Sal Khan skipped MIT classes but did problem sets
... as he explains in his "The One World Schoolhouse: Education Reimagined" book: https://www.khanacademy.org/ab...
Sal Khan says it won't be right for everyone, but if you are motivated, the "seat time" as a "passive learner" in large lecture courses is mostly wasted time compared to being an "active learner" working through problem sets. He says there that skipping classes was how he and others at MIT were able to take double the normal course load and graduate with high grades and multiple degrees. See:
https://books.google.com/books...So, in that sense, it might not be surprising or an indictment of college that the GP AC poster was able to miss all the 8am classes for a course and still pass it -- if they did the assignments and otherwise read the text book or other readings and such.
Of course, while class skipping may work for large lecture courses, it may be more problematical for the best sort of small seminar courses where a lot of active participation goes on in class as discussion and is part of the learning process.
So, without knowing the class and what the GP AC did to pass it, it it hard to generalize about college.

Re:Pickup buyers are the problem
I'd buy an EV pickup in a heartbeat. My daily driver is a pickup and I'd happily replace it with an EV if one was good enough. All sorts of advantages to electrification of a truck. Tons of torque, electric power on tap to run power tools, more cargo space, fuel efficiency, etc. What's not to love? Though I have to admit that in many cases a hybrid pickup might make more sense especially as a work truck.
Yup, you could fit some nice long batteries under the bed of an electric pickup, especially with no exhaust or drive linkage (individual motors on wheels would make four-wheel drive a few lines of code). The "more cargo space" would be even better than that -- you'd get something sorely missing on most pickups: an enclosed locking trunk space like a car has, via the front hood no longer having an engine. Now you have someplace to store more expensive tools.
-
Re:Nothing says...
Tesla cars have nothing in the front but an extra trunk. A Tesla tractor-trailer rig could fill the space traditionally used for the engine with additional battery capacity.

Re:Not Quite Right
Would you prefer that it be $150 per month? Because if there were no ads, the channel owners would probably ask for that much on pain of declining to offer their copyrighted works at all.
That number seems totally made up.
I Google ad prices ($342000/30 sec), ratio of ads to programing (15 min / hour), how much people watch (5 hour / day), and length of a month (30 day / month) and rounded the US TV watching population to 300 million.
The answer: $5.13 per month.
Sure some of my numbers might be a little off, but clearly $150 isn't even close to reality. -

Re:The three golden rules of borrowing
Corollaries:
1. Unless you're refinancing to get the interest down because it's essentially reducing the accumulation of debt.
2. Unless the payoff of the use of the item will outweigh its cost. Example: a car loan so you can commute to work and make more money than the car loan costs. (No, not every city is walkable or has public transit. Go take your hip(pie|ster) whine/wank session elsewhere.)Nitpicks:
1. Don't say "never" because you're just begging to be proven wrong.
2. See nitpick #1. Also, nothing increases in value over time when the scale is long enough. Keep that in mind.
3. This is just "budgeting". You don't borrow from yourself. It's actually impossible to do so. (Hint: go read the definition of "borrow".) -

Re: Not a dumb terminal - Linux with locked down U
ChromeBooks support many offline apps. The app just has to rely on the Chrome browser for the interface. Considering that includes JavaScript and Flash, not to mention full HTML 5, that isn't much of a limitation at all. Caret is one of my favorites.
Anyone who claims they are the computing equivalent to a games console has not seriously looked at what they can do.
I love them, and am chomping at the bit for Samsung to release the Chromebook Pro.

