you need to admit that the circumstances have some important differences. On one hand the US is trying to punish a country for not falling in line with their war which most of the world viewed as unnecessary and was highly against (including the population of the country in question). The EU on the other hand is going against a country which joined in a war which was AGAINST both the wishes of the international community and against the wishes of its own public!

Frankly I wouldn't want to stick a Fusion reactor in a country which has just shown itself to ignore both the international community and it's own people to support the american war effort. The fact is you cannot limit your use of technology without sacrificing huge amounts of convenience (and constantly explaining to people why you only communicate through carrier pidgeon). I don't know what information vacuum you've been living in but there were a significant number of innocent victims in the bombing campaign who had nothing to do with bin Laden, in fact, they were victims as well. By the way, bin Laden is still at large and suprise! suprise! Nobody seems to care about him anymore. This is looking less and less like a "war on terrorism" and more like a war of imperialism.
