So maybe you will get your wish.Personally, I expect him to be Bush++ - even more easily manipulated, and the people surrounding him will be even more extreme than Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. Re:A leader who defuses the situation?
We get a leader who tries to calm and reassure a potential dangerous adversary?
I'm sure Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave right about now. I remember his position on Russia being quite a bit different back in 1983:
"I urge you to beware the temptation of pride—the temptation of blithely declaring yourselves above it all and label both sides equally at fault, to ignore the facts of history and the aggressive impulses of an evil empire, to simply call the arms race a giant misunderstanding and thereby remove yourself from the struggle between right and wrong and good and evil."
If you have the time, you might want to read that speech in full. Reagan talks a great deal about morality, and about faith, both of which seem somewhat lacking in our current president-to-be. In fact, during this speech, Reagan makes the claim that morality and faith are in fact far stronger than rockets or bombs, and that victory in the Cold War would come from America's traditional values, not from military might.
It's therefore depressing to me that today's conservatives, who otherwise lionize Reagan, seem so willing to forget those traditional values and morals whenever it's convenient to do so, as it is with Vladimir Putin. Trump's cozying-up to Putin is about as close to an outright rejection of Ronald Reagan's legacy as I can imagine. You realize that Putin worked for the Soviet-era KGB, yes? Did you also know that during a 2011 meeting with Vice President Joe Biden, Putin smiled and said, "We understand one another," after Biden told him he had no soul? Do you honestly believe Reagan would have embraced Russia's annexation of Crimea, or the on-going military assistance to rebels in east Ukraine?
I'm hopeful that Trump will be able to negotiate solutions to our differences with Russia, but I suspect what will actually occur is that Trump and his team will simply agree to turn a blind eye to the humanitarian problems and other issues Putin causes. Makes me wonder what the world would be like today if Reagan as president had taken the same course of action.

Re:Dear Californians
The San Joaquin river. Could be a dry season issue, but the dry area at the time (link below) was over 40 miles. A guy tried to kayak down the river for CNN.
Using the CNN link below, page down to mile 187, that's where the river ends. It does start up at a later point. As well, the ground itself has sunk up to 30 feet from aquifer depletion (per Nat Geo link farther down).

Who you calling "idiots"?
You just elected a Russian mole.
Sure. Because Kremlin says so... Except, they don't even claim that... It is all a product of hypotheses, suggestions, and unsubstantiated — usually anonymous — claims.
Meanwhile, a few facts about Clinton's recent past:
- In 2010 abolished the anti-Russia sanctions imposed over their invasion of Georgia in 2008 — thus, predictably, inviting them into Ukraine (and, correspondingly, to Syria).
- Criticized and mocked, along with other "Progressives", the very notion, that Russia may be hostile to the United States.
- "Reset".
- Routed billions of dollars worth of American investments into Russia's high tech — some of it with military purpose — while rewarding herself in the process.
- Has a history of taking bribes from Putin with who knows what other things remaining up his sleeve with which to blackmail her.
The only thing, that can be done to address the above accusations by your kind is down-modding them — facts are stubborn. So, apply some Vaseline, charge your Prius and head for Canada as you promised.
The Beautiful Wickedness finally had some water splashed on her, and us, the deplorable munchkins, are rejoicing.

Re: And to think the DNC wanted to face Trump...
Not working full time is the underemployed stat. I am very sure about these issues with BLS stats. My research professor for my grad degree did work in econometrics and always commented that the BLS unemployment series was manipulated to hell and back.
But what the hell do I know, not like the labor force participation rate is at historic lows... wait a minute, they are. At least, we aren't seeing a downward sloping Labor force participation rate that walks in step with a downward U3 and U6, indicating discouraged unemployment over 12 months. Oh wait... we are. Not like we are seeing increases in food stamp and public housing... oh we are.
I am not the first to notice this problem with unemployment rate.

Re:Trump calling someone else for not paying taxes
So, Trump's tax adviser will be sheriff, then. Because Trump is not even remotely a tax expert, despite his claims. His own tax adviser said he literally just signed his returns after they were prepared for him without any involvement at all. (Citation: http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/05/...)

Re:And to think the DNC wanted to face Trump...
If you still actually believe that "what really sunk her was all this innuendo", then here's an article by someone more involved than both of us. He thinks that we need to tear up and remake the Democratic party. The Democratic party failed all of us who don't believe that Trump would be a good president, but couldn't stomach voting for Clinton, and they absolutely failed anyone else calling themselves a Democrat.

Re:Most perceptive comment of the night
I once too tried to give Trump credit for this kind of thinking, but I was wrong. He believes this stuff quite literally, see here:
Donald Trump called Barack Obama "the founder of ISIS." Trump was attacked for the statement because people took it literally. During a Trump interview, conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt tried to clarify that Trump meant it figuratively, stating that Barack Obama created ISIS by pulling out of Iraq too quickly and leaving a power vacuum. But Trump interrupted him, and clarified that no - Barack Obama was literally the founder of ISIS.
CNN coverage of the interview.
The interview itself.Theory: In the elderly, one of the first signs of dementia is the inability to detect sarcasm. They cannot distinguish figurative and literal language. Could it be that 70-year-old Donald Trump, after living a big time player's lifestyle, is starting to lose it? Maybe he literally thinks we can build a wall between the US and Mexico? Suppose he has bought the line that Barack Obama is a Muslim, then is it a stretch for him to think Obama is also the founder of ISIS?

