    Those screenshots look absolutely horrifying, but if you watch the trailer (it's a freecache link, so hopefully it won't be /.ed) it doesn't look quite as bad.

    I dunno, I'm still kinda skeptical about it, but if I ever see it in an arcade I'll probably give it a spin. I mean hey - it's a light-gun game, all you have to do is shoot people, maybe I'm wrong, but it can't get that bad, can it?

    No, it wouldn't have saved him, you insensitive clod. RTFA!

    Please note that you cannot submit a whole site to FreeCache as in http://freecache.org/http://www.rocklobsters.com/ This will not work as only index.html will be cached. You have to prefix every item that you want to have cached seperately.

    Also it wouldn't have done much good for a CGI script, now would it?

    I tend to scan lots of documents and setup a simple perl script that uses the 'scanimage' command line tool to do the scanning. Using my Epson Perfection 1650 scanner (pretty standard flatbed scanner) I can scan an 8"x10" page in black & white mode in about 10 seconds.

    I actually added a button to the Nautilus GUI shell so I can move to the directory I want and hit the button to scan a page to that directory. Very convenient.

    I scan to tiff and then use the convert utility (part of imagemagick) to convert to png. The resulting files typically run about 100K to 200K depending on the content.
