Re:Outdated
It was not completely discarded, it was canceled after all the criticism, but they already said they're revising the proposal and will present it again.

Re:Why is this a problem?
I didn't make an excuse. I tried to explain it, which is different. Just like you can study and explain the causes for any kind of crime without excusing criminals.
I do find it a grave problem and I do defend a more fair approach that doesn't default for the woman. This is starting to change, thankfully (btw, if you read it, when they say "parent," it means "father." In Portuguese we use the same word).
"But I'd say that's not a case of misandry" and make an excuse for it.
That doesn't make me misandrist, just like saying that I disagree about the causes of pedophilia doesn't make me a pedophile, even if I'm wrong.

Re:Is the complexity worth it? - AgreedOne of the things that really made GPLv2 approachable was it's directness and simplicity. I think it also gave it it's strength. Well, compared to GPLv3 maybe... the GPLv2 was also constantly called complex and filled with "legalese" (Google gives some apropos examples). This doesn't detract from your other points, but the GPL was always "complex" compared to non-copyleft licences.

Google calculator has something to say
5 (gigabytes / month) = 15.9494775 kbps. That's a quarter of the dialup speed. You can reach 5 GB/month using your good old 56 kbps dialip connection 6 hours a day on its max capacity. Enough said.
In other news, I pay 25 euros/month for a 8 Mbps down/512 Kbps up unlimited cable line, and I consider it expensive, and plan to change to the competitor that offers a 4M/512K by under 20 euros. God bless Europe. -

Re:A different Google Logo for Brasil
I'm impressed that Google thought of that, even though I'm not sure I agree with their decision. Google UK and Google Germany and Google Portugal show the new logo, but Google Brazil does not.