Re: How many Chromebook buys are accidental?
For the benefit of others reading this, I'll summarize the top three results for Google c++ chromebook as of right now>:
- The first result, "C++ Compiler for Chromebook", was a soft redirect to "Compile C/C++ on Chrome OS", which states: "You'll probably need to build it yourself," and links to the article "Building and Testing GCC and GNU binutils". This article in turn appears to be oriented toward developing on a GNU/Linux PC and testing on a Chromebook.
- The second result, "Offline c++ editor and compiler for chromebook", has one reply stating: "No compilers will run under ChromeOS. However, there are a number of very good cloud-based programming/IDE sites that work just fine with Chrome." Use of anything "cloud-based" while riding a school bus or city bus requires a tethering subscription, and in the United States, a tethering subscription for the life of a device is more expensive than a Windows license. Another reply recommends use of developer mode, but that's fragile as I've described elsewhere.
- The third result, "Five Best Online IDE's – Making the switch to a Chromebook", mentions several web-based IDE but doesn't mention their support for offline use. This article in turn linked to "Choosing the Best Chromebook for Developers", which an article about Crouton. But Crouton requires developer mode.
So it's either a remote IDE (which fails while offline) or Crouton (which begs to be wiped). Which search terms did you use to find a third option?
Through other searches, I found Trinket, which surprisingly continued to work after I went offline, made changes to the program with Trinket still open, and ran it. But it doesn't appear to work offline after navigating from Trinket and back to it. (This would require use of a Service Worker.)

Many pre-2017 Chromebooks aren't
From the article "Chrome OS Systems Supporting Android Apps":
we won't be able to bring Android apps to every Chromebook ever made
Chromebooks listed in that article or made since 2017 are PCs by my definition. Pre-2017 Chromebooks not on the list aren't PCs without the fragile developer mode.

Re: How many Chromebook buys are accidental?
'What they need' is usually to 'run Windows software',
[citation needed]
Today, most users spend most of their time in the browser. More and more software is "delivered" "as a service", in the browser. Sure, you can probably still buy quicken on CD or something, or over the net. Or you can buy a subscription and just use it all online. Sure, if you stop paying them, they will take away all your data that you haven't backed up. But if you're paying them every year anyway, having them handle backing up your financial data is kind of a win. Now repeat that same paradigm over every other piece of software.
There are very few apps that can't be implemented in the browser decently. They all involve lots of IO, like video editing. Most people don't do any of those things. And more and more of the things that do require can be done in an Android app, and many of those can be installed on many if not most Chromebooks.
The only sticking point for the average user will be games, and most of them will just play those on a console.

More pc users use windows
If that's best you got apk knocked you out. Stay asleep. You don't understand layered security. Hosts are good layered security. Routers and dns are central points of failure. Hosts supplement them (or can actually replace them locally). Group policy lets you import hosts via logon scripts or admins can easily via timed chronjob/windows scheduled tasks to multiple systems easily. Most people also can't afford multiple devices or routers that can take millions of blocking entries. Most consumer grade routers are cheap for a reason, that's 1 of them. Routers cost money and higher electric bills as well as more complexity most people do not want to learn. Hosts are very simple and easy to learn to manage and apk made that a point and click gui easy affair https://www.google.com/search?... for windows users and they are by far the majority in the world and yes they have a hosts file that is free and easy to use like apk's program.

Re: Host files
DNS's an inefficient security nightmare (100's of valid examples from reputable sources https://news.slashdot.org/comm... ). Your method's too complex and too much work adding on more (windows desktop doesn't have a dns server and most people use windows desltop model, server models cost big) and too much to configure. Define Humble?
what and how do you define humble in such a way it can be measured and then studied?
Humble is sometimes defined as the opposite of pride, but not all self value is pride so , again, define humble?
So far as I know humble is defined as such:
https://www.google.com/webhp?s...Humility is a christian value , but honestly I don't see it as something logically consistent with any kind of Atheistic Darwinian thought process.
How does the humble man fair when 'survival' of the fittest is the only real rule? -
Vs. ads/malware/dns issues I made this
APK Hosts File Engine 9.0++ SR-7 32/64-bit https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&biw=&bih=&q=%22APK+Hosts+File+Engine%22+and+%22start64%22&btnG=Google+Search&gbv=1/
Ads/script & malware rob speed/security/privacy
Hosts add speed (via hardcodes/adblocks), security (vs. bad sites/malware/poisoned dns), reliability (vs. dns down), & anonymity (vs. dns requestlogs/trackers).
Less power/cpu/ram + IO use vs. DNS/routers/addons/antivirus + less security bugs/complexity & faster vs. addons/routers/remote dns!
Avoids DNSChangers in routers/IP settings & dns redirects (99.999% of ISP DNS != patched vs. it) + lightens DNS load & resolves faster from local system RAM!
* Via what u NATIVELY have in the IP stack in FASTER kernelmode.

