Re:A chilling effect
By "outings", I meant: "An excursion, typically a pleasure trip. A walk outdoors".
Oh, you meant something closer to this. Now I get it.
I guess one can always play a game of baseball, tennis, hopscotch, etc, without breaching copyright.
In non-summer weather? Indoor tennis courts cost a lot of money to rent, and exclusive rights to land are the only exclusive right that is more sacred than copyright to a copyright advocate. Modern electronic hopscotch games are copyrighted, but I'm glad that at least one is permissively licensed.

There is no revolution without arrows
As soon as I heard the word "XBox 360" it made me think "XBox Revolution" and then thoughts of Nintendo's codename ran through my head for their next product.
Not my head. To me, there is no honor without pi, and there is no revolution without arrows.

vi foreshadowed the DDR layout
What's with vi using k,h,l,j anyway?
Play Dance Dance Revolution for a while, and you will understand vi's HJKL layout.

No, call it
Tron Revolutions? More like Tron Tron Revolution!

I fear for your health
Imagine playing a 3D RPG, ala FFX (or, less theoretically, how about Ys VI), and having to recharge every 3 hours.
Playing video games for more than 3 hours in a stretch may ruin your eyes and/or make you fat unless you're playing the exercise game for at least part of the time.

Re:An honest question..
No, DDR has four arrows. Make that $1000K.

Dancing with stability...
Will DDR2 memory let me hit twice as many arrows at the same BPM?

Re:Woo
I mean, DDR-II has a significant price-premium over current DDR
DDR 2nd Mix? That's still way old.

Whac-a-Mole, Stomp the Spiders, and DDR
As for DDR, I think that's pretty straightforward. You put your feet where the arrows say to put them to do the proper dance step.
Not if you don't have the extra $50+S&H per player to spend on BNS DX-Xtreme dance pads.
I dunno what this "whack pieces" thing is. Maybe if they didn't tie it in with dancing I'd agree
The local Chuck E. Cheese restaurant has a redemption game (i.e. a game that spits out tickets based on the player's performance) called "Stomp the Spiders" or something like that. It's like Whac-a-Mole for the feet. Each of seven panels lights up and the player has to step on it before it disappears (roughly 1-2 sec judge window) to score points. DDR is based on roughly the same concept as that, except 1. the order in which the next second or two of panels will light up is displayed on a screen, 2. the timing is stricter (roughly 100ms judge window) because the audio dictates the timing (except for buggy off-sync songs such as "D2R" and "Hyper Eurobeat" but that's a discussion for another forum), and 3. it doesn't spit out tickets.
To me, logic == consistency.

DDR is for you
find me a machine that involved exercise, video games, a love life, advice on stocks, and beer
Exercise and video games: Dance Dance Revolution by Konami.
A love life: The gathering of players of both sexes at arcades that have a DDR machine may lead to the beginning of a relationship.
Advice on stocks: Buy Konami.
Beer: Unfortunately, this is the only hard part. Most arcades I've visited do not serve alcoholic beverages, and I don't know how many bars have DDR machines next to their video slot machines. However, you can still buy the home version, get your friends, and play during the Super Bowl, between commercials. (Who watches it for the football anymore?)

Dance With Intensity
I'm a huge fan of DDR and I've been playing it since it came out in Japan.. I prefer the Beatmania series, but I'm not too big on the Beatmania IIDX branch.
An excellent DDR Sim for the PC is called "Dance With Intensity" and it allows you to use mp3s to recreate the DDR experience at home..all you need a dance mat for the PSX with a PSX-> USB adaptor and maybe some tv out to go to your tv. I have a laptop that functions as a dedicated DWI machine.

Re:Try it on your PC - StepMania!
I know it's a competing project, but it would only be fair for me to mention Dance with Intensity as well.
Both StepMania and DWI are great- I have found DWI tries to be a more 'authentic' simulator (and does well at that), while StepMania adds new modes and features not found in DDR (Drunk mode, anyone? :) -
