WaiWai
Prob'ly mildly offtopic, but whenever I see "Mainichi Daily News", I think of their Wai Wai section, which is full of crazy stories with headlines like "Schoolgirls selling panties open avenue of danger" or "Louis' leathers lure lasses into luxurious lunacy". It's the kind of Jap-weirdness that occasionally shows up on FARK.

Here's where you can find stories a lot more interesting than this one.

Re:Must have read Fark too much
True, true...
I was even gonna try to post an "I'd Hit It" image to the thread.

So..
Do you do anything besides wanking off to your site, lowering your iq, and complaining on slashdot?
-
Easy...
Never visit this site. Its a good way to kill your IQ points, make you retarded, and set you up for a future in selling fast food.

Re:I predict 24 hours from now
we will see a slashdot story about the sale of shuttle parts on eBay being shut down. (Don't do it, the shuttle parts are still owned by NASA, and you'll get FBI agents raiding your house searching for the stolen property.)
You misunderestimate[GWB] people. It has already happened, and it has already been taken down. Here is an archive of the page and resulting discussion on Fark. -
It didn't run here...
... but it did run on Fark...

I think we've seen this somewhere before...

Yet another Graphics Card (yawn)
This article bears a stunning resemblance to this fake one posted by Stoatbringer on this Fark Forum.

fark linked article says otherwiseFound at fark last Friday
Boastful killer shows the court who's stupidA man who wrote a prosecutor a letter boasting about killing a 16-year-old girl - thinking a court ruling prevented him from getting the death penalty - has been convicted of capital murder.
A jury on Wednesday found Paul Powell, 24, guilty of attempted rape and murder in the 1999 stabbing death of Stacie Reed.
Powell had been convicted in 2000, but the Virginia Supreme Court overturned the verdict, ruling he could not be executed because prosecutors lacked evidence that Powell tried to rape or rob the girl. -

Re:IN SOVIET RUSSIA...
Seesh, what a pathetic excuse for a troll you are.
Why not go to some site that reflects your iq level?
Heck, I think the morons there will fall for anything you say and do. -
Re:Something I've always wanted to know...
Some guy named Whatever89 or something had a great response to this question the other day on fark. This is his response:

No one truly makes 100 percent of his money by himself. Individuals depend on a wide array of government services to support the very free market in which they earn their money. Without these supports, there would be no free market in the first place.
Argument
Many conservatives and libertarians have argued that the government has no right to tax their money; they earned it, and the government has no right to "steal" it.
However, these individuals could not have made a dime on the free market without any of the following government supports of the free market:
Printing the very dollar bills with which people trade.
Public roads.
Rural electrification.
Government subsidized telephone wiring.
Satellite communications.
Police protection.
Military protection.
A criminal justice system.
Fire protection.
Paramedic protection.
An educated workforce.
An immunized workforce.
Protection against plagues by the Centers for Disease Control.
Public-funded business loans, foreclosure loans and subsidies.
Protection from business fraud and unfair business practices.
The protection of intellectual property through patents and copyrights.
Student loans.
Government funded research and development.
National Academy of Sciences.
Economic data collected and analyzed by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
Prevention of depressions by Keynesian policies at the Fed (successful for six decades now).
Dollars protected from inflation by the Fed.
Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Public libraries.
Cooperative Extension Service (vital for agriculture)
National Biological Service.
National Weather Service
Public job training.
"Why shouldn't the American people take half my money from me? I took all of it from them."
Edward Albert Filene (1869-1937)
Filene (of Boston's Filene's Department Stores) founded the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to encourage businesses to contribute to the welfare of their communities. He eventually quit the organization, disappointed that it had become a bastion of right-wing conservatism and an anti-tax lobby. -

Re:Other Questions People Will Have......
Talk about abuse of karma...
You're right. I should have used that karma to feed a kitten. Although as people on fark will attest, I'm probably much better at killing kittens. -

Re:One word: Mozilla
OK, so Slashdot's ads aren't too bad. That was just the first thing that came to mind. Fark is probably a better example - lots of animated gifs on the front page.
The point is that blocking images by the server isn't the best way to do it, since sometimes ad and non-ad images are hosted on the same server. Mozilla's image blocking is nice, but still could stand some improvement. -

American "ass hats" mostly.
btw what is an ASS HAT?
Someone with an ass on their head as a hat which signifies that person is an asshole.
Review at www.fark.com -
Hehehe, you farkers.
It's nice to know someone else here reads fark. (Search for "Japan".) I was going to submit this, but I figured since nothing I submit ever gets accepted, I should let this one be so it could be accepted from someone else

Re:Deja vu
I bet they got the idea after seeing a similar computer on Fark!

Old news!
Fark reported this on sunday!
Seriously, Google news and fark are WAY better than slashdot! -
Most effective online ads I've seen....The most effective ads I've seen are the ones on Kuro5hin and -- cough -- mbe fark (although I'm not usually in the market for porn, a.b. groups satisfy me just fine.
;).A small text-only non-obtrusive add that -- most importantly -- links to a comment section where potential clients can comment on the advertiser and, glory be, some rep from that company is there to answer questions and address criticisms.
For example, this ad and comment page for Johncompanies helped convince me to get a virtual dedicated host with them.
It also has the added benefit that the advertiser gets a real-life feel for how effective the ad is, and doesn't have to rely on some easily falsifiable clickthrough or impression report from the advertising company.
Now, if you're peddling shit, I'm sure this kind of instant-feedback type ad is not going to be your cup-of-tea. Another reason why I like these ads.

Re:page rendering
Try loading a *very* image-heavy page, like a Fark photoshop thread, or some ebay auctions. Takes a long time for some of those pages to render, as if the image-loading thread were hogging all the CPU or some such. One of the few faults of 6.0x on Linux, but even so, it blows anything else I've tried out of the water. (Well, IE5.5/Win95 is faster if you luck out and find a page with no popups, but it's so feature-starved I wouldn't want to deal with it...)

Has ask slashdot turned into a fscking software problems/bug report board?
Please be a little more selective; job ads, hormones, wtf news for nerds? - you're better than this guys...
Yeah, what do you think this is, Fark? Next we'll have stuff like "Photoshop this Star Trek convention to add Lego LotR characters."

But in Soviet Russia, the Meteors study YOU!
i think this joke has been done to death...please people...stop stealing jokes from FARK

-
Re:IN SOVIET RUSSIA
I first started seeing them on fark around a year ago. Fark is known for dragging cliches out to the their very deadest. I believe this is just one of those pop culture cliches.
-
Re:IN SOVIET RUSSIA...
Please go back to the hellhole this spwaned from. The morons there actully find that funny, along with making fun of mentaly disable people, cats, shit, and other things that you must be really stoned or a low IQ to find even remotly funny.

Still can't figure out how it works...Saw this on fark and boingboing a few days ago.
A number of posters on those site feel it's no big deal, a guy holding things in front of a projector... That's what I thought at first. But what I can't figure out is why doesn't the image show on the guys hands and face. You'd think at least some light would be reflected off of his hands.
