ClarityRay defeats it - it can't do that to hosts (since clarityray dumps what browser addons you use so addons are EASILY DETECTED via native browser methods & YOU'RE BLOCKED STUPID).

Unfortunately YouTube's 60fps support pokes a pretty big hole in the current state of Firefox.

To play back 60fps videos you need to be using the HTML5 player and stream the 1080p version. The Flash player will not work here.

The problem? Firefox doesn't support Media Source Extensions, which is what YouTube uses for DASH adaptive streaming. Mozilla's developers are working on the matter, but only for WebM for now. H.264/MP4 MSE support will have to wait.

The end result is that 1080p60 playback works great on Chrome, Safari, and even IE11, but is all but useless on Firefox.

I don't want to slag the Firefox devs too badly (hey, it's a free browser), but once again FOSS orthodoxy is getting in the way of practical feature development. H.264 support took an embarrassingly long time to come, and now Firefox is the only browser that that can't play back 1080p60 on YouTube.

Between this and their constant attempts to turn Firefox into a Chrome-alike, it's getting harder and harder to justify using Firefox.

As covered on Slashdot previously: Australis is landing. If you read the official blog post you'll get the impression that this is all about improvements, but if you pay a bit more attention you'll see it's actually more about removing most of the in-browser customizability.

That's such a big change in direction that I don't think it's reasonable to consider Firefox 29 the same browser as previous versions, and I don't think anybody should automatically move from one to the other.

Microsoft only deleted the install used as part of Sefnit. They didn't disable legitimate installs, and they're not out to squash your freedom.

Which does not prevent them from dumping extension garbage silently in Firefox. I forget if they do the same with Silverlight and .Net.
It seems they calmed down since 2010, but I still have or see it in some old systems, which we all know are going to stick around forever given Windows XP + Firefox's tag team.

Losing potential search hits due to Bing search redirects is probably why Chrome 25 introduced blocking of these silent extensions.

If I wanted to scan screens worth of colored squares to find things, I'd put everything on the desktop as an icon. I don't because there is no hierarchical structure to it.

The "hierarchical structure" has been flattened a bit, but its all there, organized just as it has always been organized. You've got your top level stuff, your start menu folders, its all still there.

Firefox these days uses less memory than Chrome.

It seems that piriform is all worked up about an article that implies that BleachBit is importing CCleaner's data, this article in fact. However, the article does not say anywhere that the data is coming from CCleaner, it says the data is coming from Winapp2. Note that Winapp2 specifically states that they are not affiliated with Piriform!

In other words, it looks like Piriform is saying "You can read the same file format that we can read and we demand that you stop reading it", despite the fact that Piriform has no claim to the files in question.

WTF are you talking about? The "star" you're talking about does not pop up a bookmarks menu, it pops up the ability to add the URL to your bookmarks. This is effectively what you get as of Google Chrome 20.0.1132.47m:

Presently in Chrome, the menu I'm referring to requires you to:

1. Click on the wrench icon
2. Scroll down to Bookmarks
3. Click on the Bookmarks menu entry (or wait for it to expand)
4. There's all your bookmarks; pick one.

So that's 3 clicks, or 2 if you choose wait-to-expand.

Don't mention the "Bookmarks Bar" because that DOES NOT provide a menu interface of all your bookmarks. People in the aforementioned threads also complained about this. There are "hacks" you can do to add a bookmark to your bookmark bar that results in a bookmark menu (recursive anyone?), but as I said that's a horrible hack for something that used to Just Work(tm) until it was removed.

After the removal of --bookmarks-menu, there was an extension called "Neat Bookmarks" which did what people wanted. However, it turns out that extension was spying on people and Google quickly removed it from their extensions store. Here's the analysis that lead to its removal:
