Re:Ok, 2019
Bannon turned down the part?
Bannon's going to be in a different sci-fi movie:

Re:Not affordable
Does that price include tax? Regular screening is $14.19+ [1] IMAX is $21+

Do not forget...
Noah in theaters on March 28. I do not think that is enough time for the tsunami!

Re:Sony, IMAX, Discovery To Launch 3D TV NetworkStop me if I am wrong, imax cameras can be used by any studio.
The list below was quickly trawled up on google, I dont discount you could be right.- Buena Vista - http://www.fandango.com/GlobalSearch.aspx?repos=Movies&tab=Articles+Movies+People+Theaters+Video&q=3d&wssaffid=11828_MoviesDotCom&wssac=131
- MGM/ UA's - no results
- Walt Disney Pictures - http://disney.go.com/search/?q=3d&x=11&y=12
- Paramount Pictures - http://www.paramount.com/news/press-releases/paramount-pictures-star-trek-to-be-released-as-imax-movie-may-8-2009 (only scant 3d use in connection with imax)
- Twentieth Century Fox - Avatar
My main point is media companies seem to see 3d as some saviour giving a unique selling point whilst protecting demand (profit) from pirates.

'PyroMosh purchased the Deluxe 12" Ass-Ramming Dildo from Anal Enterprises'
Have you been reading my facebook? I have to remember to set that to private.
Seriously, though I gravely misunderstood what this beacon was. I thought it was just some API hooks that would let advertisers run queries against facebook posts presumably to deliver targeted ads or some other such nonsense. I had no idea it was what it was.
That said, from what I understand, it uses a cookie to identify one's ID. Since the cookie only contains user ID data, and logging in is not necessary, would it not have been possible (even trivial) to forge activity history for any arbitrary facebook user? As long as you know their ID, you can have them purchase the 'Deluxe 12" Ass-Ramming Dildo from Anal Enterprises' as many times as you please.

Re:Slashdot is living in the stone age
Tell you what... Give us back the hundred years of culture you stole from us and you can have this for a reasonable time -- say, 15 years. Keep the position that you stole that longer term fair and square and we can't have it back, and you'll find most people don't care what the law says. You steal from the people. You steal from the artists. And you think people won't react by treating you like a greedy little troll with no entitlement to intellectual property rights?

Re:Theater near OSCON
Lloyd Center has two sets of theaters, the other one being in a standalone building across the street from the mall. It also happens to be showing the new Batman http://www.fandango.com/regallloydcenter10cinema_aaapp/theaterpage.
-
Theaters near OSCON
You could try Pioneer Place Stadium 6. http://www.fandango.com/regalpioneerplacestadium6_aaqzi/theaterpage/
It is just a simple walk (4-5 blocks) to the nearest MAX station from OSCON, then one stop west (A Blue, Yellow or Red line will do). -
Lloyd Center
Obviously Cmdr T won't be reading this, but the Lloyd Center cinemas are very close to the OSCON venue - two stops on the MAX, or about half a mile if he feels like walking.

If you love the U.S. like I do, you will...
... see the movie Sicko.
The parent comment, and others, minimize the issue. The issue is fraud by the medical profession. The medical system in the U.S. is broken.
Okay, this is an exaggeration to try to be funny: If you open your window on a quiet night, you can hear the crying of hundreds of people. Film studio executives in Hollywood are crying because they have to spend $20 million to market a movie that cost $20 million to film, but Michael Moore is invited to sell his movie Sicko from the podium in the U.S. federal government's House of Representatives, and the New York Times publishes a photograph, shown in the NYT article For Filmmaker,`Sicko' Is a Jumping-Off Point for Health Care Change. Quote from the article: "Even the haters agree this film is genius!"
When I last checked Fandango.com, there were 1651 "must see" ratings, 115 "go" ratings, and only 62 lower ratings. Sicko is the highest rated movie ever, apparently.
Complaining about Michael Moore is evidence of ignorance. He does the best he can. Do not demand that your evidence be sugar-coated and delivered on a silver plate. Get it where you can, and cross-check it carefully, or know you are purposely avoiding being part of the solution to the problems.
For those whose real purpose is having a way to act out their anger, while hiding it from themselves, get help. Work on resolving your anger, rather than listening to anger sellers like Rush Limbaugh.
One last thing: If you had educated yourself about what the U.S. government is doing and has done, you would have known that Michael Moore's movie Fahrenheit 451, while faulty in presentation, was entirely based on fact. For example, George W. Bush really does hold hands in an affectionate way with Saudis who control the Saudi government. Osama bin Laden's major complaint was that the U.S. government was supporting a Saudi government he thinks should be replaced. I'm against violence from any source, but certainly a Saudi citizen like bin Laden has a right to object to a regime in his own country that many Saudis say is repressive. -
Why Theatres Matter
Nifty article on the contribution of theatres to the movie experience.
Particularly poignant seem to be:
- Movies Play Better with Big Audiences
- Because Classic Theaters are Like American Versions of Cathedrals
- Classic Films Become Brand New Experiences

The ArborThe Arbor went under and the space was bought out by The Cheescake Factory. However, it has reopened at the old Great Hills cinema location and is now called Regal Arbor Cinema @ Great Hills. It still shows first run "indie" films and participates in SXSW.

At 31 Yers Old...
How many of you are planning to skip at least part of your workday on the first two days?
Well I already have my physical tickets hanging from my 'fridge. I also flat-out told my managers (yes plural... :-\ ) that I will be unavailable that day (May 19th). My Son, my GF, my Mom and, myself have tickets (again, literally hanging on my fridge).

Better ways for theaters to fight backHere's a more honest way for theaters to fight back - better quality.
Tonight, at the Sony Metreon in SF: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in IMAX . Now that's the way to see the movie.

Re:but tickets now.....
How? I searched the fandango site and it said that showtimes for Reloaded weren't released yet and that I couldn't buy them.

Cowboy Bebop limited release
Fandango says LA/NY too:

Re:Just slightly off-topic
I use Fandango every now and then, without a hitch. It is actually convenient to be able to buy the tickets and not have to worry about waiting in line at the theatre - just go to the counter, that has almost not line - and get mine. Considering the price for movies now, the $1 per ticket is not that much compared to how much time I can save.

Sept 20th, not 27th... at least where I live.
Fandango.com is reporting that the release date for Spirited Away is today (9/20/02) and I do indeed plan on seeing it tonight. Fandango.com. Did the original poster simply make a mistake or am I just lucky that I live in a metropolitan area that happens to be one of the select cities showing it early?

digital projectors?
i thought this technology was pretty standardized....then again, i live in the rich suburb of dallas, home of TI, maker of the DLP. we've had a DLP projector at the major megaplex, aka cinemark @ legacy. nifty place, 7 bucks for the standard adult ticket, 5.50 for student/senior.
so far i've seen star wars:TPM, monsters inc., final fantasy, 13 ghosts (scary as fuck, man), and probably a bunch of others. if you're looking for a movie that's digital, it's playing in theater 12.
more handy info can be found (including locations) @ fandango.com
i, for one, will be one of the first geeks to see star wars:AOTC in it's full digital beauty first showing on opening day.
