Javascript costs YOU the user (in many ways)
See subject: Running clientside script defeats logic of a client-server model (you run the script clientside raising powerbills). CGIBin/WinCGI does the same serverside (ISAPI/NSAPI libs/dlls too) NOT RAISING YOUR CLIENTSIDE POWERBILL (or sucking up YOUR cpu cycles, RAM & other forms of I/O in doing so).
Clientserver was ALL ABOUT THAT (making it better for you as the client, the important consumer of information).
* Javascript's also rampantly abused to deliver malicious code (or tracking of you) to you (I don't need to note that I am sure but I am for "posterities' sake").

Reason AV companies don't like exe packing is it alters a WinPE program loader & "encrypts" (compresses) prog interior so they can't just do an ASM dump via a debugger/disassembler & trace it to see how a program operates (they try say "but, but, but... VIRUSES use that" well, so do good programs)

I can't believe that you are actually imbecile enough to post this thread here. It makes you look like an even more imbecile fucktard yet.
As some have stated on that thread "dot in NOT an operator", you fucktard! Apperently, you did not read the thread yourself or more likely, your ameba brain reading comprehension doesn't allow you to understand its content.
It's like asking: What is the dot operator precedence in Linux Slackware 1.2.3? You can't daisy chain dot operators in Windows versions (e.g. 3.1, 3.11, etc.)
What is the precedence in the 2.5 IQ that you possess?
And if you ever asked about real operators the word is "Precedence" you fucktard!
Dots are not operators in ANY OOP language you silly fuck!

Re:I want dumb everything
I get the paranoia over locks and security systems, but lights and temperature? Why not let it control those things? Do you think hackers are going to turn your lights on and off or set your thermostat really high? The microphone thing has me weary, but I'm warming up to it as I realize that Google and Apple are already listening all the time through our family's smartphones. In the case of Google you can see what they have listened in on the Voice and Audio Activity Page.

Re:Simple solution for Google & Facebook
Right. But isn't this was robots.txt is for? Perhaps we need to update the RFC to indicate that the page(s) are okay for search results, but not okay for aggregators? Seems like a simple fix that doesn't involve lawyers.
Actually there is no need for that, google allows multiple ways to block or limit the search results these news organizations can display already. Google has their different crawlers listed on their support pages and also provides examples of how to block specific crawlers from indexing their sites or limit what is displayed. In addition they also support blocking via meta tags and even http headers. So if the news organizations wanted to show up in search results but not in google news they could easily set the following on the web server:
X-Robots-Tag: Googlebot-News: noindex
And just like that the news stories would not be indexed at all, or if they did not want snippets but just a normal link they could replace noindex with nosnippet and they would have blocked news snippets being shown site wide. With the solution to their woes being so simple I am not sure why they have not done it yet.

Re:Don't be mistaken
The artificial limits placed on the number of doctors is by limiting access to the qualifications--it's not 'as many people as can meet the qualifications,' the AMA is limiting the number of seats available for people to attempt to get the qualifications in the first place
That is a popular myth from people who have been told to dislike the AMA (often as people see it as being too similar to a union for their liking). Let's take a serious look at medical education - which is the key to qualifying to practice medicine in this country- for a moment.
What the AMA does have a say on is the medical school entrance and medical school graduation requirements. They have the ability to certify a medical school as having - or not having - a program that is sufficient to qualify someone to practice medicine in this country as an MD.
What they do not have a say on is how many students can go in to a program, or how many programs there can be. If they were really interested in suppressing the number of practicing MDs, wouldn't they want to shut down (for example) the Caribbean Medical Schools? The programs down there are particularly popular for students who were close to getting in to their choice schools who didn't want to wait another year (or retake the MCAT). Many of them have higher graduation rates than schools in the US as well. If the AMA was genuinely interested in limiting the number of MDs in this country, that would be a great place for them to start as de-certifying those schools would be very easy.
Similarly, the AMA takes no stance against NP, PA, or DO programs. Those all produce medical professionals who can see patients to varying degrees depending on location.Dropping any attempt to cap the number of seats available in MD programs and instead working purely off of "program must meet these qualifications and standards" would do a lot to help,
You're looking at the wrong scape goat here. The limits are placed by the schools and programs themselves. If you want the schools to attempt to teach anatomy to classes of 400 students at a time, go ahead and make that argument. At least be knowledgeable enough to know where the bottleneck is though before you go pinning it incorrectly.
Oh, and an doctor of osteopathic medicine is a doctor. They just got a DO instead of an MD. That's pretty much it on the differences: they can, legally, get the same medical license with the same authorizations and everything as somebody with an MD, and can join the AMA if they wish.
You seem to have missed the point there. You were bashing hard on the AMA and I showed one of many ways that one can be licensed to practice medicine without going through an AMA accredited MD program.

