Re:Oh My God, THE Roland Emmerich?!
A better example are the films Baby Geniuses and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 which both make it onto the IMDB "worst movies" list. In fact, Superbabies is #1.

Re:Oh My God, THE Roland Emmerich?!
Moon 44 is the absolute worst movie I have ever seen in my life, and I have seen a lot of very bad movies.
But have you seen War of the World 2?

Re:OMG, Luke Skywalker is right!
Also, George plans to hand the reins over to someone else after writing and producing the first season.
He already did that. It was called Star Wars: Clone Wars (no, not that one).
It was absolutely awesome.

Re:Get her pregnant
So...did she like it? I could do the same thing with Dancer in the Dark - a woman who can sit through it without vomiting, breaking up with me, or swearing loudly is unqualified.

A long time ago, I wanted to know if the girl I was dating was a keeper, so I rented Street Trash to see if she'd like it.
We've been married 11 years so far. -
Re:No, your kids did NOT love them.
If you study movies, Star Wars: A New Hope, must be included. It MIGHT be a simple story but its impact on society was enormous. If it had not been for Star Wars we would never have had Star Trek: The Motion Picture, but rather a new series. (Okay, so that is another thing we can blame lucas for).
If you study movies "The Hidden Fortress" must be included (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051808/ and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hidden_Fortress).
This was the basis for the simple story of Star Wars: A New Hope... Although the movie is black and white and 2 decades older I found it very entertaining, and the parallels with Star Wars are obvious. -
Re:admire lucas for the original star wars
I somewhat agree with what you are saying. However, look at his record
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000184/
He is an excellent producer. Has only directed a handful of movies (mediocre movies at that, blockbusters but mediocre). It shows someone who wants more control over his product but is suffocating the product because of this. He needs to learn to delegate better. Most of his work is on basically 1 project star wars. Now not to take away from him he has created what is arguably one the premier special effects houses around and a decent video game studio.
Now take what is basically one of his good friends and piers Steven Spielberg. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000229/ A well rounded carer. Way more directing gigs. Tons of producing gigs. I would also say a much better director.
George Lucas *IS* a good director/producer. He is also stuck in a creative rut. He got lucky with star wars. Then proceeded to beat that horse to death by taking away the very mystic the movie had by filling in every possible niche in the sw universe with something. Up until star wars he was directing very interesting and varied movies. He had a very promising directing carer. Star wars in many ways took over his life and never let go. I wonder what sort of movies he would have made if star wars had not taken over his life?

So what you're saying is, instead of dying from something in a Bruce Willis movie changing my altitude, I could be dying from something in a James Bond movie changing my altitude?

Good to hear they are finally making a sequel to the greatest movie of all time, Repo Man.
Unfortunately, the films are not related. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1053424/

Wow! Gattaca for real ...
It was a sci-fi movie about a genetically inferior man assumes the identity of a superior one in order to pursue his lifelong dream of space travel because the people were assigned occupations by their genes, no sense a corporation paying to train someone that might die before they get a decent return on their investment.

Re:Summary wrong: Not a coma!
You must see the movie from a couple of years ago called "The Diving Bell and The Butterfly" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401383/ - it tells a TRUE story of a man in exactly this situation: all he could do was blink one eye. But with that eye and the help of others, he was able to write a whole novel. It's a really good movie.

Re:Unforgivable!

One episode of ST:NG? How about his role as one of the main characters in the series "Warehouse 13"? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132290/
I watched each episode of Warehouse 13 closely to see if there was a "Duck of Death" stored in the warehouse...how's that for nerdy? -
Re:Cyber Warriors....
Wrong movie. Cyber warriors are like road warriors except the "road" is the information super-highway. Now, I know that's confusing because the Internets are more like tubes than like dumptrucks, but still, the Internet is exactly like a highway for information only superer.
So much as you'd expect, these cyber warriors will be riding around in cyber-cars (aka computers) trying to hoard cyber-gasoline, and perhaps trying to get revenge for their murdered cyber-wives. I know, it sounds funny, but you'd totally understand if you were a hacker who was familiar with cyberspace. The most important thing is to make sure all the T1s don't break through your firewalls and get access to your IP addresses.
And you thought he was interested in an analogous reference? It was meant to be tongue-firmly-in-cheek.