Re:twitter is an official propaganda machine
That study has been completely disproven. Come on - they cite sources from 1975
The study is from 2011 and is the most highly cited study on the subject. If you have a more recent study, feel free to share it.
Or do you believe that taxes are a one-way street - the government taketh, and the government giveth not?
No, I think health care should be privatized and insurance based: the government should (usually) neither give nor take when it comes to healthcare. Government and charity should be reserved for people who are indigent and have no other options.
I didn't ask to be sexually assaulted, I didn't ask for PTSD, anxiety disorder, or persistent depressive disorder with major depressive episodes. Then there's the whole problem with vision loss. For a couple of years, I was mostly blind. And the bout of flesh-eating disease. And a few other medical problems (work accidents, etc).
The only "deduction" I'm making is that your society has failed you, because your life is clearly not the path a life should take. I think you are a poster child for what is wrong with "liberal" progressive societies. In a decent. compassionate society, nobody should end up like you have ended up. And your obsession with bringing the same kind of system you live under to the US is evidently an attempt for you to cope with, and rationalize, your reality.
I will forgive your rudeness and insults because it's obvious you are suffering and you probably just don't know any better. I suggest that if you can't cope with opposing views, don't participate in US political discussions. But I will speak out when people like you advocate for bringing their dysfunctional societies and cultures to the US.
If I hadn't emigrated to the US as a young man, my life might have taken been wrecked in similar ways as yours. I cannot let views like yours stand without speaking out against them, because kids deserve better than what you got and what you are advocating for.

Also zsh descends from sh, not csh.

Re:Let me guess
Just "Dangit, Bobby!" would probably be most appropriate in this case.

Re:More US warmongering
There is no reason to keep reading after that. You're just making it up, and you're wrong.
Have you ever looked at an airbase? It's buildings + runway + taxiways. The runways go on for miles. The building do not. Seriously do you not know the vast majority of space taken up by an airbase are the runways?
You don't realize, I'm not making it up. I didn't share a single idea of my own. I only shared pretty standard knowledge from the relevant field.
No. I'm just saying you are dead wrong when it comes to both military tactics and understanding about military weaponry. Cite any relevant source on military tactics where a Tomahawk missile should be used against a runway.
You could probably find a basics book that would help. Certainly you'd be better off with some basics than with your own silly ideas.
What is the blast radius of a Tomahawk compared to the size of a runway? If you had any clue about the difference in size then you'd know why a Tomahawk is completely insufficient against a runway. This analysis mirrors my exact thoughts: Tomahawks are useless against runways; Durandals are the weapons to be used.
Is a runway the least replaceable? Compared to, for example, an airplane? Look it up!
The last time I checked you can fly in a replacement aircraft and drive in replacement equipment like a radar station, a mobile CNC. I don't believe you can fly in a replacement runway. My knowledge of engineering says replacing a runway takes much more effort that flying in a plane or driving a vehicle.

Obama: "Bring a gun"
but only one side has a president who says "knock the crap out of him" when he sees a protester of the other party
...Should I assume you're just sheltered and ignorant and not a lying sack of shit?
Obama: "argue with neighbors, get in their face"
Obama: "Latinos
... punish enemies [fellow Americans]Grow some balls and see why you're ignorant of all this
If you are just ignorant and not a lying sack of shit.
And if you are just ignorant, it's got to be at least partially deliberate.
How the fuck did you miss "Fuck Trump! Fuck white people!" Ooooh! So "progressive"!