I don't know if their profit includes subsidies, I'm assuming not. I don't mind seeing government assistance for something as large as a new US auto manufacture, particularly one investing in new technologies. Though I'd like to see that money specifically listed as research or startup investments, preferably to be paid back eventually or have Tesla share their research results with other US companies, rather than through subsidies.

Re:When automation is cheaper than people...
To steal a line from Mel Brooks "bullshit bullshit aaaannnnnddddd bullshit!"
If you wanna know why the jobs left and will never come back? here ya go. The Ayn Rand bullshit has NEVER worked and we have proof because we already tried it it was called "the age of the robber barons" and is why we have superfund sites now.
If I can dump my toxins out the backdoor and you have to pay to dispose of yours? I win, simple as that. The incredible greed of the corps have reached a point that even THAT is not enough as they are now automating factories even in China where they pay joke wages and take a couple decades off their lives with toxins because Wong Fong actually wants a dollar a day and that dollar could help pay for another Rolls for the CEO.
So nobody gives a rat's ass about tax BS and regs but the little guy, the corps have been dodging them for years, see Apple who pays less in taxes than the guy that sweeps their floors or how Halliburton was able to just walk away from 2 superfund sites simply by cutting a couple checks to Bush's CREP. If YOU wanna live in a cancer city? Go right ahead, I'm sure we can set up a Patreon to buy you and your family a one way ticket to a nice toxic waste dump in China, but those "omegerd regs" you are bitching about are there PRECISELY because we saw what happened without them, thousands of acres of places that will kill your ass very dead that will take trillions of dollars (that of course the corps aren't paying) to clean up, if they can be cleaned at all. Most of them will simply be fenced off and allowed to rot, our own little Chernobyls leaking toxic garbage.
BTW have you ever seen what happens to one of these places, or how much it costs? I have as a local factory was declared toxic after they abandoned it in the 80s (and of course they had it owned by a shell corp so they didn't have to pay the cleanup natch), it required guys in moonsuits to take it apart and ship even the dirt it sat on to be carried off in sealed trucks to a desert toxic burial site at an insane cost to the state thanks to it being saturated with 4 different cancer causing chemicals and covered in asbestos, not to mention the incredible healthcare costs of all those that got sick and died because they worked in there including my grandmother. I figure the feds and the state probably ended up on the hook for a good 50-60 million minimum for just that one little factory but luckily thanks to the lack of "ehmygerd regs" at the time the corp of course was able to take the profits they made from it and not give back a cent to clean their mess which I'm sure gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.

Coins for Hillary
This woman won 6 of 6 coin tosses to beat Bernie in Iowa.
That is incorrect information that was pushed by the media in initial frenzy of reporting, but completely debunked. Here's the Iowa Register story, which I would the most accurate source for information in Iowa: http://www.desmoinesregister.c...
According to the Register, the report of Hillary winning six coin flips came from social media. Of the seven coin flips to break ties that were actually officially reported through the voting app, Sanders won six, and Clinton one. http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/02/...
Here's a more interesting question: since Clinton did not in fact win a majority of coin tosses, what are the statistical chances that coin flips that happened to get reported in on social media would suggest that she did?

You might want to check the Project Veritas video
James O'Keefe's is famous precisely for making videos dishonestly edited and presented to create fake scandals.
I'll watch his video on a scandal after I finish reviewing Bernie Madoff's report on my mutual funds.
And there was also this guy who attempted to steal a gun: http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/19/...
And a mentally ill guy from Britain has to do with what?
There were also fake pedophile smears against Julian (Todd & Claire) as well as Trump (Epstein has way more ties to Bill, and Podesta has a ton of pedo friends apparently, including the former Republican speaker/convicted child molester so one really wonders what *they* have in common...) with that lawsuit now being voluntarily dismissed after being debunked even by Jezebel, Popehat and many other sources.
Well we don't actually know the accusations against Trump were fake, they were damn sketchy but that doesn't mean they were fake.
-
Brought to you by people who enjoy #spiritcooking
You might want to check the Project Veritas video--we have people like Zulema Rodriguez to thank for those protests turning violent. And we can fact check that all the way back to her illegal actions at the AZ protest, lying to cops, and being on the Democratic payroll thanks to the FEC site. So you might be inclined to believe the people you don't like are violent, but we have videos that can be independently corroborated, as well as discussions in the Podesta email dump to tie it all together.
And there was also this guy who attempted to steal a gun: http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/19/...
So we can hardly rule out any sort of dirty tricks here, especially with Hillary's poll numbers taking a dive lately.