Re:Mike Powell, Not MBA
Kit Carson Telecom has run fiber all over their service area around Taos, New Mexico - much of it rural, and with numerous geographical obstacles (mountains, national forest land, pueblo land).
Um, looking at the coverage maps on Kit Carson's website, they've only run fiber to a handful of their service areas. I'll take a wild guess that most if not all of these are in more densely populated areas.
Rural fiber isn't hard at all if you have a good relationship with the incumbent electric utility and the lines are above ground.
And apparently it's even easier if you don't worry too much about customer service, network availability, or the other finer points of being an ISP.

Thru history all empires fall, it was well noted by Gore Vidal in his book
"The decline and fall of the American Empire"https://books.google.com/books...
The book isn't perfect, but it makes some key points that are absolute gold.
I am not on blue team or red team as believe both are political theater.

Re:My Password is still good though?
I have a copy of my database on my phone. I use Keepass2Android and this USB keyboard plugin - https://play.google.com/store/... It makes it so you can plug your phone into the computer and it will be detected as a USB keyboard and then auto type your passwords in for you, no software required on any computer and no chance of your database being compromised on an untrusted PC.

You're a dirty AC so you won't see this reply, but:

Re:Where?
Yes and No.
there will be lame passwords, but some of this might be the fact that most firmware is backdoored.

Re:Scaling to the real world?
...and with 112 kg CO2 per transaction, (more than that by my math) the whole thing starts to look like a giant fucking mess.

Addons=inferior/inefficient/faulty vs. hosts
Hosts protect & addons can't (or as well):
Redundant NoScript tag parses. Hosts block script before it!
Bad sites (past ads)
Botnet C&Cs
DNS down/poisoned
Trackers (dns logs/ads/transparent ISP proxy)
Dns blocks
Spam/phish payload
Slowdown 2 ways: adblocks/hardcodes

Ads/script/malware rob speed/security/privacy/bandwidth.
Hosts add speed (via hardcodes/adblocks), security (vs. bad sites/malware/poisoned dns), reliability (vs. dns down), & anonymity (vs. dns requestlogs/trackers).
Less power/cpu/ram + IO use vs. DNS/routers/addons/antivirus + less security bugs/complexity & faster vs. addons/routers/remote dns!
Avoids DNSChangers in routers/IP settings & dns redirect (99++% of ISP DNS != patched vs. it) + DNS tracking & lighten DNS load & resolve faster via local RAM!
* Via what u NATIVELY have in a FASTER kernelmode IP stack (does more w/ less).

Yes it was, you, you *young person*.
I know because I still remember a time when there were women programmers around who started out on keypunch machines.
Picture yourself spending all day typing COBOL programs into a keypunch machine. Back in the 60s and 70s that's pretty much tantamount to picturing yourself as a woman. Don't you think you'd figure that programming thing out, particularly if you were a smart girl?
Another thing you don't remember, there was a time when being able to type carried a professional stigma. Men didn't type. If you were a woman applying for a job you'd automatically be given a typing test. This was true as late as the 70s, when my wife (a physics undergrad student) was looking for summer jobs in science. She had to pass a typing test, but ended up writing Fortran programs which helped design what became the Chandra X-Ray observatory.