Do we need another
Do we really need another attempt to re-make 'Dune'? Yes, David Lynch's 1984 film version was really, really bad. Unwatchable, even. But I thought the healing process was complete with SciFi's Dune (2000) miniseries.
I watched the miniseries (but not the followup, Children of Dune (2003)) and thought it was great. They did an amazing job with the story. With a 3-part miniseries, you can take your time with the story, so it doesn't feel so rushed. Sure, it had William Hurt in it (I find him boring) but was good nonetheless!
:-)I'm not convinced we need another re-make of this.

Re:There's a word for this...
That said, this is the sort of situation that inevitably arises when violating the law. If you steal cars, and someone steals your stolen goods -- or tries to extort protection money from you, who are you going to call?
Well, I would have thought that was obvious

Re:I could have told you that.
A little help:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088247/quotes
Kyle Reese: Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Re:Best comics
If you like that comic, you need to see Moon.
-
Re:You're Grounded!
There's inspiration, and then there's "quoting", which is what Lucas does. Watterson certainly owes something to older cartoonists, but the man is original. I can't think of any other comic strip where you so often have no idea what's really happening and what's just a figment of the heroes imagination. (And often, both premises are contradicted in a single strip!) George Lucas never had that kind of imagination, and even if he did, he wouldn't have the balls to actually put that kind of story in his movies.
Lucas's one accomplishment is revive the pre-television B movie, the kind with lots of action and not a lot of logic. That's a formula for getting folks into the theater, but it's still just a formula.

Re:Soooo....
I guest you know better than Robert McNamara who in the documental "The Fog of War" by Errol Morris (when explaining proportionality must be a war goal) recall the General Curtis LeMay saying having dropped the bomb, if they have lost the war, justified beeing trialed like criminals (because japan was offering to surrender since several months before)

Re:unpossible
Some say, that Idiocracy was a documentary sent back from the future. And that The Man needs a dumbed-down populace to keep the likes of Walmart and the current political system in business. All we know is that popular culture emphasizes dumbness over intelligence. Welcome to 2010.

Re:Business model
Fly indiana jones and have him leave a bag of peebles when taking the rocks.
Harrison Ford probably wouldn't be interested in the venture at this point in his life. Also, I doubt that Mario Van Peebles could be convinced to part with such a personal item.

Re:Insanity.
Are you serious?
Is a heroin addict less likely to violently pursue their next “hit” just because their last score was cut with ink? Is the pusher or dealer any less guilty than the consumer?
Mixed metaphors aside, there's a real danger to all this. Let's use the the TLC program, Toddlers & Tiaras, as a quick example. Does this show have any redeeming entertainment value? The only drop of virtue you could squeeze from that show is a plain and clear message, leave the children alone! Is anyone committing a crime on the show? Technically, no. Even so, do you suppose that message gets through to anyone with pedophilia? I highly doubt it.
What does this have to do with cartoon kiddie-porn? I'll tell you; it's like how cartoon violence prepares us for the real thing. It's like how watching episodes of Tom & Jerry gives us the idea to bring home that mouse from the pet store and drop it in front of the cat, just to see what happens. The fact that it's drawn makes no difference!
Even in America, consumption of representational media is tantamount to the real thing. That's why Heavy Metal earned an “R” rating in 1981, even though there wasn't even one naked woman or eviscerated human in the entire film.
The point has arisen, how cartoon children are not, in fact “real” children. I disagree. Maybe the illustrated form of a child isn't connected to any, one child. Consider, then, that the drawn form could be any child... every child... my child... your child. Does that make these men seem any less dangerous than a convicted sex offender? The only real difference is time, and TFA tells us that these men got exactly what they deserved.

Re:Amen
The hacker bent over his keyboard is a boon to society while the couch potato leaning waayy back is a drain.
Meanwhile, he introduces the iPad while leaning back in an easy chair and telling us how easy it is to buy and consume web pages, music, movies, books from the iTunes store. And it's all DRM infested...
The production costs for the Galactica mini-series in 2003 was $10 million dollars. Battlestar Galactica
Ultimately, it's the couch potato who pays the bill.
While the hacker is only a small part of the creative process. He doesn't write the script or story. He doesn't compose or perform the score.

They just wait for me to crack, and turn up at their HQ, to hold a fat shotgun at the CEO’s head.
Not so powerful now, your terms, are they? Not so useful against a man who has nothing to lose, your laws and rules, are they?