Re:There's more to come...
Where to start? Perhaps you could start by reading the articles you've linked, or maybe even going to the actual sources of those stories? Allow me to help:
1) The Thornton Law firm (straw donor program) -- The Boston Globe reports that at least 21 politicians nationwide, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, have agreed to give back or give-away over $600,000 received from the law firm. Given that no charges have yet been brought, nor have federal authorities even begun investigating the case, it looks to me like the Democrats who received donations from the Thornton firm are being about as above-board regarding this unfortunate incident as you could reasonably ask them to be.
2) Patriot Majority USA (voter fraud ring) -- As other posters in this thread have noted, the investigation is for alleged voter registration issues, not voting fraud. However, a total of 10 suspicious registration forms, out of the 40,000 the group claims to have submitted, certainly isn't going to move the election one iota in either direction, and this incident seems a far cry from the kind of fraud you appear to be alleging.
3) Peter Kadzik email on May 19th, 2015 -- As CNN points out in a recent article, the filing referred to in the email had already been made public a day before Mr. Kadzik sent his email. However, aside from that point, I'd agree it does look like Mr. Kadzik intended to tip-off the Clinton campaign, and I would also agree that even the appearance of impropriety in a Justice Department official should be investigated.
4) Peter Kadzik supposedly in charge of reopened investigation -- Again, as CNN reported in the article linked above, Peter Kadzik is not involved in any known Justice Department investigations regarding the Clinton family. Obviously, if Mr. Kadzik isn't involved the investigations, there is no conflict of interest, making his relationship with John Podesta, or his son's relationship with Podesta for that matter, wholly immaterial. Even Republican Senator Trey Gowdy, who chaired the House Select Committee on Benghazi, admits Mr. Kadzik isn't a decision-maker at the Department of Justice.
5) Hopewell Baptist Church fire -- Unfortunately, your YOUCARING link appears dead, but several sources confirm that the Hopewell church was likely set on fire Tuesday night, with the message 'Vote Trump' spray-painted around the same time. As the article points out, there's likely no way to know for sure if Trump supporters started the fire, but it's certainly troubling. However, I have no doubt that the community of Greenville will pull together and rebuild the damage, and I imagine some of that help will likely come from Republicans, including those supporting Trump in the election.

Re:No Shit
What? That Trump is a Russian operative?
Absolutely! The Russians also infiltrated Hillarys brain and convinced her to set up a private email server. Podesta's too - the Russians convinced him to set his password to 'p@ssw0rd'. Yep, it was the Russians and not the fact that Podesta is an @ssh0le and accessory to murder.
The Russians also duplicated state department emails from Huma Abedin onto Carlos Danger's laptop. Yep, the Russians...
There is no precedent for a guy that makes weird sounds and posts provocative tweets having a chance of becoming POTUS. The other side has to be so completely unelectable as to win it for them. With the help of the Russians no doubt?

Pretty sure it's the liberals who wanted to mandate government issue marriage certificates to gays. This issue does not support your argument unless there's recent examples of laws passed to prevent same-sex people from having civil ceremonies and living together as "married."
This is exactly what we're complaining about - a local jurisdiction approved same-sex marriage (as without such legislation same-sex spouses couldn't even see the other spouse in the emergency room), then the conservative response [1] is to pass constitutional amendments through fear and hysteria.
You might want to research before posting next time.

Re:Is this the same "One Decade" we were promised.
So what's "noticeable"? The problem is that the changes occur so slowly we aren't likely to notice.
Yep we won't notice In case you're too lazy to read those, they go from pending flooding to already uninhabitable and cover descriptions of vanishing land due to rising seas over the last 80 or so years.
I live in a major city - we had our first major snowfall over two weeks ago and temperatures have been at or below 0C for nearly a month. There are still THOUSANDS of kilometers of land (many million square km) between me and the north pole, btw. Also, this snow cover will likely last until next May (8 months out of the year).
So, from this we can surmise that you live at least 3k km south of the north pole. Given that London or Tokyo are also just over 3000 km south of the north pole and aren't covered by snow for 8 months, we can also surmise that you live inland and possibly at altitude. You might just as well complain that you suffer from heat, year round snow, or daily rainfall and high humidity and live 13k km south of the north pole (all are possible, it's merely geography)
A warming trend seems like a good thing, and if you're telling me I'll live to see a point where we don't have winter like conditions for over two thirds of the year, we're all just going to laugh.
You could just move as it appears you severely dislike your climate instead of advocating that the rest of the world become potentially uninhabitable to make your apparently miserable location bearable.

Re:it's about money and power
When executive branch officials are forced to sell assets, they are allowed to defer paying the capital gains tax owed if they buy "permitted property" within 60 days of the sale. Permitted property includes Treasury securities and/or a diversified investment fund, such as an stock index mutual fund or something similar if approved by the Office of Government Ethics. A conservative guess is she will save a few hundred million in taxes on the divestment of 1.4B in facebook stock. See Henry Paulson example here: http://money.cnn.com/2006/06/2...
